This is our third time at River Cafe. Our first two visits were very nice, which is why we planned to visit annually. This last visit was so horrible we will not return. They placed us at a table next to the wait staff. We had a reservation but they squeezed us in at a “floating table” as they called it. Our service made that situation intolerable. The waiter acted like he was doing us a favor and we were lucky to be there. The food is great but we left without eating desert. We returned to the St Regis where they get service. Great food, big price and be prepared to be treated poorly.

This was best dining experiences my wife and I have had, we decided to eat here for our fifth anniversary. The restaurant made the experience memorable and the atmosphere was the best I have ever experienced. The attentive service and attention to detail was incredible.

Posto incantevole e molto romantico.

The food is absolutely delicious and every course is plated to perfection. Service is magnificent and care is taken to ensure a truly wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is opulent and the views of lower Manhattan are breathtaking and spectacular.

It was a nice experience however something wasn’t cleaned properly because I got food poisoning shortly after dinner. Resulted in listeria. Careful what you choose to eat

For our 25th wedding anniversary, we celebrated at The River Cafe, and it was an unforgettable experience! The location was unbeatable, with stunning views that added a perfect touch to our special night. The food was impeccable—each dish felt like a masterpiece. The sea bass was delicate and flavorful, the lobster and wild shrimp were superb, and the pear salad was a refreshing delight. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, and I appreciated their kindness in embracing my traditional Pakistani shalwar kameez without a second thought. This is a must-visit for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!

Einmal muss man dort gewesen sein. Die Aussicht ist es wert. Der Service war sehr zügig, was ich mag. Man wählt einen Starter, Maincourse und einen Desert. Dazwischen gibt es noch Grüsse aus der Küche. Man kriegt also genug. Die Käseplatte ist sehr zu empfehlen.

My husband and I dined here recently for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We were looking forward to this for weeks, given the reputation and the location overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. The restaurant had even contacted us a few days prior asking if we were celebrating something special, so we were anticipating having a great night.
I will keep this short as there were some positives to note, specifically the servers who took our drink orders and presented our meals; they were friendly and pleasant. The food itself was good, but nothing that necessarily blew us away.
Our negative experience came from the woman wearing a black blazer. Her energy was extremely condescending and rude and just did not make us feel welcome. She initially gave a forced "Happy Anniversary" and when she came to take our order and I mentioned I was torn between the Lobster and Sea Bass, asking her for a suggestion, she gave a very sarcastic "Lobster" response; did not even take the time to walk me through the dishes. From then, the vibes just felt off. The sommelier, while knowledgeable, seemed more focused on pushing the most expensive wines by the glass rather than offering genuine recommendations that suited our preferences. The lady in the black blazer would also occasionally come around, barely making eye contact with us as she spoke to us.
Finally, given this was our 1 year wedding anniversary, to not even be offered a complimentary glass of champagne on an almost $600 bill seems ridiculous to me; why go out of your way to ask if we're celebrating something special, only to get nothing. I will also note, there were other tables celebrating anniversaries that we noticed got glasses of champagne.
This was definitely a sour experience, and we can't help but feel that we were treated this way because of our age (we were definitely one of the younger couples there), and because we were not White.
Don't waste your money here. It's NYC and there are sooooo many better options where they will actually treat you with respect.

Truly a unique and amazing experience, right on the East River waterfront. The views of Manhattan are incredible and the food is delicious.
