Falsely accused of stealing, money taken pre-emptively and an unprofessional owner.
My father and I stayed here while driving across the Nullarbor from Perth. Our stay at the Burra Inn was marred significantly by the serious accusation of the theft of a pillow after our checkout, with the owner Robert Frischke accusing us over the phone, and having already charged the card without discussion or consent. By luck we were still in Burra and we returned immediately to address the claim, insisting on speaking to him, despite Robert advising he would be busy on calls. Despite the many, many more plausible explanations - the Burra Inn rooms are unlocked for hours prior to our check in, confirmation of the cleaners of the last clean date a day prior, offers of inspection of our car - "you guys could have taken it out anywhere" - we found Robert to be totally unprofessional, rude and dismissive and that he would refund as needed once he had reviewed the security cameras, at which point we became aware he had already charged the card. He abruptly left the conversation with "bye, talk to the hand". We followed up with a direct email requesting for the security footage, the cleaning log, and for the refund. To this date we have received no response, apart from a silent refund a few days later. It’s a pity as we found the location and rooms to be good, but this whole ordeal completely soured our experience and we wanted to share so that other patrons can be on alert.
