Be very careful moving forward with AAG, especially if you have a manufactured mobile home. Despite the property having no mortgage on it and being free and clear, the AAG representatives were not able to help satisfy the title requirement or provide a path forward to help with this. To make the situation worse, the representatives that we were dealing with kept changing their story, making incorrect assumptions about interactions and then ghosted and ignored us for over a week, including a manager. Outside of the frustration dealing with the title issue, there was the additional frustration of dealing with the incompetent associates. The main sales person that we were dealing with did not listen to the information that was provided and did not pass that on to others such as the processor. She was combative and took asking questions as being a personal attack on her. They refused to do a three way call with the title company to resolve the issue and just kept telling us to do something that is actually illegal for us to do in our state. Be prepared for delays in the process on their end for no reason other than them being unresponsive and not preparing for next steps. Be prepared for them to not explain the process or next steps, or really even what they are waiting on. Overall I would not recommend using AAG. The entire process was frustrating and ended up being a dead end since they couldn’t figure out how to resolve a title issue within the confines of what is allowed by the law.

Beware of AAG!!! Curtis ** was our representative, very unprofessional, lies and does what is best for him NOT YOU!!! AAG lied about funds we never received and his manager Mark is no better to help resolve this matter!!! I was told by Curtis ** that we would receive 84K which never happened? Curtis ** told us AAG would take care of our property taxes and property insurance!!! It was also a lie!!! All he did was take the 84K he promised us from the new loan and put it into the new loan which of course raised our loan amount owed!!! I told him I wanted to stay with my fixed rate on the new loan and Curtis started pushing very hard for the adjustable rate??? He still wound up putting the loan under an adjustable why??? Curtis lies and makes a lot of false promises to get you to sign the loan and then he is done with you!!! When I called him about this matter and asked why were we not receiving the 84K and put the loan in a adjustable, HIS RESPONSE WAS SORRY BUD!!! Very unprofessional!!! That is all Curtis had to say? Curtis was done and on to the next victim!!! Curtis and AAG SCAMMED US!!! I did call back and spoke with his manager Mark and that was just as bad as Curtis was. He lied and tried to smooth talk everything Curtis did! He stated AAG had to put 6K into the loan to make it work? MORE LIES!!! He quickly changed the subject about the 84K and made a statement that he would call us in a year and a half when interest rates are better? Never once tried to offer any type of help to correct the lies Curtis Culpepper told us!!! I never heard back from Mark??? With the way AAG scammed us it does not surprise me! AAG has left me and my wife in a very bad spot and AAG does not care about you or your loan! They are very sneaky and their promises are lies!!! I would recommend you to find a better reverse mortgage company!!!
I completed all of the repairs required to receive the balance of my loan. Today I called to schedule an inspection. Now they want me to call the flooring company installers back out to complete a repair affidavit and lien waiver. The installers? Seriously? They could have told me that this would have to be done beforehand so that I could have the installers sign this paper while they were here. Ridiculous!! They think the installers have the time to "stop by" my house to do this? although I don't expect to have to borrow money to do repairs on my home again, If I do this will not be the company I will deal with. Incompetent!
I am eligible for a reverse mortgage and I found AAG and spoke with *******************. I was warned to be careful as to which company to choose, but I heard him out completely. To sum it up, I truly felt as if I was being spoken to as if I had no brains and figures were slung at me without explanation. What stood out was that ************ proceeded to tell me that appraisals in my state were very costly and I would have to pay $570 to get an appraisal; TOTAL LIE!! I also asked to have my options explained and one thing was that my credit rating wasn't very good so he would do what he could with that issue. My credit rating is close to 800 which I discovered by going on ****** and typing in free annual credit reports. I HAVE NO DEBTS; just living expenses. This was a major disappointment to be sure. I highly recommend you don't deal with AAG or Finance of America as he so proudly proclaimed. ****************
I think this is the worse company ever. Don't deal with these people. They have been an absolute nightmare to me. Terrible company that did me horrible.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY _ THEY DON'T PAY THEIR BILLS!! WAITING OVER 90 DAYS NOW AND COUNTING ! MAKE SURE TO GET PAID UP IF YOU'RE A VENDOR OR CONTRACTOR,
I told the AAG rep I spoke to that I do not have a computer or a printer, so what I wanted are paper copies of things. He's been very good about sending those. However, over Christmas, it was hard to get things back and forth because of the holidays. But now, I'm on the second phase. I'm waiting for an envelope. Today they already did the assessment. He was very professional and looked all around. I told him the improvements. I asked him what entailed next, because I was wondering what the next steps are. He said he would file it by the end of the week. I wanted a paper copy and he got me a paper copy in the mail. It's moving along. The counselor was also professional.
