Wow, I can’t say enough good things about River + Root. I heard about them through my sister, who saw them on Tik Tok. D was our photographer and they were absolutely amazing! They were so helpful with posing and positioning of people, and they went above and beyond to capture the most important moments for us during our wedding. D was also just so fun to have around and made such a positive impact on our day!! We are so glad they were our photographer. Thank you!!

D Took our engagement photos and we couldn’t be more pleased with their professionalism and the pictures. D has a gift to make people feel so comfortable in front of a camera, I forgot they were even there taking pictures at times. D also knew when to step in a direct us a bit for a great shot. This is an investment you will not regret! Thank you D!

River and Root posted on their Instagram that they were in NYC and looking for a couple to do an early morning photo shoot in Manhattan. I am SO happy my girlfriend and I happened to be visiting the city that same weekend. D and Meg were so fun to be photographed by and we love how all of the pictures turned out! Would 1000% recommend them to anyone looking for couples photos.

My girlfriend and I happened to be in NYC the same weekend that they were, and they had posted on instagram that they wanted to do a free sunrise session. We decided to respond to their ask, very on a whim, and we couldn’t be happier that we did! We were so incredibly comfortable the entire session, and D and Meg were so kind and genuine throughout the experience. (And the pictures are beautiful) Would highly recommend, and will definitely be reaching out to them in the future for whatever special occasion comes next!

We absolutely loved working with River and Root! They made us feel so comfortable and the photos turned out incredible for our engagement photos and a total dream for our wedding. Not only are they incredibly kind to work with, the entire bridal party and family felt comfortable with them. They asked permission to move folks, could sense if folks needed a minute, and managed to get all the exact moments that captured the pure joy that was the wedding. My wife and I can’t recommend them enough. We can’t wait to book them for every major life event and future photos.

Wow, what an amazing experience it was working with D. and their partner Meg. I received a free session from D. as a part of a local giveaway for proposal sessions. D. was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the whole process. From the intake call where we discussed all of the details of my surprise proposal, to the lead up moments before, and of course during the big moments, they made me feel completely seen, included and heard. I loved D.’s approach to the whole process - asking about my partner and my preference for types of shots, scouting out the location and light at the time of day I wanted to propose, factoring in time after the proposal for us to have a moment alone together, the hyping up words all throughout the session. The end results of my edited photos are fabulous, some of the best pictures I’ve ever seen of myself. It felt like they captured the real “us” and love of me and my now fiance. I’m SO grateful to D for making this life changing moment that much more special. I highly recommend booking and working with them - you won’t be disappointed.

Our little family had the best experience w/River & Root! Not only did the photos turn out to be adorable, the shoot itself was really fun! D struck just the right balance between engaging our 2.5 and 4 year-olds while keeping them focused on the task at hand. We all felt really comfortable and connected, and it shows in the finished product. We'll treasure the photos for years to come!

My partner and I recently had the pleasure of working with D and Meg, and it was an absolutely exceptional experience from start to finish. D took engagement photos for my partner and I and we had the best time with them!! They were so fun, easy to work with, and did such a great job at posing and directing us. It felt so natural and the pictures are so gorgeous. They really captured our personalities and I love the variety of pictures they provided. My wife and I’s elopement was the best day of our lives, all thanks to D!! My wife and I eloped in Big Sur and it was the most magical experience. I had an idea of where and how I wanted to elope but D surpassed all of my expectations. They found the most perfect and private locations for our special moments. First they brought us to a GORGEOUS overlook of Bixby Bridge and we were surrounded by wildflowers. D made us feel so at ease and comfortable posing (which we’re typically not very good at). Through all the beautiful photos they captured, we were still able to have our moments alone and take everything in. Sometimes they were so quiet taking photos that we didn’t even realize they were right next to us!! They then led us to a secluded cliff side location over the water. It was something out of a postcard. Here is where my wife and I exchanged vows and D married us! It was the best moment of our lives, one we’ll remember forever. Afterwards we all drove to the beach and had an entire section all to ourselves to laugh, chat, dance and run into the ocean. The entire photoshoot felt so natural that it almost felt like we were all friends hanging out, which made it so easy to be ourselves. All the while that D was taking photos, they also switched to a digital camera and printed polaroids out of special moments we shared (which will all be framed because of how beautiful they are 😭). We HIGHLY recommend D to anyone who is looking for a photographer who will genuinely support you and will do everything they can to make your day/event so so special!

D and Meg were pure joy to work with on the day of our nuptials! Our primary interaction was with D and they were absolute magic capturing all our special moments. We found D to be very intuitive, easy to work with, fun, supportive, creative, kind, and just good vibes all around! We had the absolute best time with D for our engagement and wedding photos. Obviously, their photography is gorgeous, but we truly had a blast with them. It felt like we were just hanging out with an old friend. They made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and all of our wedding party also adored them. Working with D from their photography company River & Root was the best decision my wife and I ever made when considering vendors. As a queer couple they made us feel beyond ourselves throughout our engagement session and our wedding day! Their sheer talent behind the lens made our already magical wedding day a million times more magic. When we met with D they asked us what is most important to us to capture on our big day. I can’t speak highly enough about my wife and I’s experience with D at River + Root. They are a kind hearted person with an incredible eye for snapping the most stunning photos. We have now done three photoshoots with them a couples boudoir session, a FaceTime session during the early months of quarantine, and our elopement session! Every time it is a blast, D is great at getting you laughing and boosting your confidence, but they also bring a calm energy to the space. We have hired D with River + Root Photography to photograph our wedding celebration next year because there is no one we would trust more with our big day! Update to add that our wedding celebration photos turned out incredibly. We 100% made the right decision to hire them to capture such a special moment. D is amazing! I was a little worried that having a complete stranger be present for our deeply intimate and completely private elopement would be awkward, but it couldn't have been more perfect. D made us feel at ease from the first phone call. They showed up confident, prepared, professional, caring, and captured the most amazing memories for us while giving us the space to create the day we wanted.
