Reminder, you are always free to walk out of a dentist office partially through an appointment. I had to ask 4 times what the cost of x-rays to actually get an answer, and on the fourth time I walked out of the room. Insurance came up 14 times, what I was actually there for came up once in a disinterested fashion. I am not interested in a dentist looking to maximize how much they can bill my insurance company, I am looking for treatment, everything about how I was treated shows the former not the latter.

The only dentist I will ever see until the day he retires is Dr. Erik Unkenholtz. I first met him close to 5 years ago when he pulled an abscess tooth when I was 8 months pregnant. My teeth were an absolute wreck from neglect and I had such severe anxiety with dentists. He put me at ease and his staff are the best you can find anywhere- comforting and gentle and very sympathetic. Since then I have had cleanings, fillings, crowns, a bridge and 4 implants done- my smiletransformed slowly after the years; I cry because I love it now not because I am embarrassed. If you are looking for a dentist to put you at ease and not to shame you but lead you in the right direction of what steps need to be taken please go see Dr. Erik. The best worst experience you will ever have!

Always so friendly and professional. The only dentists I’ll let work on my teeth. I’ve had some dentists do horrible work on my crowns. Unkenholtz fixed the problem and has been our dentist for 4 years.

I am so scared of going to the dentist it’s embarrassing, but I am so glad I found this dental office. Dr. Mike and Beth were just excellent and provided outstanding care. The front desk staff were exceptional. Everyone was patient, kind and professional. Highly recommended!

This was my second "emergency" visit to Unkenholz Family Dental. Both times, the staff juggled the schedule to get me in quickly. Dr. Andes and staff were great! With me being a visitor to South Dakota, he was able to fix both issues until I could return home for further treatment. I highly recommend them!

The team at Unkenholz are amazing!! They worked with us through a difficult situation, communicating with other specialists and have been kind and compassionate through the whole process! Couldn’t ask for better care for my son!! 🥰

Absolutely love going here! They are amazing normally I see Dr Erick but now I see Dr Anthony and they are both amazing. No complaints here the staff is always pleasant and full of energy they treat you like family. Will always go here and so will my family.

Great fast service, with a smile.

Tumultuous experience! I was scheduled for a routine cleaning and instead was given an hour and a half exam. Then told that I needed to schedule the cleaning for a later date because they were out of time. To make matters worse, they didn't even offer a standard cleaning that my dental insurance would cover 100%. They instead only offered some other service that my insurance would only cover 50% and the remainder would have to come out of pocket. What a scam. No thank you. I will never return to this dentist.

Wow! What a wonderful experience today! Dr Anthony and Assistant Kai took very good care of me! I have a huge fear of dentists and I will personally say that they will make you as comfortable as they can and WILL NOT. proceed with any services until you are comfortable and pain free! I am honored to know of the Unkenholz family as we were all from Pierre! I will be sending my friends and also my family! Thank you again to Dr Eric for having concern and telling me to come in today, Carol at check in, Dr Anthony and Assistant Kai for the amazing care that I received today! You guys are top notch!

Such a clean and friendly environment!! I definitely have a fear of going to the dentist, but everyone there made the whole experience super easy and so NOT scary!!!
