Unforgettable Experience, Camptrek Safaris is the Ticket!! We had a fantastic 12 Day trip put together by Camptrek Safaris owner John.We chose the 12 day Kenya and Tanzania trip. What an amazing adventure. Our accommodations were really good, most were upper scale on the luxury chart.I think the only downside, was all the logistics of getting around . There were many long days of driving on some really poorly maintained roads. However, It was all part of the experience. If I were to do it all again, I think we would spend the extra money and include some flights in the itinerary, that would allow much more time to enjoy some of the camps, as well as allowing for more of a slower pace during the actual safaris. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change our experience for anything, just saying if I had it to do it again, I would definitely consider a couple of flights versus the jeep "treks". If your only doing one country or the other, then maybe stick with the ground transportation. We had 2 different guides for our trip who were both very good, yet very different in their techniques while searching for the wildlife. Philp handled the Kenya portion of the trip, and Goodluck was our guide in Tanzania. Both of these guys were extremely knowledgeable and very skilled at what they do. There were a few inconveniences for sure, mainly at the border crossings. Just typical delays and waiting around for them to process everything. I'm not sure how all that works if you choose flights between the two countries. It took us approximately 1 hour at each border. Both drivers were so good at making sure we were safe at all times. That seemed to be their top priority and was comforting to know. They made sure the vehicles stayed in great condition at al times. Always stocked with plenty of drinking water.I say this because you are at times, in those jeeps for up to 12 hours in a day.Our camps, other than one, were awesome. 5 star treatment by all the staff at every single camp we visited. The only camp that was what you would call "a camp" was the Acacia Migration camp in the Serengeti. It was good, but they had issues with power staying on. Its a Migration camp which means its mobile and moves around based on the Wildebeest main activity are during the migration. We saw many many species of animals on our journey. In theory, we did see the big 5, however the Leopard sightings were from a distance of around 150 Meters, and the Rhinos at Ngorongoro were a good mile away and had to be viewed through binoculars. The guides both did their best, but sometimes it just doesn't happen as you had hoped. We saw everything else in abundance and pretty much within a few meters away. We saw Lions, Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Gazelles, Cheetahs, hippos, hundreds of species of birds, Wart hogs, Hyenas, monkeys, baboons, buffalo, crocodiles, and of course those migrating Wildebeests. And Yes, we were fortunate enough to be able to watch some crossings. It was awesome!!I can go on and on about how much fun we had on this trip, but it's just something you have to see to believe. Papa John, his staff, and our guides were all 5 star. Their Service, communication, and enthusiasm for giving us an unforgettable experience were as good as it gets. I would not hesitate to use Camptrek Safaris again. Thanks again to you guys for making this experience something we will cherish forever. And finally to Philip and Goodluck, You guys rock. We truly miss you both and will never forget how much fun you were, and all the great knowledge we gained from you both.!! Thanks again. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out !!

Just excellent from the first point of contact to the final moment of our safari. Margaret and John couldn’t do enough to help and advise us. Our driver/guide also made sure every moment went to plan and that we had the best possible sightings of all the game - he had a very deep knowledge of his subject and Kenya in general. A wonderful experience.

Wonderful 6 day safari through Amboseli, Nakuru and Masai Mara. Saw The Big 5 and so many more. Highly recommend! Excellent in every way. And I don’t usually do reviews as sometimes there isn’t enough good things to say. Camptrek, were superb from the very beginning and early contact, right the way through. Margaret and John were attentive and helpful with all our queries and requests. Booking through the internet from the UK, even with some knowledge of Kenya can be a little concerning. However, they made us feel confident and always responded promptly and we received good advice. When it came to the safari, well! Our guide/driver Steven was superb, everything was on time and really ran like clockwork, even The Big Five appeared on cue! But we saw many more animals than just those. Too many to write here. All the lodges and hotels were very pleasant and comfortable. The vehicle also, comfortable and Steven kept it clean and tidy. Attention to detail from beginning to end (the little extras) was absolutely faultless - that’s what made a difference for us. A stunning trip in every way.

18 day Kenya and Tanzania Safari - We chose this company due to their excellent itinerary, high quality of lodging, excellent reviews, and great value compared to other quotes we had gotten. We had 4 different guides on different parts of our tour (due to additions we made to their normal safari schedule) and had great experiences with each one (David, John, Phillip, and Francis). Our main guide was Phillip. He was awesome! Highly knowledgeable and willing to please his guests. One thing we liked about Phil was that you could tell he was as excited to see a great wildlife encounter as we were. That was very nice. He also took the time to find out what we were interested in and tailored the trip accordingly. Each lodge had its own special charm. The food was fantastic and the unlimited bottled water definitely came in handy. You could easily tell the lodges were chosen with care. Pappa John set up a fantastic trip. Each day was an adventure and almost seemed better than the last amazing day. The communication prior to the safari was top notch. Lucy was very responsive and helpful. Within 3 days of starting our safari we had already seen the big 5. Our animal encounters were out of this world. We especially enjoyed Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s elephant orphanage. What an fantastic organization. We highly recommend using this company. They are an amazing group of people that do everything to make your safari an adventure of a lifetime and it absolutely was! This safari was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and will give us memories that will last a lifetime!

