I had a wonderful yoga retreat experience at Eden on the Chocolata from December 8-13, 2024. They accommodated my dates with a flex retreat to help with schedule alignment. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a serene and nurturing space, thanks to the incredible owners, Remy and Kelly, and the amazing instructors, LaToya and Katie. The daily yoga sessions with LaToya and/or Katie were absolutely soul-refreshing. Their guidance was thoughtful and inspiring, helping me connect with my body and mind. Katie’s Somatic healing session was a deeply moving experience—I was able to visualize and feel parts of myself that I’ve never before related to in that way. I was surprised at how quickly her voice/methods helped me tap into my inner self having never experienced a somatic session before! LaToya's sound bath session was vibration full and moving! The owners, Remy and Kelly, bring a special magic to Eden. Remy’s quick responses to my numerous inquiries prior to arriving put my mind at ease since I’ve never booked a trip without a personal referral before. This time I was relying primarily on positive reviews from the book retreats site. Kelly led a beautiful and grounding Temazcal ceremony, which was a spiritually enriching experience followed by an ice bath. Remy’s Breathworks session was powerful, teaching us techniques that I can leverage in the future, which was also followed by the opportunity to participate in yet another ice bath. On my first try, I managed 37 seconds, and by the second attempt, I stayed in for 1 minute and 10 seconds. It was an exhilarating experience! I also had the pleasure of meeting some really amazing and fun people from all over the world, including folks from the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and Mexico. The retreat’s schedule was perfectly balanced, allowing me plenty of free time to explore the nearby hostel, hike to the breathtaking Christ statue, and wander through the lively city center to get some souvenirs. A few practical notes for future visitors: definitely bring bug spray, as the tropical setting comes with its share of mosquitoes and various other bugs! Also, be prepared for the tropical vibe of the rooms—they’re beautifully rustic and cozy with mosquito nets around the beds, but they don’t have A/C, so pack light and breathable clothing. They advised us to bring sleep masks and ear plugs, which definitely came in handy because it gets dark very early and light very early prompting all the creatures of the jungle to chime in with their voices early and loudly! 😊 Eden on the Chocolata is more than a retreat center—it’s a haven for personal growth, healing, and connection. Remy, Kelly, and their team create an environment where you feel seen, supported, and uplifted. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone seeking a transformative experience in a stunning, peaceful setting. Thank you, Eden on the Chocolata, for such a life-changing retreat. My stay at Eden on the Chocolata was magical! I stayed in the shared bungalow (3 people per room), which was the newest of the cabins. Staff cleaned the room every day and it was very well kept. Each bed is equipped with netting to keep the bugs out and the beds were very comfortable. The service at Eden was absolutely amazing, everyone was so kind, welcoming and extremely helpful. I did the 8 day yoga retreat and I would highly recommend it. The yoga, workshops and ceremonies were highlights of my trip and I left feeling restored, balanced and full of love from all of the amazing people I met. I am hoping to be back very soon!

This place is a dream - I’d stay here longer if I could. The yoga classes were wonderful - I had Katie and La Toya, massages were the best I’ve ever had and ridiculously cheap, the food was clean and tasty, the surf instructor (Eduardo) is incredibly patient and kind, and the staff is top-notch - Scott and Eli made sure we were well taken care of. Internet surprisingly was a 10/10 and was easy for me to take meetings and work remotely. 100% recommend - I’ll be back again.

The staff and property are equally amazing. The schedule and food are very well thought out. They have executed their vision and tuned into the needs of others perfectly. Would return in a heartbeat :) Can’t say enough good things.

Loved staying at Eden! It was a wonderful escape from reality — the yoga shala has an incredible view and I found between all of the different activities done I never really got bored. Plus the people were so friendly, Latoya was super sweet and friendly…hope to be back soon!

If you are looking for the perfect place to enjoy your holiday, this is it! The cabana’s are very nice and sleeping there makes you feel connected to nature. Remy and Kelly and their team will do anything to make you feel at home. The outstanding yoga classes are definitely a big addition to the experience. Will come back for sure!

An amazing and unforgettable experience. All the people who work @ Eden are super friendly and make you feel at home in a surreal environment in nature. The classes are so good and you can also go for surfing or relaxing at the beach close by. Being in nature surrounded by like minded people gave me such a good vibe. I highly recommend this place.

I had an amazing time at Eden. The staff is super friendly, the food is amazing and the view in the yoga shala is breathtaking. All the activities are incredible in their own right. I can’t say enough good things about the owners and staff. 100% satisfied. Would love to go back.

Amazing stay at Eden. The staff is great. It is a personal and intimate retreat center with great and affordable pricing. The yoga classes are superior, overlooking the ocean. The room is nice and comfortable and the food is delicious. Only positivity here.

