Had such an amazing experience this afternoon in this gem on Francis Street. Mahmut is an absolute gentleman and gave me and my sister (first time home owners on a budget) a great deal. Would definitely recommend for quality rugs and great service! We are absolutely delighted 🤩

Horrible rude staff when asked the price of a rug they laughed as I was leaving among themselves not business people horrible quiet surprised as the fabulous shops in the antique quarters are so lovely as is the staff in them don’t recommend this place

Over the years, I've bought quite a few rugs from Mahmut Balkir in his Francis Street, Dublin 8 shop (an area which has been revitalised/landscaped with trees & benches not far from St. Patrick's Cathedral). My most recent buys were in July 2024. He also cleaned & repaired several older rugs my cats tried hard to vandalise :) It is clear Mahmut puts his life and soul into his job and stock. He has a great design eye and is knowledgeable about a wide variety of rugs, has wonderful taste and offers high quality products at terrific prices. He's often offered a coffee or some pastry or Turkish delight just to welcome customers. Just shopping in his store is a pleasure akin to visiting a Turkish souk, but in Dublin! I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Incredible quality and great service. Mahmut knows everything there is to know about every one of his rugs, and he works hard with each customer to make sure they have all the information they need to make the right choice. He only carries authentic, handmade woolen rugs from Iran and Turkey and the area. We're thrilled with our beautiful new rug.

I bought 2 rugs recently . Mamhut let me take them home to see if I liked them first. I thought those days were gone!!! The selection in the shop is second to none and I wish I had discovered this shop years ago . My next purchase on my wish list are some of the fabulous cushions in an assortment of patters, material etc . This shop is a gem with exceptional customer service 👍👍

Wow! Little Istanbul in The Liberties. Expect good coffee and nice chats every-time when you enter Mahmut’s store. I’m so happy with the two 4x3m carpets he adviced me. Such quality and such beauty, for a fair price. Enjoying them every day!

It’s a perfect experience! Shop keeper is so kind that he delivered to my house, he also gave some candies. All in all, everything is perfect! There are so so many different styles of blankets that available to choose. I believe you can find the favorite one. The blanket makes the house warm. It’s a blanket shop full of love and warm.

First rate rug buying experience at Oriental Rug Co. Dublin. Mahmut Balkir was eager to show every rug in the shop. Which we took him up on, enjoying the attention and service. We ended up with 5 rugs for our Ramelton apartment and are happy now to know Mahmut and two of his lovely daughters. Really great retail!

You'll be surrounded by beautiful Turkish, Afghan, and Persian carpets and kilims, new and vintage, colourful lanterns, cushions, and more.
Mahmud is well established in Dublin, he even remembers my Mum buying a carpet from him back in the 1990s! The shop is a jewel in the treasure box that is The Liberties area of Dublin.
Oh, and while you're there, you may even want to buy a rug! For me, it was the obvious choice to complete my house decoration. Thank you Mahmud.

I highly recommend Oriental Rugs. It was a pleasure to deal with Mahmut who was extremely helpful and to learn about the history of the Persian rug I bought. It is also great that he has a cleaning service which I will definitely avail of in future.

Had the nicest experience buying kilims, pillows and a beautiful turkish lamp, there’s an amazing choice of colours,sizes and textures. Wouldn’t go anywhere else and seriously recommend this shop, quality, all handmade and the owner is super helpful and very kind!
