Love working with Dawna to get our Irish Setter puppy accustomed to manners! They are super attentive and effective. We’re sending back our pup for a tune up and additional training. Has made our family enjoy our energetic bouncy pup so much more.

We couldn’t have been happier with the experience we had with American K9 and trainer Tabrina. She took such great care of our 3 month old puppy, loving her, training her and did an amazing job training us when we picked her up! My 11 year old daughter came with to pick Liv (our puppy) up and Tabrina was really patient and clear with explaining everything to us. The pictures Tabrima took throughout the two weeks are frame worthy! The videos were also super helpful. We are thinking of sending out 8 year old dog to K9 America just so she can keep up with our amazingly trained puppy Liv!

We first went to American K9 for our rottweiler was very fear aggressive and would snap at people who would approach him on walks. We had to muzzle him in public, and getting him to the vet was almost impossible. We tried everything and had almost given up. Our trainer, Danny, was amazing. Not only has he gained new confidence and is able to ignore distractions, but he actually walks up to people for pets now. He happily goes wherever we take him. He is like a whole new dog! We then returned to Danny with our new puppy, just to get him trained from day 1, and I must say it was 100% the best decision we have ever made. Danny is amazing, I highly recommend her!!

Danny is an amazing trainer! She worked with us and our 12 week old lab puppy. Danny has such a calm and collected presence and our pup loved her! Danny taught us and our puppy all the basics and after 6 weeks I felt so comfortable and confident in continuing our training at home. I would highly recommend Danny and AmericanK9 if you want not just a well behaved dog but also want to be engaged and involved in the training.

We had Natalie as our trainer for our golden retriever pup, Gus. He came home a changed man! We really appreciated the tutorial around redirecting pulling on leash. Natalie was very hands on with both Gus and training us!

Update: We recently had the pleasure of working with Natalie once again from American K9 for off-leash training with our dog, Tucker. From the very beginning, Natalie impressed us with her professionalism, knowledge, and genuine love for dogs. After conducting thorough research, we came across American K9. Right from our initial interaction, we were confident that this was the ideal place for our little guy to undergo an in-house board and train program. Tucker spent numerous days and nights under the guidance of his trainer, Natalie. We greatly appreciated receiving videos of his training sessions, which clearly showed his enthusiasm and dedication. Upon picking Tucker up, he was eager to demonstrate all the new skills he had acquired. His progress was truly remarkable! Tucker now walks joyfully, responds promptly to commands, can maintain focus even in distracting environments, and thoroughly enjoys playing fetch. Although we encountered a minor issue with his door manners upon returning home, Natalie promptly provided us with valuable tips and tricks to address this behavior - and now Tucker excels in that aspect as well. We feel incredibly fortunate to have Natalie's ongoing support, and for that, we are truly grateful.

I brought my Frenchie here for a six week board and train when she was about 16 weeks old. Natalie was our trainer. I cannot say enough good things about my experience there. Natalie sent me updates daily, and soothed all my worries about leaving my tiny pup there. It's been a year now, and Natalie has been available to answer any questions I've had along the way. I recommend American K9 and especially Natalie to anyone looking for training and I would definitely use them again.

American K9 trained our Giant Schnauzer pup in private sessions & it was an amazing experience. Literally couldn’t have done any of it on our own, bc they use military/K9 tried & true methods, but adapt them for day to day life. They actually trained us more than the dog 😂 Cannot recommend this business enough! Our dog is 4 now & we still use the commands & training methods every day without thinking. We are still in touch with our trainer from time to time. Genuinely good & humble people who love animals.

We first came to American K9 with an extremely reactive, anxious rescue puppy, Louise. She would panic, fail to listen, and bowl over people who came to visit. We did a 3 week board and train with Trainer Sarah and were amazed at the difference. Sarah gave us the tools to work with our dog and honed these skills on a follow up visit. My senior mother is now confident controlling Louise without our help. If there are any issues, Sarah is always available to chat about concerns and celebrate breakthroughs. When it was time to introduce a puppy to our family, Sarah was there to give us a strategy for our existing dog and to teach the new puppy manners. American K9 has taken the stress out of our home by giving us a set of tools to work with our dogs so we can get the best out of them.

