Yes, the rumours are true Stayed overnight here after a friends wedding and was very taken with it. It was the only hotel nearby we could get, which could be interpreted as an ominous sign, but in actually I’ve only got good things to say about it. Well ok, a slight correction to that. The 3 bed room isn’t really suitable for 3 adults but that may well have been advertised as such so that’s on us for leaving a booking last minute. That’s not because of a lack of space, because the 2 room suite was fantastic, but the bed frame on the bunk beds certainly wasn’t going to take the weight of an adult. The aforementioned space did allow for the mattress to be taken off and put on the floor, so everyone’s a winner, Room was clean, well furnished, with kettle and biscuits (not even cheap ones, Border biscuits!) and the bathroom also spacious with a nice, good shower. Breakfast came with the room and was a good quality traditional Scottish fry up. Located nicely on the Main Street of Biggar, across from a few pubs and small shops, location can’t really be faulted either. Overall, good value, nice room and an altogether good experience

Great hotel - well equipped - spotless. Very helpful staff. Clean, quiet, well decorated, spacious room with a great en suite. Desk and chair in the room. They took a lot of sensible Covid precautions. Good choice at breakfast. Would stay here again.

Pit stop on route to Scotland Myself and my husband stayed here on a week night in November as a pit stop from Leicester onto Scotland to do the NC500. No onsite parking but plenty of free street parking. Check in was quick. Friendly welcome and showed us to our room. We stayed in room 2 which had plenty of space. Sloping roof with sky light. Room was spotless. Shower over bath. Fresh milk and water in the fridge with biscuits and good choice of hot beverages. We had to pre order breakfast and time slot due to Covid restrictions still in place. Woke up the next morning to find no WiFi. They had no electricity in half the building, which affected the kitchen. They did everything they could to handle a difficult situation. We left with full bellys and that was the main thing, even if it wasn't perfect. Contactless check out made it very easy. The only reason it has not had a 5* is the mattress needs attention. It was a sprung mattress, but you could feel the coils in places which made it a bit of an uncomfortable night's sleep. Music at breakfast would have been a nice small addition to improve the overall experience. Good value for money, I would recommend and stay again with a more comfortable mattress. Thank you!

Lovely hotel Stayed last night with my husband. Hotel is very nice and the staff could not be more helpful. Felt a little unwell this morning and they allowed my hubby to bring me breakfast in bed. Only complaint was it was only one night! Will be back soon.

Lovely hotel, would recommend! What a lovely place to stay! The staff we met were very nice. Good location with lots of free parking very close by. Our family room was big and had everything we needed. The bathroom was lovely - clean and modern. Breakfast was delicious. We all slept very well. We'd definitely stay here again. Not really any negatives to mention: it was a wee bit chilly in the room (but it's an old building and the weather had just turned very cold!) and perhaps more than 2 teas & 2 coffees for a room for 4 people. But these are only small points, overall it was great and would definitely recommend, thank you!

A lovely, peaceful stay in a family run hotel The Kirkstyle is a lovely family run hotel. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfy, shower powerful and all the personal touches were lovely. There was a fridge in the room with a bottle of milk and water ready for us to use. The area is so quiet so we had a lovely nights sleep. There was a great choice of breakfast and lunch. We had both and the meals were delicious and great value for money. The staff were lovely and friendly. Nothing was a problem and they phoned in advance to see it we needed anything before we arrived. Due to this attention to detail we were able to book dinner for our arrival in a local restaurant and taxis for going to a wedding. There were many lovely shops and pubs to explore around the hotel. The hotel has a lovely outside area which was set up for passing cyclists and dog owners. Friendly to all. We will definitely be back.

Family night My sister in law and myself stayed in the Albion suite. Beautiful large family suite. Absolutely love this hotel, I have stayed several times, and will continue to stay here whenever possible. Breakfast cooked to order was delicious, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great until breakfast We made a booking for room 11 and 12 to stay at your hotel on Saturday 11th September. Rooms were nice and really liked the shower room in room 11. Overall it was a great experience and a great stay for us until the next morning when 3 of us went down for breakfast. The 4th member of our party decided not to have breakfast so stayed in the room. When we got seated we ordered our food and requested for the 4th breakfast to be cancelled. Around 10 mins later our 4th member decided he was coming down for breakfast afterall so we informed the waitress that we would like to have that 4th breakfast afterall. The waitress (an older lady) then went into your open plan kitchen to relay this onto the chef (blonde haired lady). This chef turned round, shook her head and said "A***holes" to her waitress colleague. We found this very unprofessional behaviour to be speaking about your customers like this. Also a bit of advice, if you are going to have an open view kitchen then maybe the staff should be smart enough not to talk about customers in such manner?? Anyway we brought this up with the waitress who said she didn't hear anything, strange as we heard it from the seating area whilst she was right next to this chef. It is unfortunate that such a great stay had to be ruined by one small incident. Your members of staff will probably deny this happened. Question is why would we go out of our way to make something like this up? Overall it would have been a great experience however with the rude encounter at breakfast this has put a negative to experience.

