The Icing and the red velvet cake was moist and tastiest, the chocolate cake was worth getting another slice during a later visit.

The server, Allen S., was extremely rude, condescending, and unprofessional. My family has been ordering from this bakery for years and we've never had an experience like the one we had today. It was truly disappointing. We do not anticipate placing any future orders, either in the near or distant future.

Best 6 layer rainbow birthday cake, I’ve ever had! Looked beautiful and tasted so good. Not too sweet! A huge hit for both the kids and the adults. The staff were friendly. Thanks Betty Bakery. Will definitely order again in the future.

What an absolute disaster. Avoid at all cost. I'd leave no stars if Google would allow me. This establishment has just gone down hill over the last few years. I had ordered custom cakes here and the quality just got worse and worse as the price has just gone up and up. The neurotic emails from the owner trying to ask you to constantly "up" your budget to the lack of basic detail of their cakes is sad. You're essentially getting "off the rack" product as the cakes have gotten drier over the years and very little basic service for your order. When I asked why they hadn't written happy birthday on a birthday cake I had ordered, I was shown legal paper work that I signed essentially saying, sorry buddy, it's a done deal. A simple apology would have been enough. Go to Buttermilk Bake shop, lady bird bakery or many others around Brooklyn where you get, service, a good product, and a normal transaction. Betty Bakery is a disaster. They've given up a long time ago. Avoid, avoid avoid.

You have not ordered a cake from us in 2 years. The last time you ordered a cake your wife posted a bad review, which we responded to at the time. I've copied our response here for clarity. I can only surmise that you are friends with the last person to write a review and just jumping on the band wagon to attack us again.

We are sorry you were not satisfied w/ your order. That is never our intent. We do our best to satisfy every customer. But, we take umbrage at your characterization of what occurred.
1.Our prices have not doubled. Previous cakes you ordered were 8” cakes with a simple design. Those cakes averaged $190. You asked for a detailed 10” cake, which is 50% larger than an 8” cake (by volume), yet we charged you $300 (50% more) for a larger, decorated cake, while the cost of everything we use has gone up by 50% - 100%
2.We make custom cakes based on what customers want. Not everyone wants an inscription on their cake or wants it to say the same thing, so we make no assumptions. Case in point - the 2 previous cakes you ordered from us did not have inscriptions on them. Your invoice from 5/30/21 specifically says “No inscription”.
3.We deal with 100’s of emails per day and, sometimes, things get missed. We’re human. That's why we send out this notice:

This invoice constitutes your whole order. If something is NOT on the invoice, there is no guarantee it will be on your cake, so please make sure every detail you asked for is listed - this includes, but is not limited to special writing, requests, sprinkles (or no sprinkles), flavors, colors, cake size and delivery date. If you notice something missing or otherwise not correct, please let us know ASAP so we can rectify the issue.
It is much easier to fix a problem before it happens.
Once you have gone over the invoice, you can then pay online.

You didn't review the invoice to verify all your requests were there prior to finalizing payment. You looked at the invoice 3 times before you paid for it, but never mentioned the inscription
4.We didn't critique your budget. You sent images of cakes that were detailed and expensive. We responded with:

Roblox cakes tend to be quite detailed like the cakes you sent over. Each of those cakes would be over $500 due to the fondant and detail work.
Something we came up with that fits within your budget is as follows: If you're able to increase the budget, we could look at incorporating details from some of the other cakes you sent.

Unlike other shops, we understand not everyone can or wants to spend 100’s of $ on a custom cake, so we work with our customers to create designs that fit their budgets and still gets them something special. That’s exactly what we did here.
5. We didn’t mention a contract, we apologized and simply mentioned the email we sent where we request a final review before finalizing payment. This is done to protect you and us from misunderstandings exactly like this.
While we once again apologize for missing the request for an inscription, you share the responsibility here. Had you pointed out the omission prior to finalizing the invoice and we then failed to write the inscription, you would have a valid reason for being upset, but that’s not what happened. Instead, you want us to shoulder all the blame while you ignored and fail to mention your own culpability in the issue and did so in a public forum that can do us harm. That is simply not fair.
I am happy to share any and all correspondence should future customers care to see. We take pride in our work and working with customers to get them a special cake that fits their budget.

I contacted this bakery for a custom cake, but they were unable to accommodate my request. While their initial response was polite and timely, I was disappointed that a professional bakery couldn't fulfill a relatively simple custom order and then took a long time to follow up. If you're looking for something standard from their menu, they might be a good choice, but if you need anything custom, you might want to look elsewhere.
With all due respect, this review is out of line.
You wrote and asked if we could make a very specific cake that included ingredients and techniques that we don't use. Rather than not respond at all, we sent you a note 20 minutes after you sent your request stating "I'm sorry, but this isn't a cake we'd be able to make for you."
While it's not our responsibility to let you know why we said no, had you given us more than 10 minutes, we could have gotten back to you with a detailed explanation after we were done dealing with the rest of our customers for the day. That's just the way we roll. The fact that you couldn't even wait 10 minutes is beyond the pale.
We do custom cakes all the time. We've developed specific flavors for customers, we've made cakes and used techniques that nobody else in the city will do. If it's something we think we can pull off, we do our best to accommodate. If we can't, we politely say no. The cake you wanted did not fit those boundaries, so we nicely told you we couldn't do it.
Instead of looking elsewhere, or waiting for us to respond, you appear to have jumped onto Google minutes after we responded to give us a bad review without consideration of what said review does to our business or take into consideration that it is our prerogative to say no. Good luck finding someone to make your cake.
