I loved the Cuban pastries and got to try each of the four. Loved the assortment of sweet and savory flavors and they were all freshly made! There were no more Cuban sandwiches during the second wave which I wish I tried! I also tried the Cuban coffee with steamed milk and I wish there was an option to get it iced because it was such a hot day. Overall, the pastries were amazing and I hope to come back if I'm ever in the area!!

Love these events because no matter how much you think you know about the SF food scene, there are always so many hidden gems that Yelp events are able to bring into the spotlight. Huge thank you to the Social Cafe team for having us today. Letting us spend some time in the prep area where the magic happens was a great way to let us interact with more of your team, learn about your story, and appreciate the food. ------ FOOD: 1. Cuban Sandwich - Favorite item of the day. The cuban bread had a very satisfying toasted texture, and the ratio of bread to filling was spot on. Sandwich was flavorful and I especially appreciated how perfectly contained everything was -- this is my ideal bite. I had a cuban sandwich from another place the next day, and it couldn't even come close to this one! 2. Ham croquette - This was really good and maybe the first ham croquette I've had like this before. This ranks right up there with the cuban sandwich for me. 3. Meat pikas (chicken and beef) - The sweetness of the glaze on top was unexpected for me but I grew to like it. I think I personally would have preferred without the sweetness but I could definitely see others really liking the contrasting flavors. It would have been great if the outside pastry of this item was either slightly flakier or more robust and buttery. 4. Sweet guava pastry - Would have loved a flakier pastry and more filling on this one, possibly also with real guava slices vs just a guava jam. Still, a great sweet treat. ------ SERVICE: * The team working the front was SO sweet and greeted everyone with huge smiles * Same with the owners, loved hearing your stories and learning more about how unique this cafe is

This was definitely one of my favorite elite events yet!! The owners and staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. That guava pastry was incredible! I had never had Cuban baking before and I am soooo glad this event introduced me to it and social cafe because it's going to be a mainstay part of my life now. I also loved that coffee and altogether it was a great brunch to kick off the afternoon. It was also fun to eat in the kitchen and really see the whole restaurant, altogether this event really felt like we were being welcomed into someone's family kitchen. The big tables made it easy to talk to a bunch of other yelpers which honestly is always my favorite part of these events. Thank you to Social Cafe and Yelp for hosting!!!! Four pastries and a coffee felt really generous and I am very grateful for it. Oh, not to mention the sandwiches which are absolutely the best I have ever had in my life. The real Cuban bread DOES make a difference. The cubano is one of my all time favorite meals already and those sandwiches are the greatest cubanos of all time.

Thanks to Social Cafe, Yelp, and Dominic for this Yelp Elite event! Started off with a coffee and sampler box of goodies which we then were able to take into the back kitchen area to enjoy. The goodies were so delicious that I reluctantly saved some for my partner to try (since the event was on a day they're typically not open so I wasn't able to purchase additional ones to bring home). It took so much self-control to not gobble them all down myself haha. My favorite was the guava and cheese pastry but the meat pastry was close behind. They also brought out Cubano sandwiches (using authentic Cuban bread). Honestly might be the best cubano I've ever had. The ratio of ingredients was just right and the sandwiches were toasted perfectly. They roast their own pork too! Loved hearing the owners Terry and Ruben speak about the business. They were so warm and friendly, and you could see how passionate they are too. I'm definitely going to return in the future! So glad I was introduced to this Cuban bakery/cafe. Don't have to go all the way to Porto's haha. This spot isn't too far from me and also conveniently located by the freeway.

Really delicious pastries and coffee from the only Cuban bakery in the Bay. I personally can't speak to the authenticity but tasted good haha. It's a bit far from me but luckily they are on all the normal delivery apps and they also do catering! Great family owned business :)

Love the mom and pop shop feeling of the cafe. I am touched by the story told by the owners. The Cuban sandwich definitely stands out. I have had Cuban sandwich somewhere else before but never had a combination of ham and ground meat which definitely created a different kind of texture in mouth.

Terry and Ruben are the sweetest couple and owners of small business Social Cafe. I adore them and their family spirit, which you can really feel at their cafe. We got a pastry box with various meat pikas , a guava and cheese pastry, and something that was reminiscent of a crispy sausage bread? There were many items I haven't tried before, which is what I love about these events. I can't wait to come back!

A Sweet Taste of Cuba at The Social Cafe's Yelp Elite Event As a newcomer to SF's Yelp Elite scene, The Social Cafe event was a delightful introduction to both the community and the city's hidden culinary gems. This family-owned Cuban pastry shop, the only one of its kind in the Bay Area, opened its doors and hearts to us for an unforgettable evening. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with boxes of assorted pastries and cups of rich Cuban coffee - a perfect start to our culinary journey. The highlight of the event was the behind-the-scenes kitchen tour, offering a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship behind these Cuban delicacies. Among the array of pastries, the chicken pika stood out as an absolute star. Its perfect balance of flavors and textures left me craving more and planning my next visit. What truly sets The Social Cafe apart is the palpable passion of its family owners. Their warmth and dedication to preserving authentic Cuban flavors in San Francisco is both admirable and delicious. This Yelp Elite event not only satisfied my taste buds but also fulfilled my hopes of connecting with fellow food enthusiasts in a unique setting. The Social Cafe's commitment to quality and community makes it a must-visit spot for anyone seeking a taste of Cuba in the Bay Area. Whether you're a pastry aficionado or simply in search of a welcoming cafe with a unique offering, The Social Cafe delivers on all fronts. I'll definitely be back for more of that chicken pika pastry!

