My husband and I recently got married at SunCliff, and it was an absolutely beautiful venue for our ceremony! The smaller ballroom was the perfect size for our ceremony and dinner since we only had 10 guests. There are various spots inside and outside the mansion that look fantastic for photographs. The food was wonderful, and the suites that we stayed in overnight were huge and had lovely decorations. We also got to enjoy a bonfire by the lake after our dinner and fun lawn games the next morning before we left. Brenda and Dave were both very friendly and accommodating with how we wanted our day to look. They have definitely done an amazing job with restoring the mansion. The one area that could be improved is communication. Brenda responded to our questions via email in a timely manner, which was appreciated; however, sometimes not all our questions were answered, so then we had to reach out again with the same questions. Another small issue that arose was that one of the waitresses (not sure who) was a bit snippy with us when we inquired about missing side salads that were supposed to accompany some of our entrees. Overall, though, we had a very positive experience with SunCliff and would highly recommend it to people who either live in the area or who want to do a destination wedding on Lake Erie. Everything turned out wonderfully for our special day!
SunCliff on the Lake was the first venue I looked into after getting engaged in May 2023. We only looked at one other venue, which I won't name because I'm not a picky person, but the place was very.... Robotic. SunCliff was not on any of the wedding websites and I could barely find anything online. Since May of 2023, I had been in constant contact with Brenda, one of the owners. She was very helpful, personable, not fake, hyper, but never once did I have a worry about booking the venue and she answered all of my questions in a timely manner and let us come visit the venue whenever we had concerns. She was a joy to talk to and work with the past 2 years.
They also hired a wedding coordinator, Yvonne, that absolutely made our wedding so beautiful. She is absolutely a great day of coordinator, so if you think you want to book Suncliff, you don't need one other than her. During the rehearsal she was very blunt and precise, as she was on the wedding day. She made sure everyone was in check, where they needed to be and made it snappy. Day of, she was there and ready to wrangle up anything that needed to be done. I thought I would have to set everything up but all we had to do was bring the decor, etc. the day before. When I got there at 11am, they had everything set up and it all exceeded anything I'd ever expected. We also rented the upstairs Inn for our wedding party. There are a few suites with bathrooms and rooms with shared bathrooms but it fit our entire wedding party with room to spare and everyone loved it. They also have a giant fire pit that they bring alcohol to when the wedding is over, which was awesome. Everything Suncliff put together was perfect, I couldn't ask for a better venue and experience. Our guests had so much fun, the food was amazing and the property is to die for. We took all of our pictures there because there's so much inside and outside that make for perfect pictures. Suncliff is a diamond in the rough and I think maybe they had some hiccups in the beginning from the few reviews I had read, but we had an amazing experience from start to finish. Don't overlook this venue!
Out door event class reunion. Wife ask what kind of wine, she says white or red. Seriously, charged 5 bucks for water down alcohol or a beer or glass of wine. Appetizers stuff mushrooms great. Meatballs in can gravy discusting. Food line starts two sides serving utensils only i hmm what good is having two sides no napkins the food was terrible. Boxed mashed potatoes unbelievable. Tent was second-rate, one fan and bugs everywhere. Sorry had high hopes
After reviewing available dates I booked a reservation through Airbnb and received reservation confirmation. Several weeks later, to my surprise and with no explanation I was notified reservation is cancelled and offered alternative places to stay 25-30 miles farther away. No thanks. Would not consider booking this location again, and no one cares enough anymore to try and make things right.
Beautiful building and fantastic view of the lake. We made reservations but left after a 1/2 hour because nobody came to take our drink order and they weren't even busy. The pop country music seemed inappropriate for the setting too.
We were looking for a perfect little evening getaway and this place was just the ticket! It's a beautiful setting. Nice breeze off the lake. Amazing architecture. And the family operated staff is very helpful and friendly! We'll be back!
