The wedding dress Michaell handmade for me kind of changed my life! I’ve never felt such a deep sense of connection to an article of clothing! It is utterly stunning, and made me feel more beautiful than I have ever felt before. It is timeless but also exceptionally original — one of my wedding guests said it seemed to encapsulate the past, present and future. More than anything, it is just purely ME. It expresses the most lovely and authentic part of me. When I put it on I immediately felt my essence radiating from me, and I felt that incredibly open-hearted radiance for the entire wedding. It was pure magic. At the end of the night, when I took off the dress and hung it up, I felt sad that the wedding was over and I would never wear it again in this way. But I also felt a deep sense of love for this beautiful object - almost like it had a spirit itself! I went to bed with a huge and happy heart. I came to Michaell with a vague sense of what I wanted (a few pictures from Pinterest) and a wedding in 6 WEEKS! She worked tirelessly to construct a dress that was, literally, perfect. She shares her opinions very openly (and was frequently right) but was also open to hearing my tastes and preferences. I will forever be grateful to her for making a dream come true that I didn’t even know I had. She is a craftswoman and a magician! I am beyond happy I didn’t buy a dress off the rack… Designing this dress with Michaell was a creative and exciting project that showed me why we make such a big deal out of these wedding dresses… they are symbolic expressions of a big rite of passage. And I am very fortunate to have found Michaell for this experience. Thank you thank you! PS - I haven’t received my photos from the photographer yet, so this is the best photo of I have currently! But you can see how lovely she is :)

Michaell is such a talented couture dressmaker. Her work is very fine and she created such a lovely dress for me. Michaell has a wonderful eye for what flatters and I loved wearing my dress. She is also a pleasure to work with and truly aims to please. I highly recommend Michaell!

My wife and I wanted two unique special looks for our fall wedding and Michaell delivered! We worked with Michaell to bring our vision to reality. She collaborated with us to improve on our ideas—our final looks were even better than we could have hoped. Our guests to a one commented on our beautiful looks that were clearly not off the rack and fit each of us perfectly.

Michaell designed and created my absolutely stunning wedding dress. I had a vague idea of what I wanted, and over the course of several visits and fittings we honed in on a design that would best flatter me and a style befitting the occasion, which was a relaxed but elegant wedding at a private home in the country. The details are exquisite, from the horsehair hem to the decorative fabric buttons up the back, and I got many compliments on the look. The final iteration of my wedding dress merits all five stars of this review.

Michaell is very kind and is able to help with anything you ask for, I definitely recommend her work! She made a time for me immediately and offered to create all my ideas I wanted in my wedding dress. 5 stars!

Michaell Lynn is a hugely talented dress designer. For much of her career, she worked in Paris with several notable couture houses and this foundation shows in her design work. Michaell has conceived of, designed and made several items for me, including a full length green silk gown for my wedding, a red silk cocktail dress, a grey high necked silk cocktail dress, a beautiful print day dress with inbuilt seams and a full organza ball skirt with petticoat for a white tie event. She has a very consultative approach and is able to create designs that are flattering, elegant and thoroughly unique. She goes above and beyond for her clients to make sure that they are happy, and has built a loyal following for this reason. Everyone should own one (if not many!) of Michaell Lynn’s designs!

Michaell is the best dressmaker I’ve found in New York! I’ve been working with her for over a year now, and I haven’t found a job she can’t handle. Not only is she professional and responsive to all my communication, but she’s also a creative artist who works with you to make sure your desires are met and then some! Her work is the highest quality, and she finishes jobs within the timeframe specified.

Michaell was the perfect person to work with on my mother of the bride dress. Everything was done “seamlessly” no issues along the way, my outfit was exactly what I wanted and beautifully tailored. I would highly recommend Michaell for a custom piece and even alterations! Both Michaell and her sweet beagle Madison, were always so welcoming!

Michaell is wonderful to work with. I went to her after my sister had used her for her own wedding dress alterations and I knew I would be in good hands. She had great ideas of how to change my dress to be perfect for what I wanted and knew exactly what needed to be done. She is easy to talk to, listens to what you want, and has a great eye for design. I never felt stressed about how my dress would turn because I knew I could trust her with getting my wedding dress to fit perfectly. I would definitely recommend Michaell and would go to her again in the future for other dress needs.