Sarah, thank you for working so closely with Bear And Lucy. Both are doing well . It’s great to know if you’re going away they get to go on a retreat at your facility. Keep up the great work, you are the best!

Natalie worked with our working line German Shepherd Dog. It was honestly a night and day different when we got our pup back from American K9s board to train program. Natalie was able to provide our family with the foundational training and tools we needed to focus our high energy pup.

We are so thrilled with the training that our fur baby received at AmericanK9. Special shout out to Natalie for taking such a patient approach to training our stubborn boy. We loved the daily updates and being able to see his progress over the course of his stay. He maintained a healthy weight, is very happy and we are excited to reinforce his training. We've used American K9 twice now for training and are so pleased with their work and support throughout. We've done 4 private lessons when our puppy was 4-5 months old in Fall 2023, and then we also did a 3 week board and train in Spring 2024. Our yellow lab has such a working/sport personality, and American K9 saw that and really pushed him to learn. He's still a very happy, playful puppy that tests boundaries, but both of us know what the commands are and the expected outcome. I cannot recommend them enough to support you in your training journey, no matter where you are, they meet you where you are and help you and your dog progress.

I can't say enough good things about AmericanK9. My pup was the menace of the neighborhood and is now the model dog of the community. The team does a great job getting your dog setup for longterm success. If you are in need of a trainer in the Southern Maryland area, definitely give them a call.

Our golden doodle puppy was in need of some training when we got him at 4 months old. We had tried some group training sessions with another place but we weren’t having any luck correcting his behaviors. He was a large puppy that would jump on us and knock over our toddler often. He would counter surf to the point where making food was impossible. He’d often need to be crated just so we had a meal in peace. It was getting to be too much for us and we didn’t know what to do. Then I found American K9 and Natalie! We started with a 2 week board and train. We noticed a big change after he learned his basic commands. However, the biggest change happened after his one week off leash training 3 months ago! He now doesn’t jump on us or other people to greet them. Most of the time if he knows someone or senses they are friendly he’ll stand next to them with his head nuzzled up to their hand ready for pets. We are able to go on off leash walks around the neighborhood and our house. He responds great to commands. He doesn’t counter surf anymore but he will take the opportunity to snatch a snack if left unattended on the table. We can have all our meals without him being crated. He simply lays by our feet until we are done. He loves to be close to us. I would recommend Natalie and American K9 to anyone with a dog. I was once told an untrained puppy will turn into an untrained teenager and then an untrained adult with the behaviors only getting worse. But after 3 weeks of training with Natalie I am confident our big red dog will continue to be well behaved. We have gotten so many comments from people we know and strangers on walks about how well behaved he is especially for a puppy. 👍 I feel comfortable taking him with us on dog friendly adventures. He’s even become the mascot for my son’s baseball team. Players and supporters all come over for cuddles and sometimes just a much needed hug after a tough play.

I can't say enough good things about American K9 Academy and our incredible trainer, Sara. Our five-month-old chocolate lab was overly enthusiastic and bitey, making it challenging to manage him. However, after just two weeks of training with Sara, he's like a new dog. Sara's expertise, patience, and tailored training methods transformed our pup into a well-behaved and delightful companion. Her ability to connect with and understand our dog was remarkable. Tabrina was an amazing trainer. We really couldn't ask for someone more caring and wonderful to help with our dog. It was such a relief to know he was getting the best care. The training itself made a huge difference, and she was wonderful explaining to us how everything works!

My puppy Lucy eceived obedience training from Danny. What a great dog trainer. She was patient but firm with Lucy. To be honest I learned a lot from Danny. She was the best. Lucy always got excited to see Danny. She has 3 dogs of her own, but treated Lucy like she was one of hers. I'm going to miss Danny but I know my puppy Lucy is going to miss her more.
