The good news is that you and your guests will be utterly blown away by the event you plan with Chef Matthew and his team. They transformed our kitchen into a professional-grade workspace and prepared course after course of Michelin star quality plates. From the prep, to the table scape, to the introduction of each dish as they’re served simultaneously and meticulously to each guest, is truly something to behold. Now—the bad news…Everyone that attended was depressed the next day after experiencing such an unforgettable evening the night before. If you’re looking for an epic, milestone celebration, Chef Matthew will exceed your expectations without question.

I had his food at an event for family who hired him. It did not live up to the hype and Chef Matthew Alexander was very rude and smug. I guess good looks only get you so far and you think you can be rude and treat people poorly. Oh well.

Chef Matthew was amazing! He took his time talking with me about the menu and wanted to get it perfect for my husband’s 40th Birthday dinner. We did 6 courses and all the food was delicious!! (Homemade gelato 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻) We will definitely want to do this again with him!

I hired chef Alexander to cater a meal in my home. After hiring him and agreeing on prices (including thurough photos and floor plans of the 3 kitchens at his disposal), he later added on more and more costs, threatening to reduce food quality and quantity if I did not oblige. In the end the cost was significantly higher to us than what he agreed from the start. Food was fine, certainly not to the quality of dining experience we are accustomed to. In addition he messed up the bride’s vegetarian meal(it was literally just a pile of mushrooms in an empty plate and we had to ask them to fix it). Maybe his service and food quality have declined since becoming a new parent? Either way, I cannot recommend chef Matthew; you’re better off a hiring a chef who is upfront, and can give your event the attention it deserves, for the price it certainly should have. Oh and definitely steer clear of Nathalie. She is chef Matthew’s assistant nothing more, not a wedding planner. Don’t make the same mistake and let her ruin your day.

If your reading this please understand this 1 star review is directly connected to the other 2 (1) star reviews we just recieved. They were all written by the same person. This person has even went as far as to use an “allias”, Clare Sheng. Clare is not a client of ours, we dont know her personally and have zero relation to her. This person is now using her partners account to leave yet another false and derogatory review. We have been advised by out legal team not to elaborate on what really transpired that dayas they will be handling this harassment and false claims moving forward. Many people would be outraged if they or their business were being slandered like this. However I am very spiritual, I meditate on a daily basis, and have unconditional love for the higher power. Ironically infuriation has not filled me what so ever. I am saddened to know that someone could be filled with so much anger and hate. The energy it takes to write 3 reviews under false pretense signifies a much deeper rooted issue which has manifested and shown its face here. We are just a causality of war between good and evil. For this reason i do not take this personally nor does it enrage me. I have and will continue to send peaceful harmoniuos love and energy to this person. Life is to short and beautiful to have it be engulfed by such darkness.

I could have tolerated his lack of professionalism and poor attitude if his food were good enough, but it just wasn't. I should have gone with lower cost chefs, I guarantee their food would have been better; even if it wasn't, it would be worth it to avoid chef Matthew's unprofessional bad attitude. Thank you very much for the response, Chef Matthew. You have given all readers a glimpse into the unprofessionalism I was referring to. From the beginning, Chef Matthew was quick to respond, and was communicative about the process and what he had in mind. He paid attention to every detail from the setup of our kitchen to the distance to our table. He asked questions to really cater to our group. He created a menu that was diverse and adventurous, which we all love. He was also very accommodating, especially considering he had to travel a couple hours for our group. Upon arrival, he and his assistant were quick with setup. They were very professional; we were all able to relax while they prepared the meal. They also left the kitchen spotless before they left. As for the meal itself, everything was amazing. They nailed the timing of each dish, and each dish was its own luxurious experience. Many of the dishes we had, we commented on how it was the best version that we have ever had. Even if it’s a food or flavor you don’t typically go for, just trust the process. We all had a fun time learning about Chef Matthew’s experiences during each course and learning about the cuisine. Overall, it was a joyful night during our vacation. Highly recommend.

