Would not come here for MealPal if you are in a rush. The food is not ready and is cooked on order (based on wait times). I waited for over 20 minutes. They had a backlog of 5+ mealpal orders. When I opened up my food, the portion size was small. Food tastes good though!

excellent service from benares, compliments to the staff and chef. a very cozy restaurant for either a quick work lunch or dinner moment if you find yourself in the area. chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, onion kulcha all solid and the lychee martini big!

Ordered veg biriani .. got chicken biriani.. Useless waste of money and food

Complete mismanagement.. they labeled bag correctly but messed up the content. Gave non veg to veg people

This place sucks! Me and my family came to visit NYC and were hungry after touring the city. Found this Indian restaurant and decided to dine in for lunch. When we first entered the restaurant, it smelled like a used bathroom. I’m not sure if they were having plumbing issues but there was an underlying smell that immediately put us off. Since we were so hungry we decided to stay and order. The waiter we had let us know that the lunch menu had to be ordered by every individual and we couldn’t share. This may sound a bit entitled but I believe once I order the food, it’s mine and I can decide who to share it with. Since the portions were big enough for two people to share, it annoyed me that we weren’t allowed to just order one dish for each duo and share amongst each other. We instead were referred to a different menu if we wanted to share. The waiter was very unclear and in a way, I felt like we were scammed into ordering more food than we needed to. The food was bland, no flavor, and that smell from earlier was still lingering for anyone at our table to enjoy. Despite being so hungry, we still did not enjoy a single dish from this place. All of mediocre food and service but still they priced it so high. I honestly recommend people to avoid this restaurant and just grab a slice of pizza instead. Very disappointing!

I wanted to get their lunch special but I couldn’t order online bc its not available across their 20 food delivery apps. But its on their site, so I came in to order and was ignored for 10 mins so I left. If you don’t offer the lunch special, take it off your site or let people order it online or don’t ignore people who come in bc of your bad site experience!

We wanted to come to Benares for some time, and finally, we did. We were greeted once we came in and admired the different Indian statues and decorations. We were seated quickly, and the classical and modern Bollywood music filled the background but was not loud and a perfect volume to conversate with guests. We were served by Benares, who was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions about the menu. They also modified one of the dishes as we wanted without any trouble. They even checked on us often and spoke with us for a few minutes. They even gave us Indian sweets for a religious holiday. We enjoyed our time here, and the bill was decent. We will come back and try other dishes they have to order (which is a vast menu, so there are many options (vegetarian and non-vegetarian)).

Bad experience food very late they said kitchen was busy but very few people were in restaurant .. IT's ok changed review to 3 starts, thank you for responding

All our favorite Indian restaurants closed in the Village due to rent hikes. We needed to find a new place. Benares has become that place. Service is as it should be for a Tribeca restaurant. The atmosphere is fabulously and the food is fantastic.

It was very delicious. We followed the recommendations of our great waiter Tere Naam and that was the best decision. He gave us so many good informations about the dishes. We had the lamb chop and chicken and it was perfectly cooked.

As a frequent Indian restaurant visitor this was by far the best food for a long time. Delicious vegetable curry.

My boyfriend and I spontaneously stopped in today around lunch time and we were so happy that we did! From the moment we stepped inside the service was A+. We had the pleasure of having Tere Naam serve us and we couldn’t say enough great things. The food was incredible and very fresh. The pricing was great as we got three meals but the price barely reflected such. We definitely will be coming back. 10/10 I recommend.

Amazing food. Harish ji was kind enough to keep restaurant open late and serve me a vegetarian delicacy with loads of “mithaas”… looking forward to come again

This honestly has been my go to place this entire year. Everytime I go, everyone is so nice and the food is always amazing. The service is great, everyone cares about you and makes sure you have a great experience. You should try their saag paneer and Paneer tikka. Also checkout their lunch special, it’s the most bang for your buck!

Wow! This is a restaurant not to miss. From the amazing food to the server Harish C., our experience was amazing start to finish. Service was wonderful and Harish our server even put a candle on the rasmala for desert and sang happy birthday with me for my sisters birthday. Such a fun and special touch! Food wise. Appetizers (pakoras and samosas) were so good and fresh! Chicken tikka masala with lemon rice was fragrant and hit the spot along with a beautiful light and airy poori! Comfortable and homey neighborhood vibe. Clean and you could hear yourself talk. We had a fabulous experience and can’t wait to be back. If you want unpretentious, delicious Indian food with warm service and a cozy atmosphere… this is for you. Thank you for making our night special, Harish! - Barb and Deborah
