The small, family run company, Gringo Tours - El Salvador, provided us with excellent services including safe, quality transfers, flexible tours and rewarding birdwatching sites. They planned and facilitated for us full days of birdwatching around San Salvador, Suchitoto, Miramundo and the Cerro Verde Park and assisted us to our final coastal beach for rest and relaxation. Excellent service began with our airport pickup, by Gabriel, who took us to eat some delicious pupusas. Later Gabriel's father would drive us to another location for birdwatching. Meanwhile Rober Broz was amazingly knowledgeable about all things El Salvador and while coordinating and conducting transits at times had fascinating stories to tell. We do not always learn as much as we did about a country when birdwatching and it enriched the experience tremendously. Impromptu cultural experiences were the pleasant unexpected surprises amidst the birdwatching. Meanwhile the other local guides that we had, Melvin Bonilla and Victor Barrientos, were frankly excellent. Highlights were Melvin finding us a Blue-throated Motmot and a first for us, our finding Victor a life bird, Blue-winged Warbler! It is rare that we get to pay back a guide for their showing us all the life birds. In our ten day tour we saw over 200 species of birds, many Neotropical migratory birds, which is always fun, and a few dozen life birds. We highly recommend Gringo Tours - El Salvador for your tour planning and logistical needs. Friendly and ingenuitive, we greatly appreciated their service. Similarly we found El Salvador to be safe, with little to no crime (that we witnessed), and while we did not partake this time, appears to offer other fun activities like volcano climbing and surfing, not to mention excellent food, of course, including pupusas!

Robert is a generous and gracious host and guide! We learned more about ES culture, history, psyche and hospitality from him in one day than we did from the rest of our 2 month stay in the country! The tour we took was largely bespoke and Robert great care to make sure our kids (3 under 12s) were well entertained, hydrated and informed! He altered pace and programming on the fly without batting an eyelid. On the Civil War tour, we spent time with a former guerilla fighter. No question we asked was off limits and all were answered with candor and thoughtfulness. There’s no way to get this level of richness from a book or video. Unforgettable experience! Ps the pupusas we made were delicious!

I highly recommend Robert as a tour guide for El Salvador. He was truly outstanding ! He gave us insightful information on Suchitoto and on the country in general. He is very knowledgeable and fun to be with. He obviously loves the country which renders the visit all the more interesting and meaningful. We had an absolutely great time in his company (Sochitlan lake boat tour, cascadas, Suchitoto city tour).

I would like to thank Robert and his wife Tita first of all for being great hosts and treating us like family. The experience was amazing and authentic. If you would like to experience an authentic pupusa making class this is it. Robert and his wife were very accommodating to make our experience/activity truly great. They were amazing throughout the entire class. We were even treated to coffee and fresh smoothies. Thank you again Robert and Tita!! Truly cherish the experience and time spent with you guys. Didn't have a tour directly with Gringo Tours but they were super helpful when I got in touch. They organised a tour with someone for a day they didn't have any running themselves. They gave me loads of recommendations and advice on how best to get to the location, what to expect and helped me get a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend them off my interactions with them alone! Thanks again!

What can I say... Roberto and his team were excellent!! He was very responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful! The drivers were attentive and safe. If I were to ever return to El Salvador there's no hesitation of who I'm calling!

We were visiting Suchitoto for a few days and we were looking for a tour company to take us for the War historic walk at Cinquera Forest. We found Robert’s company on google maps under Gringo tours. I dropped him a message and Robert was fast, reliable and managed to arrange a last minute tour for us the following day. I must say, it was an exceptional experience. Robert’s deep knowledge and passion for the area’s history brought the tales of the 80s vividly to life. He didn’t just recount facts but we felt we were in a documentary as we heard the stories, met local people in the area and an ex-guerrilla fighter. His company, which was very professional and well-organized, ensured that our tour was not only educational but also comfortable and safe. He was caring enough to bring us breakfast, coffee and took us for a light lunch. My brother-in-law and I booked an overnight road trip from San Salvador to Copan Ruinas with Robert, the owner of Gringo Tours. Everything fell right into order as planned. Robert and his wife Tita were wonderful traveling companions. It was like traveling with family on our road trip. Highly recommend using Gringo Tours and don't hesitate to visit El Salvador! An incredible experience!

We used Gringo tours twice during our visit to El Salvador and it was a faultless experience. We used them as a transfer service between a few places whilst we were there. Communication from the outset and throughout the process was brilliant, the journeys were quick and efficient and the drivers really friendly. For our first transfer they were there waiting for us as we landed with a sign with our names on it. Whilst the service might be more expensive than public transport options, I’d highly recommend this personal service to optimise your time in this beautiful country and the public transport can often be slow and require multiple changes.

Robert is an absolute pleasure to chat with and a wealth of information about things to do in El Salvador. I dropped into his office a couple days ago hoping to do a tour but unfortunately he was headed out for some vacation of his own. But he happily sat me down and gave me a ton of great ideas about things to see and do on my own, as well as put me in contact with someone else to arrange the tour that I wanted to go on. Robert provided my wife and I an amazing tour through El Salvador. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the history of every site we saw, but he also had great information on the local birds, industry, agriculture, and all the changes going on in this dynamic gem of central America. He is quick with a great recommendation for a delicious meal or a fabulous cup of coffee. But most importantly Gringo Tours treats everyone in the communities they visit with the same respect as their client guests. Not only is the service top notch but they are sustainable and community oriented as well. I highly recommend Gringo Tours for anyone looking to see the best of El Salvador.

Perfectly organized trip in El Salvador. It was a pleasure having Rober as a guide. Very knowledgeable about the country, always on time, excellent suggestions how to organize the day, which is the best local food etc. The choice of the hotels was outstanding. Very quick communication even before arriving in El Salvador which was much appreciated. Very professional attitude from the beginning to the end of the trip. Highly recommended.
