I booked for a haircut a few weeks ago. Katy was my stylist. I told the stylist what I wanted & showed a couple of photos for reference, I did mention not wanting a “U shape” and rather preferred it straight. Katy went on to explain that because I had said “I don’t want that shape”, she would not do that cut for me, as layers would create that shape, which is understandable. However, whilst sitting through the consultation, I did state that I don’t mind if it creates the U shape as I would like to walk away feeling like I’ve had something different done to my hair and not just the usual trim off the ends. I was happy to let go of some more length for layers to be put back in to my hair as I grew all my layers out. Katy refused to do this despite me repeatedly telling her it’s fine if it creates a “U shape” and if I cut more of the length. She went on to say she doesn’t cut hair in that way. It felt as if she just went with the first thing I said about not wanting a u shape and wanting to keep my length and just stuck to it, a client is allowed to change their mind, the stylist has done their part by explaining how the cut would look but if the client then agrees and is happy for it should you not give them what they’ve asked for? The stylist spoke about how my hair is thin and I should just stick to having a trim and trying to thicken it before having any layers put in, I’m not sure if she understood me when I said, “I have always had a layered haircut”, this is just the first time I’ve let my hair grow out to one length. I know I can have layers put in without it looking “thinner”, in fact the right cut and style can make your hair appear fuller. I explained my hair has always been this way, it does not get thicker (my hair is not that thin!). However, because Katy kept telling me “that’s not what I do, that’s not how I cut hair”, I said ok fine. We decided to trim the smallest amount off the ends to maintain length. I asked for face framing layers and a fringe to look somewhat different and feel like I’ve had a haircut, the first thing Katy said was that would effect your length, so she’d rather not, but I insisted, she cut the thinnest amount, I cannot see any face framing pieces whatsoever. I didn’t mind it going into my length as I kept mentioning but at this point she was just refusing to do everything I wanted. The worst part, and this is when I realised the stylist wasn’t able to or is not trained to execute the cut I initially asked for and I wish she just told me this in the beginning, was her cutting my fringe one side shorter than the other. I pointed this out to Katy twice hoping she would rectify it, she went on to trim more off the shorter side. Katy said it’s because of the way my hair sits (what she was referring to is called a cowlick). Surely you don’t blame your clients hair for your poor work. If my fringe being cut shorter on one side was due to “the way my hair sits”, the shorter side would’ve been the side the cowlick is on, not the opposite. At the end of the haircut, I asked the question, if I was unhappy could I come back and have layers put in, Katy responded that would be based on a consultation, that confirmed the stylist is not experienced or this salon is not catered to the “latest trends” and what I wanted was avoided and point blank refused. In hindsight I wish I left after the consultation. There are other little things that make up an experience of visiting a salon that were not met such as warm water during the hair wash, the lady did not even ask if the temp of the water is ok, I had to point out the water was cold and if she could please turn the temp up, she also did not offer the massage when conditioning hair, which I’m sure is a given in all salons and part of the experience, I’ve never not had it. I also asked twice if I could get a patch test, she said she would get the colour stylist to do this but wasn’t done. Unfortunately I left disappointed and felt it a complete waste of £70, the price did not reflect a cut from a “senior creative stylist” nor a salon experience.

I booked in today with Vivienne and had an amazing haircut. She made sure it was exactly what I wanted and I LOVE my new haircut. From the very beginning to the last second of the appointment it was perfect. I can’t recommend the salon and Vivienne more highly! The best haircut of my life!

I've been to Emma Leon about 6 times now and would absolutely recommend to anyone. Katy cuts my hair and from the first appointment I knew things would good. She gave me her undivided attention, listened to what I wanted and took the time to have a good look at my hair and how it grows and then made some suggestions around what she thought would suit. I have short hair and have found it tricky to get the right cut. It always looks great and Katy always cuts well and I come out with what I wanted. Because it is cut well, the shape lasts even as it grows. She's a lovely person, always chatty and friendly. I've been to both salons and love them both. Friendly staff and a nice vibe in each of them. Thank-you.

Emma's new salon in Ingram Street is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Declan is an expert in hair colour and I enjoyed my first visit to this salon, leaving with a new colour and superb blow dry.

This was my first time on the city centre salon l. Jennifer was absolutely amazing, listened to what I was looking for and gave me a fabulous new cut.

Luxury five star salon in the heart of the city, gorgeous salon, relaxed atmosphere. You will find the best stylists in here, attention to detail is outstanding! My stylist Jennifer has worked wonders on my hair and I am absolutely delighted with the end result. Cannot recommended her enough!!

vivienne was amazing!! couldn't have asked for a better experience. she immediately put me at ease and worked with me to get a haircut that suited my lifestyle and requirements!! I got the best haircut I have had in a long while. The salon was a really nice and welcoming environment!

What to say? I happily send my daughters here to be styled by Declan, knowing that they are in the safest of hands in every way. He knows how to cut and deal with every one of us - long, short, curly, young and older.

On vacation and needed to get my hair cut and recolored. The reviews for this salon were positive, so I booked a haircut + a session to touch up the color in my hair, as my roots had grown out. I am so glad I chose this salon! All of the staff are extremely welcoming, friendly, and paid attention to detail. The services I received were both to perfection. While talking to the staff, something that was said to me really stuck out: “People ask me all the time which stylist is the best to book with but, honestly, every single person in here is great at their job”. I loved that! I am so happy with how my hair came out and would highly recommend this salon to anyone looking to get their hair done in Glasgow.

Great first appointment with Gareth. He took the time to understand what I wanted and also to get to know my hair. This was followed by a great cut where he explained how he was cutting it and why. He also introduced me to new techniques to help when styling. Great experience. Will be back!
