Awesome Experience! Very nice staff and helpful pilot!!! I would recommend them anytime!

On Sunday, September 1, we visited Reykjavik Helicopters and met with Olga for a potential aerial tour of the most recent volcano eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula. We originally wanted to do the 12:00 PM tour but due to weather conditions, Olga informed us that all flights were cancelled for the remainder of the day. Then later that afternoon as weather conditions cleared, Olga was extremely prompt, courteous, and helpful in getting us scheduled on the 7:00 PM flight. We really appreciated Olga’s and Reykjavik Helicopters' concern for passenger safety – kudos to Reykjavik Helicopters for that!!! At 7:00 PM we were airborne on their helicopter with our pilot Sigurros who did an outstanding job adeptly flying the helicopter as well as providing us detailed information and history behind all the sites we were going to fly over. She went over all safety protocols and ensured we were all securely buckled in before starting the engines. During the flight she flew over the points of interest twice to ensure that passengers sitting on both sides of the helicopter got an unobstructed view. Flying over an active erupting volcano was a once in a lifetime experience. While the tour is a little splurge on a visit to Iceland, we whole-heartedly encourage everyone to enjoy this experience with Reykjavik Helicopters, a family-owned business, who did an outstanding job with the tour, and we highly recommend without hesitation.

We had a great time and Rose is a very skilled pilot to handle the high winds as well as she did. Bad weather caused us to cancel our original two hour flight, but the short flight to the erupting volcanoes was still very good. We are so glad we were there during the eruption. We would do it again.

Our pilot Solveig was great and gave us amazing views on our flight over the volcanic eruption as well as being informative and educational. I did a helicopter tour over the new active volcano and would highly recommend Reykjavík Helicopters. My tour was 1 day after the volcano started erupting and it was very efficient to book a tour and arrange a time via email. It was a very windy day but Solveig was an excellent pilot and the flight felt very smooth. I would highly recommend doing a helicopter tour over the active volcano if you get a chance and would in particular recommend Reykjavik Helicopters.

We heard about this tour company from a couple at dinner who had an outstanding experience with them. So I immediately contacted via email and they responded very quickly with options for the next available tour. Everything was low pressure and we just had to confirm the time and date via email. We showed up, paid, and got on the helicopter after a short review by the pilot of what we would be doing. The pilot was very friendly, took pictures of couples in our group next to the helicopter and gave us a lot of descriptions during the flight about what we were seeing. He opened the little sliding window on his side so I could get better photos with my phone without the plexiglass interfering in the photos. All in all a fantastic experience. Everyone was very professional and friendly. Would definitely book them again for the next volcano!

Flying over an actively erupting volcano with spilling lava aside (!), the company was great including Olgas last minute communication and our pilot was so nice, even sharing her awe at what I think this was her first time flying over his recently erupted volcano site. We did the volcano tour during the august eruption and was amazing! The staff is very helpful and we got lucky and got a last minute spot. The flight was amazing, we saw the eruption from close with a lot of views and then proceed to see the area with lots of the past crates and it was so amazing and informative! The pilot is very experienced (more than 20 years). The pilot explained the area we are flying to on a map and pointed things during the flight, made sure everyone sees the eruption well and asked about our well being during the flight. It was the best money spend in Iceland, a truly memory of a life time. Would definitely recommend!

We went on a tour with Solveig one day after the eruption near Grindavik. The booking process was super simple with a quick email exchange, clear instructions on how to get there and what to do. Had a nice chat with the owner of the company who shared some icelandic insights and then we were off. It was super windy in the morning so the company made clear early on they would only start if it’s 100% safe to go. We felt very well taken care off by Solveig, got there and back safe and sound. She really took the time to position the helicopter in the best angles and we just had astonishing sights on a volcano eruption! A once in a lifetime experience. We booked a private flight which is recommended for the best views, but the group before us that came back all looked just as happy as we did when coming back. Thanks again for a once in a lifetime experience.

As good as it gets

Excellent service and a great experience flying over recent volcanic fields. It was a great surprise to land near and walk onto one of the lava fields. Thank you Olga and Rose. Highly recommend.

From my first enquiry until the day of our trip the service from Olga and all the team at Reykjavik Helicopters was outstanding. We chose the ‘Golden Circle with a Twist’ tour and it was everything that their description promised, and more. Our pilot, Havardur, was not only a very professional flier but an excellent guide, explaining all that we were seeing as we flew over the magnificent Icelandic landscapes. The flight was smooth and the two landings, on the glacier and in the thermal area, gave us the opportunity to explore a little more ‘close up’. This was the ‘trip of a lifetime’ and Reykjavik helicopters ensured that it was just that. A truly superb and unforgettable experience!
