I had a cornea transplant over 20 years ago at Dr Johann Kruger. Amazing medical team, I was a final year student, with challenging vision problems and ended up finishing my studies, thanks to this life changing treatment.

I’ve had the pleasure of being seen by Karen twice, and I can confidently say she excels at her work. Her communication with patients is particularly impressive; she is clear, highly professional, and fosters a sense of confidence in her services. And she clearly loves what she does. Karen truly reflects the high standards of the practice. Compliments to you, Karen! I also want to acknowledge the wonderful staff at the clinic overall—they all contribute to a fantastic experience.

Theatre staff are lovely and kind. My only complaint is the reception staff who are unfriendly. Dr Rautenbach is brilliant

The staff and doctors are great, the service was excellent but the result and cost just wasn't worth it for me. I was farsighted and after turning 40 I struggled to see up close, my one eye was the culprit and the procedure was meant to bring back my 20/20 vision. They performed lazik on one eye and PRK on the other, one being stronger to reading and the other for distance. The result instead flipped everything around, my vision up close is amazing but distance is blurry. My vision was so bad for months but I stuck it out initially. I was told that it can take up to a year for everything to correct itself, after 6 months I just couldn't live with it anymore and got glasses. I was asked to keep going back but I simply could not afford the appointments, after paying out so much money I did not expect the regular appointments afterwards, I was that one in a hundred patients. If you are farsighted and you're thinking of getting Lazik I wouldn't risk it. I am going to try the one contact lens for a while and see if I can't improve my eyesight that way.

I want to update this review to help inform people considering this op. I’m coming up on two years since the IPCL operation and was hoping to change the review. As stated previously my eye sight has improved by about 70%, so unfortunately I am back on glasses, though it is nice not depending on them always. What will however, always be something scratching in the back of my mind, is that my right eye has always been a bit worse than my left, and still is. My left was, for a long time, on -2.5 and my right on -2.75. The official cards I received from the facility on what they put into my eyes was -2.5 on BOTH. So, either: 1) they purposefully implanted the same strength into both, hoping the right will adjust, which unfortunately it has not, or; 2) made an error and implanted 2x -2.50 lenses instead of a -2.5 & -2.75. For the benefit of the doubt I will assume it was 1), but hence why one can’t expect 20/20 vision from them.

The past year and a half since having my contact lense implant surgery has been amazing, I love being able to see clearly. I had worn glasses most of my life and I did not qualify for laser surgery, my option was to get the contact lense implants. I have never looked back since then. The world looks absolutely AMAZING!!

I had my one eye cataract operation done and can't wait for the next one. The overall experience was stress-free and relaxed. I was met by friendly staff and the atmosphere in theatre was joyful with calm music playing in the background. Definitely a recommendation from me. Thank you

Anxious about what was to come after my initial assessment at the V&A Clinic in Cape Town, any concerns I had were dispelled by virtue of the smooth flow of assessments made by Dr. Johann Krüger and his staff. Plans were made for treatments and three surgeries to fit in well with my travel schedule. Before long, it was on the 15th of February 2024 that my pterygium was removed, not only painlessly, but also seamlessly. This has been a great relief in that all prior opinions in Canada were to keep deferring surgery. I am relieved to have met Dr Krüger and now to have this behind me. On the 20th of February 2024, the other eye was operated on for cataract removal and a lens implant (reading distance). So far, no less than brilliant is the result. Again, a totally painless experience it has all been to date. Of course, I am experiencing some minor degree of blurriness until the second eye is corrected and cataracts removed. The final surgery is to take place on the now pterygium-free eye on the 2nd of April 2024. The result of all of this will be to see if, indeed, my wearing glasses for the past almost 40 years (trifocals) can be dispensed with, and my sight being rendered sharper than ever. I will produce a final Google review once all of this has had time to settle down. Thank you for all the success thus far Dr. Krüger and your wonderfully trained and personable staff!

I had my eye laser done in 2007 by Dr Johan Kruger, an absolute professional, great facilities and professional staff. A life-changing experience. 17 years later and still going strong! I highly recommend this Eye Laser Clinic.

Had my Lasik Eye Surgery booked with Dr Kruger in December 2023. My operation was a huge success and I'm so grateful 🙏 The staff at the reception desk are also friendly and helpful and all my interactions with staff has been pleasant.
