Very disappointing experience. August 2023 we had a family member in need of assisted living care. We toured the facility and was given an intake packet but told rooms were filling up fast. Part of the packet completion was medical clearance which we did not have that day, but I asked if I could leave a check in good faith to hold while I scheduled the doctor's evaluation. Less than 2 weeks later, our family member was hospitalized with a serious illness and we were told our loved one could not be discharged to assisted living and would have to be discharged to a permanent skilled nursing facility. I immediately called Front Porch to let them know our situation had drastically changed, offered to provide the documentation from the hospital, and asked if the check could be returned since we would no longer be able to get medical clearance. I was told all deposits were non-refundable - I expressed that this situation was not that we had just changed our minds but that we had a major medical incident which is requiring 24/7 skilled nursing and further expressed that the check was given in good faith while we scheduled medical clearance and that at no time were we told they would deposit our check and deem it "non-refundable" without having the appropriate documentation in their files. Our loved one was in a financial situation where this money would be a great help for the mounting medical bills and impending need for continuous care. I was simply told "I don't know - we can ask the manager". To further attempt to remedy on our end, I asked if this deposit could be used for another family member who had planned to move into the facility and I was simply told "I doubt it but I'll ask". I asked for a follow up to see what our options were. It's now August 2024 and there has been zero response to any of my requests - not even the courtesy of a follow up after stating they would speak to the manager and ask about options. If non-refundable is the policy no matter the situation, then accepting a check in good faith while documentation was being obtained should never have been given an option without knowledge of this policy. I am very disappointed in how this whole situation was handled and continues to be ignored.

I did receive a message requesting further understanding of the situation; however, this skewed version of facts was published before I was given the opportunity to provide that further understanding or simply have my voice heard. Clearly there is no need for further discussion as I have attempted for a year to reach out with absolutely no response until I finally decided to give a review to warn families that when doing business with your company, they need not trust any implied good faith practices. My lesson learned can hopefully save another elderly person and their family.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficult times you and your family have been going through. We attempted to reach you and left a voicemail. To clarify, the fee was paid after you signed our room reservation form, which clearly states that no refunds are given once a room is reserved. This policy offers families the flexibility to reserve a room for up to 30 days, but it also prevents us from offering the room to others during that time. In your case, two families were interested in the same room, but by the time you canceled, they had found other options. The fee helps cover the cost of lost opportunities when reservations are canceled. We would have been happy to apply the fee to another related party wishing to become a resident, but this needed to happen within the same 30-day reservation window. Unfortunately, we were unable to apply your reservation fee to a future reservation window, as most of the initial reservation period had already been used.

We moved my mother in law (Nannie Jimmie) in the Front Porch of Bowden in July 2023. She was loved and cared for by some of the best people that I have come across. They fed the residents so good. Nannie didn't eat her snacks because she was too full. Some one was always bringing stuff in. I am even guilty of that. She met some wonderful friends Sandra, Dean, Agnes, Barbara and so many others. The caregivers are amazing and do a wonderful job. The activity coordinator (Susan) loves these residents and wants them all to participate and have fun in bingo, crafting, and other activities whether inside or out. The residents love it when you bring kids in to entertain them. Chere is the best manager that anyone could ask for. I always enjoy our talks and visits. Thank you all for taking such good care of Nannie Jimmie. I am thankful, grateful, and very blessed to have met all of you. We love and appreciate Mike as well. I hope his surgery goes well.❤️❤️

I can not say enough wonderful things about the Front Porch. In the last 2.5 years we have moved in and out of several facilities. By far this was the most pleasant living environment. Always clean, no smells so bright and homey feeling
My mother in law just passed this weekend. The kindness and love the staff had for us during this process was above and beyond.

Great people who really care about the residents. They are going through some updates with the new ownership from Majestic Senior Living, but they have a lot of interesting stuff planned. Looking forward to seeing the place become a staple of the community again!
