Clam chowder was good. The seafood linguine was also good and the seafood was fresh. The mushroom burger was nothing special with a fairly dry bun and dry beef patty.

Thank you for providing your feedback regarding your recent dining experience. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the clam chowder and seafood linguine, as well as the freshness of our seafood.
However, we regret to learn that the mushroom burger did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments regarding the bun and patty, and we will certainly take this feedback into consideration as we strive to enhance our menu offerings.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future to explore more of our culinary offerings.

an absolute storybook come true. If you love taking aesthetic photos for Instagram, I would absolutely come to this restaurant. It looks like a Pinterest board come to life as well. The service is amazing. My waiter always was filling my water and checking if I was OK, I loved the decor. There was a car outside the restaurant and it was so cool, the fries are amazing and the plating is just perfect. Definitely coming again for my next special occasion. I have yet to come in when they had live music but I can’t wait when I do.

Story Café in Richmond is a hidden gem for anyone craving delicious, comforting food.
The café offers a wide selection of freshly made dishes, from hearty brunch options to delightful desserts. The quality of the food is good, with bold and restrained flavors and attention to detail.
The atmosphere is a bit frenzied as they squeeze a lot of people into a small space. The patio area is open to pets and that can be a circus of its own.
Have patience if you go for brunch as the spot is quite busy and the front staff was slow to respond and tables were not cleared expeditiously during their busy morning. It was a bit frustrating.
Once sat, the food and attentive servers make up for the chaos.
Cheers!

My brother absolutely loves this restaurant and we tried to book in our family - a group of 8 for dinner. Unfortunately, the OpenTable online reservation booking system does not allow you to book a table indoors when you have a large group. I think having larger groups book by calling in is actually pretty standard, so no harm, no foul. We booked the table online anyways hoping to speak to someone at the Story about it. Unfortunately - however - despite multiple calls, over multiple days by different members of our family it appeared no one would pick up the phone at this establishment.
This is my brother’s favourite restaurant, so it escalated to the point where my brother-in-law drove to the restaurant and attempted to speak with the hostess about moving our group indoors. He was told (fairly) that the reservation could only be modified by the person made under (myself). I got a call later that afternoon by the hostess asking if we wished to be moved to indoor seating. It’s early December. It’s gets dark at 5pm and it’s going to be less than 5 degrees Celsius outside. Yes. We would love to have a hot meal indoors for my brothers birthday. I was then asked if I was familiar with their policies…that they were stated on the website. I jokingly asked the hostess to refresh me on their policies. She then tells me that there’s a 75$ minimum spend PER PERSON to be seated indoors for a group of 8, and an auto-gratuity of 18% added to the bill - as if it’s some kind of privilege to be seated indoors. One of my party is a kid and I later read on their website that anyone over 4yo has to make 75$ minimum.
My goodness…I’ve been to some really nice restaurants downtown Vancouver that don’t have such self-indulgent policies. Places that probably pay higher rent, and are able to answer a phone after 3 rings. @Story Cafe: your restaurant, so you make the rules, but as a potential customer, this left a bad taste in my mouth. In the end, we decided against keeping our reservation.
Dear Christina,
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with our reservation system and policies. We sincerely so for the frustration you encountered while trying to secure indoor seating for your brother’s birthday celebration. We understand how important such occasions are and regret that our communication did not meet your expectations.
We appreciate you bringing your concerns about the minimum spend and auto gratuity to our attention. We strive to create a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience for all our guests, and your insight will help us reassess our policies and improve our service.
We hope you might consider giving us a chance in the future. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish your brother a wonderful birthday celebration.

Loved the story and the concept and TRULY want this place to succeed! Positives were the staff was prompt and courteous if not a bit robotic and the seasonal dessert was excellent! The linguine vonvgole was liquid. Not creamy in the slightest and the portion was tiny for that price for pasta. Total miss. The organic salad meal size was basically 95% lettuce…3 strawberries and a few other veggie scraps. Fail. The carbonara was reasonable and the grilled asparagus was OK. The musical performer, however, was worse than karaoke night with your office after everyone got drunk at the holiday party. Honestly. Way too loud for a meal…we came to eat, not see the one man band…he was a terrible singer and actually did an electric guitar solo at one point in his truly bizarre set list. This was excellent for our Nana to enjoy. It reminded her of seeing Whitesnake in her youth (for real). We dine out a lot. We liked the vibe before the “ performer” (honestly…it was Monday night…) but will save our cash and skip this place till they figure out the food…unless we just stop by for dessert…and, well, Whitesnake!
Dear Darren,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are thrilled to hear that you love the concept of our restaurant and appreciated the prompt and courteous service from our staff, as well as the seasonal dessert!
However, it is saddened me to learn that some aspect of your meal did not meet your expectations. Your feedback about the linguine vongole, salad and carbonara are invaluable to our culinary team, and we will certainly take them into consideration as we strive to improve our food.
We also appreciate your thoughts on the musical performance. While we aim to create a lively atmosphere, we understand that the volume and style may not be suitable for everyone, especially during dining experience. We will take your feedback into account when planning future entertainment.
We genuinely value your input and hope that you might consider giving us another chance down the line. Whether it is for dessert or a trip down memory lane with our music entertainment, we’d love to welcome you back!

Pleasant atmosphere, good food, highly recommend the place. you have pay parking upfront or 2 h street parking around
the place isn't huge, so you might have to wait to be seated.
my food was very nicely done, perfectly cooked and served at the right temperature