Lovely Old Hotel Lovely overnight stay at the Kirkstyle Hotel traditional room with all mod cons needed. The hotel is Georgian style with a small courtyard for sunny days. Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast became unavailable due to the chef being unwell and this was explained to us and dealt with professionally with a part refund being given. We traveled with our small dog who was welcomed to the room with a blanket, bowl and treats. No hotel parking but we found a free long stay car park located just behind the hotel and next to a handy co op supermarket. Biggar itself is so charming don’t miss The Braes park a short walk from the hotel, dinner and drinks at the Crown Inn across the road were amazing!

Really good Lovely little place. Very clean and friendly. Rooms nice. It has a good breakfast. It's all you could want from a small town stop over. Would definitely recommend. We arrived late and they were happy to stay and welcome us. No fuss. Its little touches like this that make a place.

Immaculate and friendly! My husband and I stayed one night to attend a nearby wedding, hotel was easy to find and we parked across road. We were delighted that our room was ready early for us so we could get changed and head to wedding venue in plenty of time. Our room was very clean, spacious and quiet with everything we needed, large comfortable bed, mini fridge, etc. Taxi service to and from venue was recommended by hotel and was excellent. All staff we met were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our breakfast ordered in advance was tasty and service was excellent! All COVID guidelines were well practised and we felt very comfortable. We would highly recommend this hotel!

Great Hotel Great Hotel to stay in, very friendly staff, delicious breakfast clean and well appointed rooms. Only negative bad Wifi kept coking out and Vodafone signal 1 bar but that’s not the hotel’s fault. Parking adequate across the road

Efficient and friendly We stayed for one night to break the journey from Mull to Shropshire. Phone booking was very efficient (though a booking fee of £1 seems to have been charged) and evening arrival and reception friendly and efficient. Prior booking of breakfast during reception worked well. Room - with garden view - very pleasant and comfortable with good shower and plenty of hot water. The Crown Inn in the square was most welcoming for a late tapas meal with well kept beer. (Next time we will tell them we were staying at the Kirkstyle - now gather this may have led to a 10% reduction on the bill!) Breakfast at the Kirkstyle was excellent and the pre ordering worked well. Small details such as modifying the strength of the coffee, providing a jug of hot water and insistence on Covid-19 distancing in the breakfast room were appreciated. The sort of informal, but well organised hotel it is pleasant to stay in.

Could do better Stayed at the kirkstyle for two nights whilst attending a wedding in the area. Check in was slightly chaotic, lady on desk Mary? insisted on us completing our breakfast order for the following day before allowing us the keys to our room, at 3pm in the afternoon after driving since 10am breakfast the next morning was the last thing on my mind. Once in the room I was shocked to find an unexpected extra floating in the toilet bowl... Bathroom sink was also pitted with dirt, which in these times is unexceptable. Bed was comfortable and room a decent size.. Breakfast was acceptable on the first day, on the second morning we did not receive the toast we had ordered after waiting for 20 mins we left. We will not be back.

Lovely friendly immaculately clean hotel We stayed twice at this lovely friendly hotel, breaking our long drive from Wiltshire to Moray and back again. Our room was spacious, with a huge bed, two big comfy leather armchairs and a big tv. There was also a decent sized fridge which we used for snacks and a bottle of wine and fizzy water. A fluffy blanket had been put out for our dog with two bowls and some doggy treats. The breakfasts are fantastic. Very generous portions with 'real' sausages, bacon and Stornoway black pudding. The creamy porridge is a must ! For an evening meal we went over to The Crown, opposite, where you'll be given 10% off if you're staying at The Kirkstyle.

A top quality hotel in a lovely little town. This is our second visit here and the standards are still high. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the village with ample parking nearby. Check in was efficient and friendly. Our room (No 7) was large, very smart, well appointed and very comfortable. The only criticism is that the wi-fi was consistently sporadic and I had to rejoin every few minutes. This might not be a huge issue for a pensioner on holiday, but it would be most annoying for people who really need the connection. For breakfast we both selected the Full Scottish and it was substantial and very good, with top quality produce perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and efficient. As a town, Biggar is in a lovely part of the country and has much to offer, and the Kirkstyle is a very good hotel indeed. It is now our hotel of choice in the area and we look forward to our next visit.

I had two very comfortable nights. Outstanding breakfast on both mornings of Egg Florentine being the highlight. No evening meal because of Covid, so I made up for that with a generous breakfast that I was allowed! THANK YOU! On my first morning they kindly allowed me to stay until 12 noon, having had four long days hill walking in the hills, visiting 'Donalds'.

Lunch time food Called in on the of chance of having lunch, had to wait a couple of minutes for a table, staff were very welcoming and friendly food was very good and plenty of it all covid friendly will use again when in the area Would recommend booking in advance

Wow, lovely little hotel Lovely little place, very clean, very well organised and covid secure. Staff are so friendly and emails are replied to quickly. Comfortable bedroom and well appointed bathroom. Would stay here again in a flash, thanks guys xx

Mouth-watering afternoon tea served by welcoming, friendly staff in the Courtyard Cafe!! The afternoon tea was delicious! The cakes were some of the nicest cakes I have had in a while/ever (and I eat a lot of cake! lol!!). The courtyard cafe has tasteful decor and was impeccably clean and tidy. However, what really set this place above the bar was the staff!! The staff were not only welcoming and helpful but also very friendly and warm (despite us still being there a while after the kitchen had closed). I am sure I will return her and would definitely recommend the Courtyard Café for a lovely place to meet friends for lunch/afternoon tea etc.
