3.5 stars. coconut lime broth from the cod was delicious. happy hr days vary from online vs. in store. they honored the happy hr prices on a sunday (that is what their website says). Malaysian noodles were so spicy with chili oil (we asked to be on the side) but the waiter said it was mild. My toddler could not eat it. There was a lot of chili oil already in the dish. My asian husband said his mouth was on fire (and he loves spicy). The $14 2 tiny bao buns was an insane price for what you got. I would come back for that cod dish just because of the delicious broth. Service friendly and quick!

We walked about 3 miles to get to the Monarch, and we were not disappointed. I was a bit run down, so when we arrived I immediately sat down at an outdoor table. The owner came out and greeted me with a glass of water and didn’t ask if I was earning at his restaurant. It was simply an act of kindness (which I appreciated). We went upstairs to the outdoor deck and had a lovely dinner and enjoyed the ambiance of the hip little neighborhood. The food and service were outstanding!

Came here for Sunday brunch. Waiter (Jacob) did not check on the table a single time. After an hour and a half of waiting (and the rest of my party receiving their food), we asked to check on my meal, only to find that he never put it in. He kindly offered to give us a meal to-go on the house. We waited another 30 minutes, but the meal never came. The waiter (Jacob) was very indifferent to the error and not apologetic at all. Very, very disappointing. Would not recommend. Plenty of other spots nearby with much better service

Great set of dishes! The cod, cabbage, and pork belly fried rice in particular were standouts. Chicken dumplings and Malaysian Noodles were good too. Lowkey vibe, which is nice.

The food here was amazing. Highly recommend the chicken ginger dumplings. Honestly surprised this place hasn’t blown up yet, best meal out that I’ve had in a while.

I am SO CONFUSED why this hasn’t blown up yet!!!! Absolutely delicious, such great service, can’t say enough good things. get the cauliflower!!

Fresh food - you can taste it with great flavor and great decor that makes you feel at home the cod in coconut lime broth and the Yuzu key lime pie are definitely my fav dish!

I fall for any food that has black sesame. Their black sesame French toast did not disappoint! It was not too sweet (a compliment from Asians on desert/sweet things). It had a strong black sesame flavor in the brioche and the black sesame ice cream on top. The pumpkin butter also went well with it. The cauliflower poppers were pretty good, chewy like rice cakes with the use of rice flour. Good section of vegan items including desserts. The salad was just average and the matcha latte was way too sweet. Looking forward to coming back to try the other items on the menu. Update: ube pancakes were super fluffy and not too sweet. Loved the maitake mushroom bao bun too. The hungry panda was also very flavorful and tasty. Lots of vegan options. The homemade bread and baked goods were very good.

Had a fantastic experience here! The food was excellent and the atmosphere was cool and unique. I also love that they had an entire menu of vegan options. The mushroom & edamame dumplings were out of this world. Will have to come back for brunch!!

Tasty asian food. Friendly staff. Impeccable service. I highly recommand it. We seated outside and with the nice breeze, we had a lovely time there.

The restaurant's decor is classic, featuring two stories with a balcony. The appetizers come in small portions and are very photogenic. The service is professional.

Lowkey one of the best restaurants in Williamsburg. Every single thing on the item is delicious. Vegan/veg options are out of this world. For dinner: the spicy cabbage and bok choy as starters + eggplant as a main. For brunch, raspberry jam scone and hungry panda. Drinks: three kingdoms margarita or one of the sakes from the extensive list.
