I recently moved into this community and have encountered ongoing challenges with the HOA. Communication has been particularly difficult, as it has been a struggle to get in touch with them. I reported overgrown trees that are making contact with multiple areas of my roof. While the HOA acknowledged the issue and stated it was ‘on their radar,’ they informed me that other priorities take precedence.
Additionally, I submitted a request regarding a roof leak, and while I was initially told that a quote had been requested, I received no further updates before the request was unexpectedly closed. Despite these unresolved issues, the HOA recently announced a 17% increase in monthly fees, which will now exceed $400/month. This lack of responsiveness, coupled with the significant fee increase, has been a source of frustration.

HOA Strategies were very good to work with for me and my situation. They were willing to work with me and give me information that I was in need of. I especially was grateful for the help of the person that took calls and directed me where I needed to go. I was impressed that a representative attended the HOA board meetings and clarified details of issues at hand. I felt they were honest and upfront with issues. They informed members of the HOA of things this that were concerns and were open. They did not sugar coat things and just say things that members wanted to hear. I felt hey layed it out as they saw it was now and down the road. I found that impressive

I've been trying to get a plumbing issue affecting my condo unit resolved for about 2 years now and HOA strategies has been difficult to work with. I hired my own plumber who verified the plumbing issue is not normal, not originating from my unit, and required further investigating. HOA strategies have dismissed me multiple times and have lacked timely follow up and communication through the owner portal. It is also difficult to get ahold of them via phone so I haven't been able to discuss this with anyone in real time. At one point they did hire a plumber to diagnose the problem, but the plumber never finished the job and afterwards HOA strategies dismissed my service request again without sufficient follow through.
**Update: at the time of the owners response below I had sent multiple messages over the last 5 months through the owners portal and info@hoastrategies requesting a response and have heard nothing back. I disagree with what the owner is suggesting below. The last time someone spoke to me in June they told me they would call the vendor to follow up and get back to me in a week. I'm still waiting for follow up.
***Update Sept 2024: we have now had problems with repeated water leakage into our unit which has caused pretty serious damage. We have continued to have a difficult time getting timely or helpful responses from HOA strategies regarding this issue. I would not recommend them.
Hi Kristen, we sincerely apologize for the delay in this reply--it took some time to verify our information. When last your manager spoke with you, the vendor that was provided found that there was inconclusive evidence of a leak, and there was no moisture detected in the walls. If there has been new evidence of a leak or water damage, we can absolutely assist in determining what the next steps are to resolve this issue. Please reach out to us at info@hoastrategies.com if that is something that needs to be discussed.

I put in a request for a new garbage can since mine was broken when we moved in. The HOA marked my service request as completed without ever contacting me. They put comments in my service request as this is the homeowners responsibility I reached out to Layton City and was told that The HOA where I live only the property manager can work through them to get a new garbage can.
When I called the HOA back, I was told that they’ve talked to me about this several times and they cannot get me a garbage can I need to call the city? They must have me confused. They have never once spoken to me about a garbage can.
I also put in a service request about You my cracked patio. When I looked in my HOA portal that service request is also marked as complete. It says that they had a Foundation Repair company out to fix the problem.
Well that never happened. The cracks in my patio have been getting worse all summer And I never heard from them about having someone come out to look at my patio. Not once. They are very shady. They pick and choose who to respond to and what they want to work on. We pay $350 in HOA fees a month for what??? I had broken sprinklers, all summer. The majority of my plants died and I just get to keep paying while they don’t take care of their service requests and responsibilities. They don’t even respond. Although they will try telling you they did. Yo

My HOA is really on the ball!!!
Had a problem with my sprinklers and within a week they had someone out!
Turned out to be a bigger problem, but kept me informed about it.
I'm really pleased and appreciative of their efforts!🤙
We really appreciate your patience and gratitude, Kimberly! Uncovering problems can be difficult, but working with your HOA and homeowners like you always makes the process much easier. Thanks for sharing your experience, and thank you for partnering with HOA Strategies!

