Ramiro and his team have been awesome to deal with. We purchased a car 2 weeks ago and Ramiro made the process seamless and easy from start to finish. Fast forward to present, we had a minor issue with the car and Ramiro was quick to get the car in, diagnose the problem, and on top of that fix it at no cost to us! Great customer service seems to be hard to come by these days but Ramiro has gone above and beyond.

Ive been shopping for months to find the best car for my soon to be 16 year old . I knew I wanted to give her a Jetta the same car I had as a young kid , safe and reliable . Ramiro also made me feel confident in my choice . I also wanted to buy from a trusted place . Not all car dealerships are transparent . Purchased a 1998 VW Beetle that we drove from out of state to see. After our test drive, we returned to the lot with a few concerns, most notably the heat. We were assured by Ramero himself that he had driven the car to his home and back on three different occasions, and that it ran very well. I expressed concern that the heat wasn't really working well... But he assured us that it would work well after the car reached "driving temp" and got going. and the car got moving. He then stated that the car was in very good condition for it's age, that the engine and transmission had very low mileage and that the car's value was in that, as it showed that it had been taken care of. We trusted him, as he was very easy to talk to and he kept reassuring us that the car was without any big issues. My husband has tinkered in car mechanics before, and so when Ramero reassured us, he quelled every concern I had after our test drive.
Fast forward to us leaving the lot: We left, and about 10 miles up the road, the transmission wasn't shifting properly from 1st to 4th gear (10mph-40mph), but I figured it was just my nerves, and my reluctance to go the speed limit on roads I didn't know well. I pulled over and expressed my concerns to my husband, but the car was sold to us "AS IS", so we decided to try and make it back home to avoid an astronomical tow bill. I made the 150 mile trip on that warm sunny day without any incident on the interstate, so I figured that the car just had some quirks due to it's age.
Over the past 3 weeks of having the car, it has been running hot, has a lot of "stuff" flying out of the defrost vents, is having the same shifting issues at low speeds, the stereo shorted out, the trunk latch stopped working, the drivers side window went down when I was turning it up, and the heat has been NON EXISTENT. Also, the SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK ABOVE 50 MPH.
Ramero told us the car had been gone through, and that no issues were found. There is no rust or rot, it has fairly new tires, a clean CARFAX history, and with him taking it home three times via I-91 himself, he made us feel confident in my signing and buying from him. I wish he had been transparent about the issues with this car- it would have given us the information we should've had to make the best decision about whether we wanted to worry about so many repairs. After test driving, the heat was my main concern. But clearly the transmission has issues, and the electrical system does as well. I specifically asked him if the car had any issues that needed repair, and he said no. He said "it is what it is, it's 26 years old, but I drive it home three times and had no issues. How could he not realize any of the things that are wrong with this car?! Especially being a euro car dealership.
PLEASE be aware that Ramero will NOT disclose the issues a vehicle from his lot, even when you ask him directly. He is very polite and chatted with us, so if you are looking for that, he's wonderful. But this doesn't discount the fact that none of the issues with this car were disclosed to us while we were there and asking... and now we are stuck chasing issues.
I see many great reviews here, which I used to make my decision on going to this dealership. My review is simply a BUYER BEWARE; that purchasing a used vehicle from this dealership will be at your own risk.
Hi - very sorry about your experience. I remember you guys coming and purchasing the car, which I had just taken home after an uneventful 70 mile trip. Heat worked just fine, and transmission was fine too. I spoke to the mechanic who inspected your car, and we did not found any codes in the car at that time.
That said, some issues can and should be expected with a 26-year old VW bought for under $5K.
Some things you and us could have done better:
DEALERSHIP
1. Some issues present themselves only after running the car for an extended period of time. We could have run the car for more miles - we generally run them for 30 miles, as it would be impractical to do it for more.
CUSTOMER
1. You could have taken the car for a 3rd party mechanical inspection. We always allow that.
2. Even though the car was listed at a price below KBB and market price, your husband made a deliberately low offer. The problem with negotiating price aggressively is that it leaves no room to address any unexpected issues. As you see in our over 450 reviews, we are known for working with our customers even on as-is cars.
2. You could have told us about the issues, and ask if there was something we could do to help. We operate a full mechanic shop and are able to address issues of this kind. Again - with the amazing deal you got it would have been a stretch, but it never hurts to ask.
3. You could have taken a longer test drive - maybe then the issues would have presented themselves, and we could have collaborated in finding a solution.
We'd now recommend: a. Replace the transmission fluid and filter. Again, it had been shifting just fine (as you document yourself). That may take care of the issue. 2. A coolant flush will probably help with the heating. You and I tested the heating on the lot, and you were satisfied with the interior temperature. Neither one of those are expensive repairs in a VW of that generation. The car had under 75K CarFax documented miles, so the platform is solid.

We purchased a BMW when we test drove the car we realized it needed just a few things. They were great and agreed to fix everything. While waiting for the car to get fixed they were in contact with me every day sending me pictures and giving me updates. The radio needed new lights and instead of just fixing it they replaced the old radio with a brand new updated radio with a large screen and even installed a backup camera. We picked up the vehicle and that night we noticed a noise in the car. I text them and they contacted me first thing in the morning and told me to bring the car right in. I brought the car and was given a loaner car. Again they had my new car for about 3 days and updated me every day and also sent pictures. As soon as my car was done they called me I picked up the car and it was fixed perfectly. I would recommend this dealership to anyone! They were great and communicated amazing. Ramiro was great during our whole process!

the guys over there are great. I inquired about a vehicle and got a response in less than to minutes. we set up an appointment and when i arrived I was greeted kindly. I’m $7000 in the hole on safety issues for a car that was never inspected before being placed on the lot. Steer very clear of Ramiro. He’ll take full advantage of you and then gaslight into making it your fault. Wouldn’t even fix inspection issues despite law. I’ve filed with the BBB. Be warned. I’ve got plenty of screenshot text receipts.

Sold me a car with major problems. Needed a new cat converter, blown head gasket, wiring was fried for the head lights, and the list goes on. 10 miles after i left the dealer the check engine light comes on. Absolutely the worst car buying experience of my life. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. YOU'LL REGRET IT.

CarHavn is a place that I highly recommend to everyone. From the moment Ramiro looked at my vehicle I could tell he was an expert at dealing with BMW's. He was professional throughout the entire experience and you can tell he just really cares about cars and making sure customers are happy. He is very communicative and want the best for you and your vehicle. My timing chain needed to be replaced along with some oil leaks and it was wayyyy cheaper than the dealer's quote. CarHavn is a great establishment. I brought my Audi A8 in for misfiring & rough idling. Ramrio was very helpful and knowledgeable. He had my car diagnostics when a couple hours. Turn out is was the timing chain, which had me a little worried because most shops do not touch a 4.2 V8 engines let alone the timing chain is in the back of the motor, which means the whole motor had to come out. But Ramrio insured me his shop was up to the task and had done this job many times. While the engine was out Ramrio informed me of other issues and parts that need to be address. (part fee no labor) They sent me picture of all the parts and all the work as it was being done. Which was something new to me. (Very impressive) That shows they are committed to customer service. Once i got my car back she ran like a beauty. No complaints what so ever. Ramiro and the Carhavn team is one of kind!
