The enchanted wood An utterly delicious experience in every single way- Dan & Mitzi are the most wonderful hosts & humans you’ll ever meet (and wow can they cook 🙌), stunning location amongst the mountains & roses, DIVINE!!! You will want to come back again, & again & again! This was our 2nd time and we can’t wait to come back again! Magic xx

So good you want to keep it secret We’ve traveled all over the world, and we will be back to the ferry!!Seamless changing of reservation details prior to arrival, walked in the door to a roaring fire, home baking, bread in the bread maker and a friendly but non intrusive host, perfect This feels like a peaceful home, beautiful beds, lovely and warm with everything you need. Spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed. We loved every minute of it, it’s the perfect Qtown stop on our family tour ♥️ thanks Mitzi, Dan and whānau for taking such great care of ours

Family getaway We enjoyed a wonderful weekend away to celebrate Mum and Dad’s 60th wedding anniversary and everything about the Ferry was perfect! From the idyllic setting just 10 mins away from Queenstown, to beautiful rooms faithfully decorated in keeping with its history, to the home baked bread and cookies on our arrival. Thanks Dan and Mitzi, we will definitely be back!

Highly Recommend - Stay Here! What a fantastic stay! This was one of our favorite places. Mitzi & Dan, the hosts, were super accommodating, but also let us be, having the house to ourselves along with the other few guests to prepare meals, explore the property. They made a delicious breakfast made to order, and on a day leaving very early they packed us a sack breakfast the night before. Extremely thoughtful and courteous hosts. The location is outside of Queenstown but is an easy drive to get there, and they will give you the best way to go to avoid the traffic. We were there for three days but could have easily stayed longer.

Birthday Stay We stayed in The Ferry for the night of my birthday a few days ago, Dan and Mitzi were fabulous hosts! The stay made my birthday extra special. The B&B is absolutely stunning, we were in a little cabin just behind the actual building and it was immaculate, so warm and cosy. The location is perfect too, it’s right opposite the historic Shotover bridge and the walk underneath the B&B itself follows the river which was amazing. They even let us walk their gorgeous little dog - Mavis! Beautiful B&B and amazing location. Would totally recommend.

The Old Ferry Hotel Queenstown It had been a dream of ours to holiday in the South Island NZ but work and travel elsewhere had intervened. Upon retirement, why not begin with a stay at The Old Ferry Hotel! Just a hunch but this place looked like a home away from well, home. And so it was. Hosts Dan and Mitzi treated us to a memorable weekend in their charming retreat high above the Shotover river, Queenstown. The Old Ferry is low key, non corporate, and ticks all the boxes if, like us, you tire of hotels that could be just anywhere on the planet. We began with tea and biscuits in the farmhouse kitchen, marvelled at the well appointed room with ensuite and at day's end slept comfortably. Breakfast was a revelation (thankyou Mitzi ) with home made traditional choices and no stinting on portions. It was hard to leave The Old Ferry to explore the town beyond. We so appreciated Dan's advice on local attractions and found an excellent pub serving the best Guinness. The Old Ferry and its wonderful hosts provided this couple with simply the best weekend getaway, ever. We will return!

Superlative! Everything here is perfect. The hosts Dan and Mitzi are charming and we felt we had known them for years. Dan even suggested a small change to our itinerary which made our holiday so much better and saved us both time and money. If you want a peaceful stay in an idyllic location with charming hosts, lovely comfy bed, smashing breakfast, great shower then this is the place for you. I was missing my dog so they encouraged me to have lots of cuddles with their dog Mitzi. The silkie chickens and the guinea pigs were also very entertaining.We can't fault this place.

All the comforts of Home As we approached this Bed and Breakfast it had the feeling of being cosy. We were not disappointed. Dan made us so welcome with a cup of tea and Mitzi had baked cookies for us and the other guests to share. Our room was in keeping with the age of the building but had all the modern necessities. The bed was comfortable and there was always hot water. Breakfast was taken in the communal dining area around a single table so the conversation flowed freely. There is a choice of hot breakfasts and a great range of cereals together with preserves a plenty to eat with your home baked bread. They offered excellent advice as to what to do and where to go. A most enjoyable 3 days and to be thoroughly recommended. We did however, miss the ability to make an early morning cup of tea in our room, this was available in the kitchen, but we would have to dress to do so.