Eden is the perfect place to get away and work on yourself. The natural wood cabanas with open air, allows for the sounds of nature and air flow to feel cool even on hot days. The reteat leaders are really focused on personal growth with more healing activities than other retreat centers. With a beautiful view of the ocean and staff there to help you feel healthy and relaxed, this resort is perfect for someone looking to relax or work on themselves.

If you are looking for a place to escape from the world, sleep, experience the peace and quiet, and be one with nature, this is not the place. If you don’t care about those things, you’d probably enjoy yourself. The views are gorgeous though. While they had everything you’d ideally want in a yoga retreat, there were so many negatives that overshadowed any of the good. I want to share my experience as I was there for 6 days and left feeling more depleted and frustrated than I have ever been in my life. Just to note: I was not the only traveler experiencing these things. 1. There is CONSTANT construction, EVERYWHERE. Eden was building a new bungalow right next to ours during the day, which completely disrupted us every single day. Another guest complained about it the day before we arrived saying they need to disclose that, so they sent an email the night before arrival stating “we MIGHT be doing construction to improve your experience” when really they should have just said “there is construction of a new bungalow, which has nothing to do with your experience happening right now”. 2. The neighboring land is an asphalt factory so be prepared to listen to beeping all day and evening and then be woken up by the smell of tar and chemicals throughout the night. 3. They are widening the roads everywhere so all you hear are trucks dumping, honking, beeping. They are also burning the woodlands everywhere so you breathe that in all day. There is not a moment of silence while on this property. 4. A dog followed us back after trying for 45 minutes to chase it away (which we were told happens), and the husband of one of the yoga instructor’s was clearly upset about it and went out of his way to kick the little dog the morning we left while she was just hanging out with everyone at breakfast. Not. Cool. 5. Probably one of the biggest downfalls were the mattresses. If you could even call them that. They were basically box springs. The worst sleep we’ve ever had. During yoga multiple individuals were in pain and unable to do a lot of the poses due to terrible back and neck pain which they said they didn’t usually experience. Eden said they recognized the mattresses weren’t good and have been slowly replacing them, but most of the cabins still had the bad ones from what we gathered talking with others. 6. As an “eco-resort”, they should be more mindful of the environment. On the first morning there, my travel companion (who is an entomologist) watched them spray pesticides all over the property. We enjoy traveling to see wildlife, and that includes insects and bugs, and they were nowhere to be found. 7. The beaches nearby were not swimmable. The water is murky and there’s just trash everywhere (saw multiple syringes on the shoreline which was enough to not visit that beach again). The list of pros: 1. Katie, the yoga instructor was amazing! We looked forward to her restorative yoga every evening and she lead an amazing cacao ceremony. 2. The ocean view bungalow and yoga space has a beautiful view! Very stunning. 3. The cleaning staff and cooks were friendly. 4. The food was pretty good. It was a bit repetitive but enjoyable enough. Though, if you eat gluten free they cater to you by just giving you a plate of lettuce with veggies, so it wasn’t very creative. 5. To get away from the frustration of being on the property we headed down to Aquaholics beach club which is where we spent 3 days to escape the noises of Eden. Here they have a pretty beach (but it’s rocky so you can’t lay out), great food, and a pool to swim in. Very enjoyable. 6. Eden set up the taxi to and from the airport which was very convenient. 7. Loved all the cats and dogs on property. They were definitely a highlight. There is hope for Eden especially after the construction dies down, but I don’t expect that to be completed anytime soon. Especially the work being done outside the property which is out of their control. It was unfortunate to have these experiences after reading SO MANY positive reviews. Hoping my review paints a more realistic picture.

I had the most relaxing and transformative week at Eden. The place is so tranquil and zen, the rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. The food is so fresh and delicious. The staff at Eden are wonderful and super accommodating. The yoga deck and yoga instructors are amazing. This is a place to go if you are trying to find peace and tranquility and reset.

Wonderful and peaceful experience! Great way to connect with nature and the food was delicious. If you want a chill yoga retreat where you are surrounded by nature, come here. Highly recommend. Tip: bring bug spray.

Edén is in an amazing location. Just outside of San Juan Del Sur, it is near great beaches either for relaxing or surfing. The staff is all super friendly and helpful. The yoga classes are great and it’s so nice having s yin class almost daily. The center is beautiful, the yoga shala and common area has a great view all the way to the ocean with good places to relax in a hammock or on a couch. The WIFI is 20MB up/down so any meetings were easy to take along with WiFi in the room. The food was all also so fresh and healthy, with an optional menu during the day. I loved the smoothies and energy balls. Rooms were nice with multiple fans and hot showers. Loved my stay and look forward to returning.

An amazing place to relax and fall in love with SJDS. Make sure you take the breakfast and dinner- because it is delicious! The yoga retreat was amazing and the teachers were so nice. Would recommend this with all my heart.

Beautiful views, amazing, friendly staff, fresh vegetarian meal options, and gorgeous pool. Slightly out of San Juan del Sur (only a 10 min drive by taxi or shuttle) allowed for a truly delightful stay. Cannot wait to return!