Michaell made me the PERFECT mother of the bride dress for my daughter’s wedding last year. I wear a larger size so I knew I wanted something that would be flattering and comfortable and I had a design in mind. Michaell listened thoughtfully to my ideas then drew a sketch that was exactly what I wanted. I do not live in NYC so when I visited she graciously made herself available for fittings and I felt a strong partnership every step of the way. My dress got so many wonderful compliments with people telling me I had never looked better and I was thrilled. I look forward to wearing my special dress for years to come. This was my first experience with a made to order dress and I highly recommend Michaell. She is patient, thoughtful and creative.

I called Michaell at around 6:00 pm on a Tuesday and told her I need an emergency alteration for a maid of honor dress. She told me to come in that night. I arrived and she was so welcoming. I put on the dress to show her where I wanted it altered. She was able to identify where the dress was previously sewn wrong by a different person in a different borough and where it needed to be correctly altered. She gave me a robe, I took off the dress, and she immediately started working on it. I sat there patiently while she altered my dress and it was worth the wait. About an hour and a half later I walked out with a newly designed beautiful maid of honor dress. I am so thankful for her ability to accomodate me last minute and having the dress ready for me the same night that I brought it in. The outcome was great! Thank you again!

Michaell helped with my sister’s maid of honor dress. We went for alterations and left with a gorgeous new creation! Michaell is very creative and came up with a genius idea to add delicate lace to the bottom of a silk dress. She was easy to communicate with (via text) and was able to accommodate our busy schedule (early morning or late night appointments). If you need a dress to impress, go see Michaell!

Michaell is amazing. Though I had nearly no idea what kind of dress I wanted, Michaell was able to design a beautiful piece that matched my personality and my occasion perfectly. She listens intensely and uses her vast expertise and creative vision to make your dress come to life. She cares so much about her work and making sure the client has the best experience. I went to Michaell for a special dress for my son’s wedding. She did not disappoint. The dress was beautiful and flowing . Great for dancing. And just fun. Michaell accommodated my crazy schedule for fittings and had wonderful design suggestions as the dress developed.

I went to Michaell wanting to feel like Ginger Rogers in Swing Time on my wedding day and the dress she designed and made for me made it happen. I was quite nervous to have a custom dress made, but the time and care she took to understand what I was looking for and the clear pride she takes in her work put my mind at ease. She took the time to research styles from the 1930s and came up with three beautiful designs for me to choose from and even modified the one I chose after we discussed the design some more. The result was a dress that truly reflected me and made me feel amazing. There were even several people who said our first dance was reminiscent of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers!

When looking for a designer for my wedding dress, I did A LOT of research on designers in NYC. Not only because of the importance of this garment, but also because I was in a unique situation. I had gone all the way to Burano, Italy, a small island near Venice where rare authentic handmade lace was made, to get the material for my dress. I needed someone who I could be confident had a strong understanding of this type of material, not only because it was rare and delicate, but because I wanted this to someday be an heirloom. I interviewed many designers, but hadn't found one that "clicked."; until I met Michaell. I went to her studio, and was greeted in the hallway by her happy little beagle puppy Madison (who is a good fur friend to this day). She greeted me at the door with peppermint tea (one of my faves), and I felt instantly at home. Her quiet and calm demeanor told me that she was confident in her designs and the quality of her work, as she should be. I had no clue as to what I really envisioned beyond a few adjectives. Michaell took my vague descriptions and my unconventional irreplaceable material, and working with my body type, created a dress that was everything I never even knew I wanted. Beyond the fact that this dress was absolutely perfect: romantic, timeless, classic, unique, the experience of working with Michaell was also all of those things. Her design was spot on. I think it should be mentioned that during the process of working together, I became very ill and began to drop weight. By the time the wedding neared I had lost nearly 35 pounds. Michaell was not only a deeply comforting confidant during this difficult time, she assured me that no matter what happened with my health, my dress would fit like a dream. Admittedly, she had to do more adjustments than I'm sure she typically has to with her brides due to my rapid weight loss, but she never faltered. She was patient, empathetic, kind, and that dress fit to indescribable perfection. Not to mention is was so comfortable that I danced, ate, and ran around the whole wedding without feeling stifled or suffocated. Michaell is a master of design, there's no doubt about that, but she has also become a good friend, as it is part of her inherit personality is to put the bride before the money. There was never a doubt that she was personally invested in making me feel beautiful and unique, not only on my wedding day, but every time I went to see her. Since then, I have commissioned her to design two gorgeous linen dresses, and a stunning jacket in purple, all of which you can see versions of on her website. As a high-end designer, Michaell respected my precious and rare textile, my body type, and me as a person. This isn't just getting a seamstress to make a dress, this is an experience of working with a true couturier. I can't recommend MM Design NYC any higher.
