At Fortuna, we fully support free speech and respect Mr. Callan’s right to share his views, even though we find his review to be clearly and intentionally misleading. Mr. Callan is a former employee, and in 2019, we parted ways due to his inability to perform in his role. Since then, Mr. Callan has had no involvement with Fortuna in any way, shape, or form. At no time has he been a client of Fortuna, nor has he experienced consigning with us. For these reasons, Mr. Callan’s review is, quite obviously, intentionally misleading, and we find it unfortunate that he chose to leave such feedback so many years later, seemingly unprompted and certainly without merit or validity. We agree on one point: there are indeed other reputable auction houses. While we believe none of them serve the same niche with the focus and unique excellence that Fortuna provides, we have nothing negative to say about them. We encourage our consignors to explore alternatives, as we welcome competition and believe it strengthens a healthy free market. Fortuna is built on excellence, and our track record speaks for itself—our clients consistently experience exceptional results, as reflected in the multitude of genuine, positive reviews. We’re not sure what prompted Mr. Callan to post this review so many years later, and we genuinely hope he finds more fulfilling ways to spend his time than leaving misleading reviews for former employers. While frustration may be apparent in our tone, we sincerely wish Mr. Callan nothing but the best and hope he can find closure, move forward, and find success in other pursuits.
