Very informative and interesting presentation.

I have attended Yvonne Wolf's presentations on “What's in a Name? Beginning Steps to Your Chinese Ancestry Search” a collaborative session with Glenview library. I must say it was an exceptional session. Very informative presentation, good slides, good historical anecdote. She is wonderful and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Great presentation- I learned a lot!

It was interesting learned a lot about tea I didn’t know. Every culture has they own unique of things we take for grant thanks for sharing your culture and knowledge with us at the center.

The presentation on East Asian Gardens was well executed. I learned many things about my own culture with regard to Chinese gardens, such as why the bridges over the water areas in the garden were sometimes designed in a zig-zag shape. I also learned about the presence of Qi and Yin and Yang energy incorporated in the planning of the garden, etc. I now realize why the huge rocks are so important in the garden, other than being an artistic piece of nature. My husband and I have been to many gardens in China and elsewhere and enjoyed their beauty but now I have a better understanding of the nuances involved in its planning. I learned a lot and will find enhanced pleasure in walking through these gardens from now on. Yvonne did a great job in explaining the importance of and the symbolic nature of the various trees, plants and mountains, among other things. I look forward to other presentations by her.

Thank you, Yvonne, for sharing your research on the San Francisco Chinatown - the Chinese coming to the US, the reasons for coming, the treatments they received, and the contributions they provided. It is of mutual benefit to two great nations to respect and to benefit one another. There are so much wealth of knowledge and benefits when individuals are open to each other and respect each other without bias. I thank you for bringing this point across to the audience.

The Chinese Cultural presentation was an exceptional experience. Yvonne’s unique background in both the Chinese and the Western cultures has given her the ability to present the Chinese culture in a way someone from the Western culture (like me) can understand and appreciate. I look forward to seeing more of her presentations. I highly recommend attending future presentations provided by Yvonne Wolf.
