To not only get to be so close and personal with such beautiful birds, to also learn the individual stories behind each bird and their history was a lovely touch and made each bird more special. An amazing experience I went Hawkeye Falconry on a photography experience. It was an amazing day. A warm welcome at the start from Alistair, and Steve the photography lead, and it just got better and better, with a fabulous range of birds to photograph throughout the day. I took so many photos and got expert help on camera settings and tips and tricks particularly for capturing birds in flight. Alistair was so generous with his time and gave us lots of information about each of the birds.

Fantastic flights I had a fantastic time at Thoresby Park, meeting Alistair and a selection of magnificent birds of prey. Alistair guided me expertly with each through woodland or open fields. It was an exhilarating and magical experience - highly recommended!

Exceptional I had expected to quite enjoy this but it exceeded all expectations. It was made very interesting in terms of the origins and characteristics of the different birds. The participation aspect was excellent. Thank you, Alastair, for a wonderful afternoon. We enjoyed it enormously and hope to try again.

A stunning opportunity to get fantastic photos of majestic Birds of Prey The birds of prey photography experience was purchased as a present for myself after some heavy hinting following attending an excellent experience with Alistair and his birds during a picnic in the park last year. I had photographed animals and birds in a mostly stationary manor previously, so was excited to not only get up close and personal with some magnificent birds of prey, but also to have to chance to learn how to photograph them in action. The day was well organised by both Alistair and Steve in a secluded spot within the beautiful Thorsby estate. Starting with a brief introduction and some recommended camera settings from Steve, we started easy (relatively) with static portrait shots and slow flying owls. It was clear from the get go that both Alistair and Steve know their stuff, with Alistair giving fascinating information about the birds he has such a clear passion for and Steve advising the best angles to set up shots from. The woodland location really adds to the photos of the portrait shots, giving a more natural feel, rather than the perches you would expect to see. Alistair and Steve were also conscious to pick locations that hides any tracking wires/harnesses, so this was also appreciated for a photography day. After giving us ample opportunity with various locations of the flying owls within the woodland, we ventured into the walled garden, which was another great location for photography! I have never seen a melanistic barn owl before, so this was a treat, but the oranges of the walled garden accentuated the colours of bird so such a great choice. During our time in the walled garden we were also reminded why Thorsby is such a good location - a wild red kite and buzzards flew over our heads! It is worth remembering that animals and children are amongst the most difficult subjects to photograph due to their unpredictability and their tendency for ignoring instructions, however, it is clear Alistair is well experienced and has such a unique bond and there was always plenty of opportunity to get a great photo. Following our lunch break, we moved onto fast moving birds like falcons. Personally, I found this more challenging - not helped by the change of lighting conditions thanks to the good old British weather, however, I still came away with some good tips from Steve and a couple of photos that I liked. Overall, I had such a great day and I would recommend this experience to anyone who has an interest in bird photography or birds of prey in general. It has taken me a while to go through all the photos but friends and family are impressed with the results and hopefully I will be able to return in future with different conditions (winter/autumn) for what I am sure would be an equally awesome day.

Perfect Silver Wedding Anniversary Gift from my Hubby 🥰 We had the most wonderful time today with Alistair and his wonderful birds! (I hope I don’t get this wrong!) We flew Milo the Striped Owl, Domino the Spectacled Owl (he was a bit naughty! 😂), Trigger the Harris Hawk, Rocky the Verreaux's eagle-owl (I think! 😬), Clover the Ural Owl, Otto the Peregrine (also a bit naughty) and my favourite… Squeak the Melanistic Barn Owl simply because I’ve never seen a dark Barnie before! 😍 Alistair is very knowledgeable and has a wonderful array of tales to tell of his birds. The setting is beautiful and with only 6 folks flying the birds it’s all very intimate, friendly and not at all rushed. Alistair clearly adores his birds and they are so well cared for … and it shows! I’m really not surprised this Bird of Prey Experience is booked out most of the time!

Birds Of Prey Experience (Family) A great day for all the family, Alistair was amazing, very knowledgeable and great with the kids (even the nervous one) Amazing birds and to see them in a semi natural environment is worth its weight in gold. I would recommend the experiences to any family or group as it so personal, by the time we had finished even the nervous child was holding the birds and had a great time, which you definitely can't put a price on. Great day, great family experience, learned things on the way will definitely be doing this again.

A mesmerizing day of bird of prey photography I was bought a bird of prey photography session with Hawkeye Falconry. I can completely recommend booking with them. alistair and Steve were superb throughout the day. Once everyone had arrived, there was a quick run through of the planned birds for the day and typical camera settings to use. Then it was straight into photographing the first bird of the day. Alistair was really good with explaining about the birds we were photographing and Steve was ever present helping out where help was needed. I had some lens issues early on but switched to a trusty long lens that played ball. To be honest, if none of the shots had turned out, I wouldn't have been upset because the experience of being around the birds was enough to make the day. I shot just shy of 1000 frames during the day which gave me around 400 that were worthy of post processing. I wouldn't have got the hawk shots without Steves voice over my shoulder calmly telling me when the best time to track and focus was before shooting a short burst of frames. We will be heading back again later in the year for another shoot as long as it doesn't get booked up before I have written this review. Thanks for an unforgettable day!

Best birds of prey photographic experience in the UK (in my humble opinion). Recently attended a Bird of Prey Photographic experience with Alistair and his beautiful birds and can only describe it as superb. If you are a novice photographer or an experienced one you will love the day, great venue, a selection of amazing owls and hawks with the opportunity to photograph them in natural surroundings and in flight. If you need help with taking shots then this is freely given and you will learn about the birds too. Very reasonably priced and, in my opinion, not to be missed (have been five or more times myself and will go again for sure)..
