Looks like a cool place to stay. Just passing through this trip

Have you ever dreamed of working for the hotel you’re paying to stay in? Do you love the smell of cigarettes long ashed decades ago? Do you love standing in line so you can complete basic hotel tasks on your own while staff members stand around idly?
Look no further, this is the hotel for you!
I’m a Vegas regular and I strongly advise you not stay or gamble at New York New York. I hate writing bad reviews but this place is ridiculous. So let’s dig in…
The rooms are dated, the entire casino smells like cigarettes, and the staff is either intentionally unhelpful or hopelessly helpless. This place sucks, it’s gross, and kind of sad. And, suffice it to say, there are much better places to stay on the strip.
Here are some highlights:
- kiosk you’re forced to use didn’t work when we got there at all.
- room service took an hour to bring stuff that should have been in the room already.
- *everything* smells like cigarettes.
- the gambling areas are cramped, dark, and sad.
- I tried to have them hold my luggage and they expected me to wait in a 30 minute line so I could interact with the kiosks again, even though there were three staff members just standing around doing nothing.
This is basic stuff.
Let’s put it this way, you arrive in Vegas and you’re excited to check into your hotel, see a show, or spend some money. Instead of a face to face experience, you’ll be treated to a long line in a dimly lit, high traffic front desk until you’re finally forced to interact with their kiosk system. Everything will take forever, if it gets done at all and the walls are like paper so the people in the room next to you will hear everything you say.
I did so much stuff on my own in this hotel they should have me on the payroll. This casino/hotel is a joke and I’m sure it won’t be around very long.
Avoid it, stay at the Venetian instead, even if you’re going to a hockey game - take a taxi.
P.s. I mentioned the kiosks a few times and as a tech executive, I can see right through their attempt to minimize staff and replace them with machines and self service. To some extent this can be helpful, but NY NY’s execution is sloppy and reeks of revenue-bias over customer service. It’s a shame for the handful of people who work there and seem like they know what they’re doing. This attempt at automation is but one symptom of a poorly run business that sacrifices quality for margin 10 times out of 10.