I met Chef Matthew at previous event and was blown away by the experience so I hired him for my friend’s bachelorette dinner this past weekend. Chef Matthew and his amazing team traveled all of the way out to Sag Harbor. They set up the most beautiful seafood station and dinner table. Chef Matthew cooked 2 courses for 21 girls. He accommodated us with two different main dishes and accounted for all allergies and dietary restrictions. I was again amazed by the experience! The food was outstanding and everyone is still raving about it! Thank you to Chef Mathew and his team for an unforgettable experience!

Chef Matthew is an excellent talker. He much have been a salesman in a previous career. He will talk you up, sell you on everything he will provide for you. Then once he has your deposit, the issues, and added costs start piling on. We were forced to make changes to our property including installing multiple power outlets on the exterior of our home, purchase an enormous amount of professional kitchen equipment, all because Chef Matthew didn't do his homework and passed the bill on to us. Our home has 3 kitchens available for his use. He had us build and entire professional kitchen outside, only after we gave the deposit. On another note, under NO circumstances should you hire his so called wedding planner/assistant Natalie. We hired her for a full wedding planner cost and she completely ruined our wedding ceremony. She was late to set up(late because chef Mathew kept her at the house to assist him, instead of doing the job we paid her for) the very simple ceremony and then did not set it up at all. The bride set up the wedding ceremony on her own. Chef Matthew and his assistant Natalie ruined our wedding. It is a day I can never get back and hiring them was the biggest mistake of my life. Take this warning seriously. Especially in regards to Natalie, do not hire her under any circumstances. I reached out after the wedding with my concerns multiple times and got no response from either. Completely unprofessional.

As the cliche states there are 2 sides to every story. If you are reading this please ask yourself how does a company with such an impeccable reputation receive such a demonstrative review? Anyone who is a critical thinker can easily recognize that something does NOT add up. We/Sabor de Arte have worked painstakingly hard to have branded ourselves as an elite Luxury Chef Company. This has been done through integrity, transparency, loyalty, and consistency with every single client we have serviced. Therefore, as much as I would like to entertain everyone with what exactly transpired that day. It is beneath me to share someone’s UN-STABLE behavior with the world. I would like to note the brides mother expressed her gratitude to us throughout the entire wedding. She commented more than once how incredible the food and service was. The bride’s sister also commented stating that “the food was no ordinary wedding food”, and that they are a really judgmental crowd when it comes to food and we exceeded ALL expectations.The groom thanked us immensely and completely understood why all the equipment was needed to be purchased. His gratitude was expressed verbally and monetarily through the generosity of his gratuity. I would like to thank Gale Lauren Foster (jens mom), Harrison (Jens Husband) and Jens sister for the support and recognition of all our hard work. I would also like to thank my staff and every vendor for RISING aboveand beyond while riding an emotional roller coaster from morning till night. Adversity like we all experienced, only makes you stronger. Congratulations to all what a huge succes!!!!!!!!

We booked Chef Matthew for my mom’s 65th birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing! He worked with us to customize the 5 course menu with all of her favorite dishes. The food and service were top notch and made for a very memorable night. Highly recommend!

Wow! What a perfect way to celebrate a special birthday with my family and friends and Chef Matthew! Our five course meal plus dessert was beyond perfection from start to finish. Our table was full of 11 foodies, one being a chef himself and we all agreed that each course was amazingly delicious. When asked at the end of the meal what our top two dishes were, to be honest I did not have a top two….I loved every single course. From tuna to vegetarian to lamb to wild boar ragu to duck….I wish I could do this all over again for every birthday. You can’t go wrong with Chef Matthew. Professional from start to finish. Thank you Chef!

We had Chef Matthew for my husbands 60th at our Airbnb in New Paltz! We had the best time! The food was so amazing, that even our most finicky eater tried foods he swore he hated!!!! We had a blast and the experience was very memorable. Chef Matthew is very knowledgeable and my family was so intrigued they asked Chef a lot of questions which he answered expertly and so patiently. Chef Matthew’s food was well worth it and he truly gives you the full Michelin five star experience. So glad we did it!!!
