The wait for our reserved table was appallingly long!

Excellent service

Had a good time.

Outstanding food and excellent service. The restaurant is divided between the prix fix dining room and the ala cart tavern area. The former requires a reservation placed well in advance, while the latter allows for walk-in diners. We were told the wait would be approximately 90 minutes for the tavern, but they texted us only 30 minutes later on a Saturday evening. The food is simply amazing. I have eaten in the dining room and the tavern, and both were incredible. On our most recent visit,you we started with lamb tare tare and pumpkin flat bread with ham and greens, both of which were good enough to interrupt our conversation. The pork ribs, sea bass, and polenta that followed were incredible. The chocolate cake dessert topped it all off. Each dish surpasses the next. This is one of the best restaurants in the world, and they have a Michelin star to prove it.

Food was mediocre at best. Front of house staff are obnoxious. It’s really that simple. Seated people at managers discretion and not in order of wait time. The ambience is lovely, especially around Christmas time but not worth the hype! There’s too many great restaurants and bars in NYC so save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else!

Great atmosphere and food

Came here on a Wednesday around noon for lunch with no reservation. We were told we could sit at the bar if that was okay and it was! The decor inside is cozy and inviting. It truly Gives a tavern feel but being more upscale. It’s beautifully decorated for the holidays as well. The bartender was incredible. He was fast and efficient without making us feel rushed. The beet and carrot burratta salad is the best I’ve had. I also had the bolognese and it was Melt in your mouth good. This is a spot I will definitely return to!

The food was amazing, and our server James guided us expertly. Every staff person we came in contact with made us feel at home. Had traveled from out of town and hadn't been to Gramercy since before the pandemic. The experience was a great welcome back.

Every course, every bite, was absolutely delicious! I haven't been this excited about food, including vegetables, since Circa 1886 in Charleston. Ran to Amazon for this chef's cookbooks. In addition to memorable food, including the best apple tart of my life, the service, atmosphere, and cocktails were all lovely.

Great place, would love to return there some day

An NYC icon and classic that serves highly seasonal food and sophisticated cocktails. Gramercy Tavern makes vegetables sing. In the current menu, the broccolini salad and the butternut squash lumache were the standouts. Sure, the broccolini salad looks simple, but it’s the best broccolini I’ve had. My guess is the broccolini was blanched in heavily salted water and then shocked in an ice bath to bring out the vegetable’s best qualities: a deep emerald green, a healthy snap and crunch, and a reduced bitterness to let the vegetal flavors shine better. I’ll have to try replicating it at home. The butternut squash lumache tasted so intensely rich and velvety and nutty from the brown butter, yet it had enough acidity to give it some lift. Pasta had nice chew too. Oh, and the fruit sorbets were also amazing, somehow super-concentrated while remaining light. The romano beans had way too much pine nut sauce, though, to the point of being sickeningly cloying. The soggy dosa wasn’t particularly good either. This item needs a revamp. Gramercy Tavern’s under Danny Meyer’s USHG so of course the service will be excellent. The server helped us choose the menu options that are right for us. Waitstaff non-intrusively whisked away the empty cocktail glasses. I only caught a glint at the corner of my vision and then my glass was gone like a magic trick. I felt well taken care of. I want to tell a story of unreasonable hospitality. Many years ago when I was a student with little spending money, I walked into the Dining Room thinking I’d order a few dishes a la carte as I had done for lunch. I didn’t know that the Dining Room only serves a tasting menu for dinner. Upon realizing my mistake, I asked to be put on the waiting list for the Tavern as I didn’t have the money for it. The staff let me wait in the Dining Room instead of asking me to wait outside. Upon sitting at the bar, I was given a complimentary plate of leeks vinaigrette. This kindness and generosity left a lasting impression. I’m not sure why I haven’t been back since, but the place still exudes the same warmth. It’ll be a top choice for lunch.

Tasting menu with wine pairings. Second time we've done that, on a rare visit to Manhattan. The really good food is local ingredients and unique, and the portions are suitable for multiple courses without being overfull.