Everything here was absolutely delicious! For all the pastries there was a right amount of filing to pastry ratio, where one didn't take over the other. It was perfect. The mango and cheese pastry was to die for, and really tasted fresh and the mango flavor came through really well. The guava and cheese was also excellent, and it was definitely a unique flavor that I was a big fan of. I think my ultimate favorite though was the spinach and cheese pastry. The flakey sea salt on top took it to the next level, and there was no skimping on the spinach and cheese--which I loved. I don't think I've had a spinach and cheese pastry stuffed that much before, it was amazing. Lastly I tried the Cuban coffee with the double espresso. It was some of the best coffee I've ever had. I could not believe how tasty and flavorful it was. Additionally, everyone there was so incredibly kind, felt so welcome to be there. Can't wait to come back!

Really fun event with some really fun Yelpers! Never been in a kitchen like that before and was enjoying the atmosphere, and of course, the food! I felt like I was in the Bear but with less anxiety and more Cuban sandwiches! The food was really great and it's always a blast to hear more about the inspiration behind the concept and where things are going with a well-run, loving, and ambitious family at the helm. Dominic B was right: this place and this business rule!

Had an amazing time at Social Cafe for this Yelp Event! And thanks to this event, now I know that there is a Cuban bakery in the bay area! Everything was so good. The cuban sandwiches and pastries were amazing. I got the cortadito which consists of 2 shots of cuban espresso, sugar, and milk. Luckily I was also able to have it with oat milk. Porto's is a well known Cuban bakery in socal so it's great that there's somewhere I can stop by for cuban pastries without having to go to LA. As Ruben mentioned, the pork and bread for the cubanos are all made fresh in house. The bread was perfectly toasted. I'll definitely be recommending this place to my friends!

I don't usually come to this part of the city but the truck was worth it. We got a box of pastries and mingled in their kitchen. It was great hearing their stories and hopefully more people come and support this Cuban bakery! They do cater.

What an incredible event. I love Cuban pastries but hadn't had any for a LONG time given the serious shortage of Cuban spots in the bay! I almost never come to this neighborhood, so little did I know that some of the best Cuban pastries I would eat are in my own backyard!! So grateful for yelp for exposing me to this GEM of a restaurant, started by a couple that is passionate about sharing their food and love for their cuisine with the neighborhood. All of the pastries they had were so delicious. There was a beef and chicken pastry, a meat croquette, and of course, the infamous guava pastry. They also brought around Cubano's that were mind blowing. Everything was so good, and I had to hold myself back from devouring everything in one bite. The coffee was also incredible and not to mention strong. I think my favorite part of the event was meeting the owners, and realizing how much love they pour into their food. And I can't wait to come back and try some more of their pastries. Thank you so much yelp for an incredible event.

Overall delicious food and such a great event. The owners have a great backstory, and I was surprised to hear that they are the only Cuban bakery in the Bay Area! This was hands down the best Cubano I've ever had - meaty with delicious bread. The guava cheese pastry didn't stand out for me, but all pastries had a homemade quality that I enjoyed. The coffee was strong and an excellent complement to the flaky pastries. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Elites were generously provided a variety box of freshly made pastries, a sample of a Cuban sandwich and a made to order Cuban espresso (or cortadito.). I got to meet the amazing owners Terry & Ruben and their incredible staff. I also got to chat with yay area yelpers and received some cute Yelp favors. I'm not an expert on Cuban food but I've eaten enough throughout my lifetime to know that the quality of their bakes are top tier. Flavors of the meat filling were savory & complex, the pastry layers were flaky & light, and my espresso was dark & smooth! I tend to not order Cubano sandwiches since I find them salty but their version was so delicious and very hearty. And it's my first time eating one made with authentic Cuban bread. I'm beyond appreciative to CM Dominic, intern Taylor, SF Yelp and the owners of Social Cafe for allowing me to consume the most amazing pastelitos and Cubanos I've ever had!

omg what an awesome event! the owners Terry and Ruben are super nice and the girls in the front ( sorrority sisters ) are very welcoming. very generous of our hosts to give out a box of 4 yummy pastries and a small Cuban coffee ( 2 shots of espresso and RAW sugar with or without steamed milk ). Cuban sandwiches were also served and they are packed with ham and pulled pork. I actually didn't know this was a mingling event so I showed up towards the end. Oops. But I was still able to join for a light chat and in time for the intros at the end. thank you so much for organizing and def looking forward to the next event.