AAG's reps have been very helpful, knowledgeable and really forthcoming with the answers. My loan officer bends over backwards to help me understand everything and do what I need to do. I started on 27th of February and everything so far is moving along.
The rep I worked with was very helpful. The process has also been very easy. I would recommend AAG.
My experience with AAG has been nothing short of excellent. I'm perfectly happy with how things are going.
John, the young man in New York, was very bluntly honest because he knew the bad taste in my mouth from a Wells Fargo experience. AAG is good. Had they not, I would have hung up a long time ago.
The representative that I spoke with was extremely knowledgeable. She educated me and helped me understand the process.
Everything went well, and I'm done with the process. American Advisors Group was proactive and did a good job. If you're gonna do a reverse mortgage, you have to understand you're investing money so that you solidify, in my case, a line of credit for when you're old. I paid money because I wanted to have the safety net of a line of credit in the future in case anything went bad.
Personable, professional interactions with prompt, accurate answers to questions made the whole experience pleasant. For us, dealing with a professed Christian eased any anxiety we had. Thank you for a great experience.
While the process took almost 60-days to complete from start-to-end, I was able to achieve my goal of eliminating my monthly mortgage P&I payments using an AAG Reverse Mortgage. Overall this was a very satisfactory result.
AAG was upfront and very thorough. I gave them some information, they checked it out, and things went like clockwork. The lady I talked with was Eileen. She seemed to be very knowledgeable of the product and the process. She's in California and I'm in North Carolina, but she got back to me very quickly. She was very helpful in helping me make sure I gave them the right information. They sent me some information thru email then put something in the mail that got to me quickly. They made sure I understood how the reverse mortgage was and if it was right for us. I had done a small refi on my house in April of last year. I took out $26,000. As we went towards the end, they had never asked me about if I refinanced it when they found it out. According to the guidelines, you have to wait at least a year. We're at the point where we're on hold. They've got all the information and I'm approved. We're scheduled to proceed and have a closing date of April 15th.
The first time that we used AAG for a reverse mortgage was also for my uncle on his other home. He did the market research himself and selected AAG and then asked me to start the paperwork process. The paperwork with AAG is much more extensive than any other mortgage. But there's a lot of information. I like that they use DocuSign because that helps the process go faster. Locating all the required documents took a long time. Nowadays, a lot of people don't get all these documents in the mail every month like we used to. You have to log into an account and access a bank statement or a mortgage statement. That was a challenge with my uncle because he was not on the computer due to his disability. Also, he wasn't getting things by paper in the mail. Tiegs has been our contact. The very first thing she did was explain the benefits. We had already done it once before, so we knew what we needed it for and the benefits of using it. So she didn't need to sell it to me, but she did. She gave me a good list to go by, which was great, because since it was in the email, I could share it with other people in my family that could help me. Then she explained very well a couple of things I had questions about. Any time I've called her, she called me back or if I emailed her, she emailed me back, but the time difference has been a little bit of a challenge. I'm in Florida and she is somewhere on the West Coast. There's a three-hour time difference. When I am at my computer where I can find the things that she needs or look at her list or any of the information, she's not even out of bed yet. Like yesterday, she called me in what would be her normal business hours, I was home eating dinner and didn't have any of my paperwork with me because I was keeping it in the office where my computer is. We're in our third week of trying to gather the documents. I submitted them and AAG ordered the appraisal immediately. Then the application had to be signed again. She sent it to me yesterday after I was already gone from the office. So, I'll be doing that this morning. But it came up with a signature that wasn't in the sequence that they needed it to be, so I'll have to re-sign everything. But the time that the process has taken isn't AAG's problem, it has been on our end. Overall, it's been a thorough and good experience.
The rep I work with at AAG is wonderful. He's got a good personality and he's really relaxed and not all business. I like him. We're waiting on closing and we can't do it until the end of March because my husband doesn't turn 62 until March 29th.
Working with the agent was very good and I was impressed with the agent. He was very accommodating and he spoke very clearly. We're elderly and we need a lot of patience from people. He made sure we understood what he was telling us. AAG has been wonderful. They moved things along and it was amazing that the process has gone as smoothly as it has. We accomplished what we wanted and they met our goals. I'm very impressed with the company.
I'm doing the paperwork right now and it's really stressful. They shouldn't have that much paperwork. But I was impressed with the answer that they gave me and they explained everything to me. So far, everything has been all right. But they could change the part where you need to pay out something before you get the loan