Location, comfort, friendly, country garden Mitsi & Dan are great hosts. Stayed long enough to try every hot breakfast option which were all great. Can enjoy all the delights of the area & avoid the traffic. Bile trails close by. Country comfort with additional elegant touches. Great hot shower.

Hidden Gem Everything about The Old Ferry Hotel B&B is delightful. Firstly the welcome is genuine as if you have known Mitzi and Dan for years, they truely invite you into their place. The room and bathroom was lovely decorated with an extremely comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The shared living area is inviting and homely especially when the wood fire is burning. The breakfast is just something else, like you are at a beautiful cafe with own waiter and chef that runs like clockwork. The location is perfectly hidden away from the main drag and the town centre with an easy distance to everything but away from the hustle and bustle. Loved our stay here!

Hospitality plus! The Ferry B&B is a cozy and welcoming spot for the traveller looking for a home-style experience. Owners Dan and Mitzi are just lovely folks and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was memorable. They gave us detailed, personalized instructions and maps to find various destinations, and even found us a heck of a deal online for a tour of Milford Sound. The Ferry only has 3 rooms, each small-ish, but immaculate and neat. There's an ample lounge with fireplace and comfy couches to stretch out. Breakfast was made to order and included hot and cold foods. And lots of conversation with the hosts and other guests. Like most B&B's, you stay there because you want the comforts of home with a genuine cultural experience. Dan and Mitzi offer it all. Just a note: the accommodation is located about 10 minutes outside of Queenstown.

Sensational place nearby Queenstown I love my accommodation to be full of character and this was perfect. It also had friendly local hosts. Both Dan and Mitzi were very helpful. My bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was great and the daily baked treats were delicious. I w would stay here again without hesitation.

Excellent B and B . Dan and Mitzi were so friendly and really spoilt us . Great local knowledge and great breakfast and cakes and cookies. They went above our expectations nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return again one day. Thankyou Dan and Mitzi.

Exceptional One of the best B&B I went to, the hosts are incredibly friendly and the building is lovely. The rooms are nice and clean, the breakfast is also very good and fresh.We could feel that our hosts really love what they’re doing, my dad and I had a great time there! It’s also not far from the city so it’s well located.

Excellent experience - book it! My wife and I had a lovely couple of nights with Dan and Mitzi at the Old Ferry. The place has been beautifully renovated, and the two of them put on a first-rate breakfast, one of the best we had in two weeks in NZ.And OMG the most comfortable bed EVER!

Helemaal top Mooie B&B met alles aanwezig waar je behoefte aan hebt. Dan en Mitzy zijn zeer gastvrij en doen er alles aan om het je naar de zin te maken. Een heerlijk ontbijt met een ruime keuze maken het helemaal af.Echt top!!

Unexpectedly wonderful I’m not going to lie - my premise for choosing this BnB were all of the reviews raving about the breakfast, and it did not disappoint (Would recommend the salmon)! Everything is sourced locally - the honey is from bees that feast on their flowers and the eggs from their own chickens. From the charming exterior, every item in every room has a quirky history. I loved the attention to detail. Meeting Mitzy and Dan felt like spending time with friends you hadn’t seen in years, and their hospitality was second to none. Can’t wait to return!

Fantastic Stay We stayed at this lovely Inn for three nights during a month vacation in New Zealand. We cannot say enough good things about the room and the hospitality. Dan and Mitzi were very helpful giving us ideas of what to do around Queenstown. The Inn is in a quiet area outside of the hustle bustle of Queenstown, but very close so all activities can be reached within a few minutes.The room was lovely and comfortable with all the require amenities. Comfy bed. Breakfast was great with all the continental fixings and then a cooked breakfast of choice. Highest rating all around!!!

Stay in a museum We enjoyed the hospitality of Dan and Mitsi, who are welcoming and professional. The breakfasts were great and the rooms were just right for an historic building. But what made the experience memorable was the historical significance of the place and the pictures the helped to bring this to the fore. And their puff ball chickens running around the back yard were a hoot.