AVOID we were quoted on numerous quotations for morning safari and a boat ride. When we exchanged cash on the morning i was told the boat would be extra. If that wasn't annoying the night before our final day and morning safari, i was told it was there mistake we had no safari, and to do it we were to pay over $1200. I challenged this, with quotes which clearly stated it was included i got no where and was told it wouldn't be happening unless i paid the additionally money

We arranged a "5-Day Hakuna Matata Safari" for the client at Sopa lodges, which included visits to Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, and concluded at Sopa Masai Mara. However, the reservation office at Sopa lodges requested a change to our itinerary. They suggested that we begin at Lake Nakuru, then visit Masai Mara, and finish at Lake Naivasha due to unforeseen circumstances. We communicated this proposal to the client, and they agreed to the changes. Under the original plan, the clients were scheduled to enjoy a complimentary morning game drive on their last day at Masai Mara, as they had ample time for it. With the revised itinerary, however, we could not arrange a morning game drive because it was necessary for the clients to arrive at Lake Naivasha in time for lunch to participate in a boat ride, walking safari, and other activities. We informed the client about the conflict between the complimentary morning game drive and their lunch schedule through our driver. Unfortunately, there seems to have been a misunderstanding regarding this communication. We are dedicated to providing excellent service, ensuring our clients receive value for their money, and helping them create unforgettable adventures.

As our first trip to Kenya we were unsure on how to properly plan a trip and what company to choose. Luckily Margaret was super responsive and designed our trip according to the dates, flight times and our preferences. After a warm welcome at the airport she introduced us to our tour guide Eric who was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Hotels were nice and staff welcoming. However, the last hotel might need some updating and requires stocking of the bar (no soft drink, no beer no wine and no brew coffee - we were wondering why they bother to open the bar) - but this not reflect on Camptrek as a company. Thank you Margaret and Eric for making this trip wonderful and memorable.

CAMPTREK, JOHN AND ALL THE GUIDES ENSURED THAT OUR TRIP TO KENYA AND TANZANIA WAS UNFORGETTABLE! John from Camptrek was wonderful to work with during the planning of our trip. He was very helpful in answering any questions we had in preparation for our trip. Of all the tour operations, Camptrek put together an amazing 16 day Safari to Kenya and Tanzania. From the very first day, John and the other tour guides were friendly, warm and accommodating. They each went out of their way to make sure that everyone in our group’s personal needs were met during the entire trip. We were on the trip with our 86 year old mother and they were very solicitous, wanting to be sure that she was comfortable and that she had everything she needed. The accommodations that Camptrek arranged were excellent and the grounds of some of the camps were stunning. Our agenda was jam packed with game drives, visits to animal orphanages, sanctuaries and visiting tribal people. During our game drives we were lucky enough to be able to see the Big 5, the Ugly 5 and numerous other creatures. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing information on each of the animals, including their habits, lifespan and anecdotal stories. Overall, it was an unbelievable experience thanks to John and Camptrek. This was a once in a lifetime trip but should we decide to take some of our other family members on a trip to Africa, we would definitely do the trip through Camptrek. It is without any reservation that we recommend Camptrek for your safari.

We booked a 12-day trip to Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, with three different guides. The best and most memorable one was David, our guide in Kenya. He always had this big smile on his face, whether he was with us or chatting with hotel staff. Before every game drive, he’d remind us to check for our phones and bags. On the drives, he patiently taught us how to tell males from females, left from right, and even fun slang for different animals. If you’re booking with Camptrek, David is the one to go with! In Tanzania, we had to change one of our tent stays because of our schedule change, but the new tent was honestly not up to the mid-range level we expected. Our guide in Zanzibar was also good, but for booking activities, just ask the hotel front desk. It’s cheaper than what the guide quoted us

Thankyou so much for choosing to travel with us. We are gald you enjoyed your safari with David. We have taken note of the overcharged activities in zanzibar which we will from henceforth reccommend to be booked directly from the hotel. Thank you for your honest review.

We had such a wonderful trip with Camptrek, especially our guide Vincent and Antony. Our boy loved both of them very much. We spent 10 days in safari at Amboseli, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire, following up with 3 days in Zanzibar island. The whole trip was smooth and our guides were very responsible and taking care of all our needs. Vincent is the best guide you could ever find. He’s patient, genuine and thoughtful. Our family was inspired by his passion for wildlife. He is already knowledgeable about the nature and animals. However, he was as curious as we were during the trip. He is more than a guide but like a friend of ours. On the second day of our trip, Vincent invited our 11-year-old boy sitting next to him so they can exchange their knowledge of animal facts. We sincerely appreciate his accompany along the trip. We would definitely love to have Vincent as our guide again next time we visit Tanzania! What an incredible experience. Highly recommended!!

We had a great time in Kenya. This six-day, five-night trip to Kenya was truly an eye-opener! Our guide, Eric, was incredibly professional and enthusiastic. He drove us to the famous Masa Mara and Amboseli National Parks. We were very lucky to see a wide variety of amazing wildlife, including lions, elephants, and giraffes. It felt like we were in a real-life nature documentary! A special shout-out to Eric for his wealth of experience and thoughtful planning. He always found the best wildlife viewing routes, avoiding crowds while bringing us close to the animals. If you’re looking to experience the true beauty of Africa’s wildlife, Kenya is definitely a destination you shouldn’t miss!
