Great workshop and presentation It was a fantastic way to see in real life how sculptures are made! Alexandros was enthusiastic in showing us his techniques and answered our questions patiently. His wife Katerina is a talented artist in her own way. Their workshop looked interesting and we’d like to come back with our young child if we return.

Play with clay today (hooray!) We booked a class where we got to sculpt apples out of clay. Alexander taught us some of the basic techniques and lent a hand with some of the finer details. Overall we were all very happy with our finished products and had a fun experience along the way. Alexander also gave us a tour his main workspace where he was in the middle of carving a marble bust of a Greek naval captain, very neat. He has a store area with many great pieces for sale in marble and carved olive wood. We bought up some marble whiskey stones and a wooden Pan mask as gifts. If you are visiting Olympia, definitely check out Smili workshop!

Very fair prices and unique Grecian experience We asked Alexander about availability for his sculpting class that day and he said it takes about 1.5 hours and he can teach the 4 of us at any time. We booked a time for that evening and Alexander already had our stations set up for us and we drove Right into our projects! One of the members of my group had some prior experience with clay and finished the Level 1 project quickly. Alexander let her make the Level 2 project as the other 3 people in our group completed our work. Alexander was helped as little or as much as you want, so no worries if you're not artistic! He spoke clear English and was encouraging and friendly the whole time. The experience was less expensive than expected (only $60 for all 4 of us, including my friend's extra project), despite us booking privately, last minute, and taking 2.5 hours before we were satisfied with our projects. We also purchased several items from his shop. There aren't tons of different items to shop because he personally makes everything. Besides the marble creations, there are olive wood carvings and a few things made out of granite. We purchased a wood mask, a wood owl, granite whiskey stones, and a marble decoration. Alexander was extremely kind and fair, even giving us discounts for the large purchase. Alexander gave us instructions for drying the clay in our creations before getting on the plane and wrapped the art in bags with air to carry back to the hotel. Anyone with a few extra hours in Olympia needs to visit Smili!

Great experience! This was such a great experience! Alexandros was an amazing teacher. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and want to see how a real marble sculptor works or want to learn how to sculpt clay like one.

Must do in Olympia Great workshop. Alex is a great and extremely friendly artist, he thoroughly explained us what he is working on and then guided us thru a very nice practical workshop, having us craft an apple out of clay. In his lab you can see some of his outstanding works too. Recommended experience!

Marble marvel Amazing experience. Alexandros is a very nice and skilled sculptor; the experience is strongly recommended. A different, interesting and funny way to spend time in Olympia if you have already have visited the archeological site.

Must visit in Olympia This is truly a hidden gem of Olympia and definitely worth a visit! It's an amazing place with friendly people where you can create and see really nice things.

Taller para visitar He visitado el taller durante el agosto, Alexander un hombre muy simpático y amable. El taller está muy para aprender el arte del mármol y muchas otras cosas. Además ofrece una gran variedad de productos y está muy bien ubicado. Si visitas olimpia, muy recomendable visitarlo

One of the Highlights in Olympia! We had a blast with Alexandros as he was very helpful and really taught us a lot. I’m glad we visited was very a nice experience seeing a real sculpture workshop! Thank you very much!!