I’m a tenant at the exchange community and my girlfriends daughter graduated and we reserved the main clubhouse but then had to move dates for the grad party due to her daughter getting sick. Only thing that was available for the rescheduled date was the secondary clubhouse. So we went ahead and booked for a full day there to give ample time to decorate. Long story short my girlfriend and I got pretty frustrated because the secondary clubhouse we thought we were renting out turned out to be part of a different community managed by a different HOA. Oh the tears and frustration because my girlfriend had already sent out the invites with the address that turns out it’s a whole different building and MUCH smaller. Wouldn’t be able to hold our party! Just a huge MESS! And we found this all out THE DAY BEFORE the graduation party was to commence! We both work and just figured we had the right building the first time around and planned decorations according to that building not to mention if you type in the secondary clubhouse address into Apple Maps or Google maps you won’t see a clubhouse! So it was ALL WONKY! Well, amongst all that craziness and confusion we were so upset! Edgar the guy who was originally helping us and he did try his very best and was so nice he was able to get us over to his manager I think his name was Spencer? We don’t really remember because we were pretty distraught while talking to him. Whoever he was HANDLED our situation amazingly! He went above and beyond and even texted us and confirmed the issue was able to be resolved! And he did this after his business hours! Not all hero’s wear capes I tell you! I hope you guys see this and know how much we appreciate you guys keeping your cool when we at times we’re being very emotional about the situation! Showed so much professionalism that and we appreciate you guys so much! Edgar and Spencer (or Austin) we forgot hopefully one of those names is right!
Hi, Ma! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. We're sorry for all of the trouble and confusion you faced before we got involved, but we're so happy that everything worked out for you and your loved ones! We'll make sure to share your gratitude with everyone you spoke with--Jason, Edgar, and Trever, so you were close! Happy we could help, and congratulations to your girlfriend's daughter on graduating!

I purchased a condo managed by HOA strategies in Bountiful in the Fall of 2023. There was a recent special assessment for my condo and HOA Strategies told me to get a stop-loss insurance policy to help cover the special assessment. No insurance company I have spoken with offers this. There has been little help with or communication from HOA Strategies on recommendations.
05/22/24 My gutter has holes and is leaking which is causing foundation damage. HOA Strategies has noted they aren't prioritizing gutters this year. This is kind of wild when they are putting money toward non-essential items such as pools. I have neighbors with sand bags against their unit to prevent flooding in their basement. I'm not sure if they have super expensive people doing yardwork, (14k landscaping and 17k irrigation in the annual budget for a small amount of grass) or how they are planning on 13k in asphalt, road, and parking areas. The hoa payment is $372, which is hurting property values. HOA strategies tries to claim the work they are doing increases property values, but it seems to benefit contractors and the management company more than anyone else. People are hesitant to buy a condo with a nearly $400 hoa payment. I hope to receive more guidance on insurance companies that provide a stop-loss policy. I also hope to not see increases in the HOA as other nearby HOAs catch-up to these costs.
5/30 HOA Strategies has been reasonable about communicating expectations with parking, issuing warnings and explanations before fines.
Hi Kason. This is a lot of information, so it may be best that we have a phone conversation to iron out some miscommunications--you can reach us directly at 385-988-0182. However, we want to acknowledge your frustration--the home buying process is complicated, and adding condo boards and community managers to the communications often adds unavoidable time between requests and deliveries of information. We pride ourselves in giving homeowners and prospective buyers self-service options to cut down on this time by using HomeWiseDocs, a platform that allows users to order documents as needed, and which our team provided to your agent upon request, although it sounds like your turnaround time may have been significantly tighter than standard. As for the condo board approving a special assessment, this information can be found in the governing documents provided prior to your closing. While not all community boards operate in this way, every community is different, and we strongly recommend thoroughly reading through those documents to determine any other differences between your new community and your old one. Regarding the assessment amount, we advise against comparing fees in that way, as no two communities are identical in needs or amenities (here's an article we have explaining that more in-depth: https://www.hoastrategies.com/articles/compare-hoa-assessments/). We recognize that this response only addresses a few of your concerns, so again, we're happy to discuss any remaining concerns you have. You can call us or send an email to info@hoastrategies.com.
