As a Luxury Brand Manager for many years, I was amazed to experience a A Step Above professional project on my 3-story Tybee townhouse. With the team's genuine camaraderie, they were fastidiously efficient in every aspect of rebuilding an entrance awning & painting the entire home's all white trim, top to bottom. This also included my front porch- so many rails! This is a luxury business that I would recommend to everyone who appreciates great personalized customer service, respectfulness in every aspect, and a perfectly accomplished project. A Step Above recently completed a siding replacement project for our townhomes. We were very pleased with the quality of their work! This included taking down all our lights, fixtures, and hurricane shutters and putting them back up. I was very impressed with there quote breakdowns itemizing all scope of work by line item! Tony worked with us on all our concerns. Their housekeeping was good as well. We recommend them for your home project!

ONE YEAR UPDATE: We’ve had to have both electric and the brand new roof repaired already…. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because they did stick out the process and completed it. It was not however what we discussed from the beginning and there were MANY major disappointments along the way. The process of working with A Step Above was difficult to say the least. They came in to do a quote at which time we asked if they were licensed and insured to which they responded yes. Turns out they had a business license yes but did not have a builder’s license in the state of Georgia, I don’t know if this is still the case you will need to ask specifically if they have a builder’s license not just if they have a license to find out. The project started out by having to replace a septic tank which we were not expecting. Not their fault they did it and did not charge us for the labor which we thought, “wow super nice.” However, they then used that fact to hold over our heads every time that money came up, even going so far as to back charge us for the labor (which is not legal in the state of GA, but I did not know that at the time). From there it was change order after change order, asking for more money left and right it got frustrating, and we were paying for things that we felt should have been noticed from the beginning. I could go into intense detail here, but I will narrow it down to a few so this doesn’t get too long. One of the change orders that we fought with having to pay hardest was for the sub floor in the entire existing portion of our house to be raised by 2” to match the addition that they built. I don’t understand why they did not just cut a portion off of the cinder block when they laid it to match the original portion instead of spending their time and our money to fix their mistake. Another major issue I had with change orders is the fact that they did not include insulation, electrical, or dry walling in the remodeled portion of the house. This to me seems like it should have been a no brainer to include because: 1. The existing portion was built over 50 years ago so the electrical is going to have to be redone. 2. It is a code requires that insulation be installed and inspected before dry wall is put up (so in my mind they should have known this code) 3. They knew that they were taking down walls but did not think that they would have to replace they dry wall on the ceiling. (This simply makes no sense to me) There seemed to be little forethought or planning when it came to the project. They would wait until one thing was completed before even ordering product for the next portion of the project. So, this combined with the supply chain issues meant that we were spending weeks waiting on products with VERY little being done to the house. There was even about a 4-month period from October 2021-January 2022 where they sent in 1 man to work on the house. They all but abandoned the project, in my eyes, during that time and had they been here working it would have been completed in a much timelier manner. But the worst thing is we were told the project would take 16 weeks or 4 months to complete. We expected from the beginning that it would likely be closer to 6-8 months, but we ended up being out of our home for 16 months. During which time, they seemed to lack understanding or compassion for the bad situation we were in because they grossly underestimated the cost and time for the project. Their communication was sorely lacking, and I probably would not have felt that they did not care if that was better. Overall, their work is mediocre, not horrible but not great. Half of the doors in my house do no close correctly and my husband has had to fix multiple fans/light fixtures that were not hung right. These are minor things, but in a home that was just finished being remodeled they are things that you would expect to be done. If you are looking for someone who can complete the project in a cost effective and timely manner, while also communicating with you on the status of the project I would look elsewhere.

I Had a fence put up with 2 gates that had to be hand made, and they extended my front porch. Very professional from the boss Mr Lord to all the workers. Kept area very clean and organized. Would highly recommend and will definitely use them again.

A Step Above Construction did a great job for me in a timely matter. I was in a time crunch and needed Mechanical and Electrical work done to keep my project moving. The workers were professional, courteous, and cleaned up after their work was done each day. I highly recommend them for your next project!

A Step Above did outstanding job in a near complete reworking of my house. Painting, flooring, and especially the tile work.

Fantastic Contractor! Should be called "A Step Above and Beyond!" Tony and his crew demolished a 6x6 rotting storeroom under our house and built a beautiful 11x15 storeroom. They installed new blocks in my cross pieces under our house to keep the house from wiggling, and installed a new whole house electric water heater and circulating pump. We are so glad that we chose them to do these projects as they ran into major problems at every turn! They hung in there, figured out the best solutions, and solved the problems including working with Georgia Power, City Planning & Zoning and the City Engineer! Tony has a great relationship with the City which helped us tremendously!!! Now we have a nice, useable storeroom, hot water instantly throughout our house, and our house is stable! Highly recommend this company and have already recommended them to friends and neighbors. Tony was very respectful of our neighbors during construction. We are already planning on using A Step Above again!

Tony and his crew should be rated a 10 star. They helped me to finish a deck that a previous contractor did not complete. They are professional and courteous and show up when they say they will. They delivered on time. They also did little task for me that they were not required to because my husband was in the hospital at the time. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Tony and your crew! Real pros, and know what they are doing. Had them rebuild an old deck and stairs, and they are not just good as new, but better than the original when new. Highly recommend.

A Step Above just completed several projects on our home and we couldn't be more pleased. They were very kind and professional, and they went above and beyond to make certain we were happy. Their work is top notch, and all of the men are extremely kind and friendly. It's a 5+ from our family!

A Step Above construction just completed a job for me. They were very professional and responsive to my families need. They do very good work and their prices are reasonable. I was impressed with the attitude and good work ethics they work with. Their very safety oriented, and respectful of the homeowners possessions. I have more work that is needed and will be using them again. My family works in construction and they told me that this company is one of the best out there. I would recommend them for a small or large jobs.

Tony and his team did a fantastic job on a major exterior renovation for us. I had no idea our house could look so good! They are a great group of guys - on time, very professional, they do a great job - and they have fun together.

We had a long list of interior and exterior projects and Tony Lord and his team did a super job on all of them. Projects included replacing a raised porch, replacing two exterior stairs, replacing aging exterior structural supports, major plumbing repair, plumbing installation, ceiling replacement, ceiling repair, installing recessed lighting, and electrical repairs. All of the work was performed by team members (hooray - no subs!) and the quality was top notch. We couldn't have found a more professional, personable and responsive construction/remodeling company. Thank you Tony and crew - we will call you again for all future projects!
