I was a gym member for about 3 years and followed the directions to cancel my membership back in June. I was emailed back. I had a “pending cancellation.” With no phone call and no other interactions between me and the gym itself, I assumed everything was fine. That was until I received a letter from their third-party collection agency, showing that I owed $16.88 for July plus an additional $100 in fees. Did I go to the gym in July? No, because I assumed my membership was canceled. Instead, I’m alerted months later, I owe the gym I canceled membership $116.88 for a month I didn't even use. When I reached out to management about this issue, I was told there was nothing they could do because of their contractual agreement with the third-party collection agency. After years of membership, I'm thanked for my support by being charged $116.88 for a month I never used. Again, this is for a month Post-Cancellation.
