I spent a week in French immersion with Coralie at her home in Mondoubleau, and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, she created a warm, welcoming atmosphere where speaking French felt natural and enjoyable. We never ran out of things to talk about—whether we were relaxing at her home or exploring the town together. One of the highlights was a long canoe ride we took down a river with a couple of her friends. Sharing a canoe with Coralie gave us the perfect setting to talk about everything from the stunning scenery around us to life itself. It was both relaxing and enriching, and I’ll remember it for a long time. Over the course of the week, I felt my French improve noticeably—not just in vocabulary and structure, but in confidence, fluidity, and conversational reflex. Coralie has a real talent for encouraging natural conversation while making you feel completely at ease. I highly recommend a stay with her to anyone looking to improve their French in an immersive, friendly, and memorable way!

My partner and I are from New Zealand.We really enjoyed our stay with Coralie! We were very comfortable, and she was an excellent host. One of the highlights were the personalized French lessons as Coralie was patient and engaging. A wonderful area of France to explore that deserves more attention. The accommodation was lovely, welcoming and well-appointed. Every day we were spoiled with fresh French food and it made our experience truly authentic. Definitely recommended. A big shout out to Coralie !!!

Wow! What a wonderful week in Lyon I just had. Who needs a hotel or restaurant to visit Lyon? Hélène and Laurent provided me everything I could want: a private room and bath, daily in-depth French lessons, guided tours around the city, extraordinary cuisine each night, and a warm friendly atmosphere in their lovely two-story penthouse apartment. The experience was divine!

This was my first home stay Immersion experience. I chose La Liviniere as it seemed to offer an authentic experience, in an area not inundated with tourists. My week with Pierre mid-November exceeded those expectations. I was a bit nervous about how the week would go, but easily fell into a routine, and the week flew by quickly. First up was breakfast, then a French lesson from 0930-1230. The structured class part was actually very flexible and tailored to my needs. Pierre encouraged me to expand my vocabulary and to use tenses that I often avoid, and he reviewed expressions that are very common among native speakers. A home-cooked lunch followed, then an afternoon excursion. One afternoon was a hike around the village and vineyards, another was a drive to Minerve and walk around the village and the gorge, and the next was a drive to Lastours. A big storm prevented any outdoor activities one day, but we continued learning with Scrabble and other games. The week offered extensive opportunities to listen, learn and speak French. I hope to retain all the info, but know I would benefit from a repeat stay, as the area and Pierre have much to offer; a week was barely enough to scratch the surface! As far as logistics go, I did not have a car, but really didn’t need one as Pierre picked me up and dropped me off, and did the driving on the excursions. There is a bike available, but at the time of year I visited there was no daylight left to use it. There is currently one restaurant in village, as well as a small grocery store for dinner.

Bonjour! I stayed with Hélène (Ling’home Lyon) for one week at her vacation home in the Ardèche region, just south of Lyon. It was the most lovely week of my summer! Hélène is a kind and patient teacher as well as a wonderful host! I was a bit nervous going in to my stay knowing I would be speaking only French for a week, but in reality I had nothing to worry about. Hélène and Lolo were so wonderful and were always happy to repeat things for me or slow down so I could understand. I had 3 hours of French lessons each morning. Hélène provided wonderful learning resources and the topics we discussed were tailored to my French level. Her home in Ardèche is beautiful and I found it so peaceful in the French countryside. We went on several hikes and a bike ride to enjoy nature. I enjoyed 3 meals a day Hélène and she is a great cook. Everything was so fresh and delicious! I loved her sweet dog Kickass. She was so well behaved and the cutest sidekick to have around on our hikes/adventures. I am terrible at goodbyes as was in tears when my week ended as I had such a nice time learning and being a part of the family for a week. When we said goodbye at the train station I promised I would be back next year and I hope to schedule a trip soon. I truly can’t imagine a better immersion experience!

The week I spent with Coralie at C’est la Vie improved my French speaking confidence exponentially. Coralie is a warm, kind and interesting person who welcomed me into her home and life with meals with her friends all of whom made the effort to speak with me at my level. Coralie organized outings to castles and a climbing gym with friends in addition to securing a flight in a private plane to tour the area from the air, since I am a pilot. These interactions with local people gave me so many opportunities to converse in French all the while having Coralie beside me to help me when I faltered. C’est la Vie is located in a region of France where the people are warm and welcoming. The many years Coralie has been a French tutor/instructor make her the perfect guide for a language immersion experience. Her knowledge of many languages enables her to translate confusing phrases in a way that made me better understand the French people. Coralie makes conversations easy with a curiosity about many different subjects and a subtle way of correcting my mistakes which made me more adventurous with my French vocabulary. The itinerary was easy going making it easy to rest when my brain couldn’t hold any more info. I was able to explore on my own when I wanted and actually use the language which was important to me. I highly recommend an immersion stay with Coralie at C’est la Vie and hope to return. Thank you Coralie.

La semaine que j’ai passée à Lyon chez Hélène était vraiment magnifique! Comme un étudiant qui a parlé français depuis des années et qui a souvent voyagé en France, je n'étais pas sûr que les leçons me conviendraient vraiment. Heureusement, tout s'est parfaitement déroulé. Hélène a bien adapté les leçons aux mes besoins en se concentrant sur la compréhension orale, en m’aidant à clarifier les points de grammaire qui me posaient problème, et en soulignant mes mauvaises habitudes. Ce n’était qu’une semaine, mais elle m’a donné des ressources pour continuer à apprendre davantage une fois rentrée chez moi à Chicago. J’ajouterais également que j’ai reçu un accueil chaleureux avec de délicieux repas, dans une charmante famille, et dans un hébergement confortable. Nos visites dans la ville étaient très agréables. Par temps clair, nous avions une vue sur les Alpes depuis Fourvière ! Merci Hélène pour cette merveilleuse expérience !

This beautiful and serene Airbnb in Toulon feels like a cozy mountain retreat, yet it’s right on the Mediterranean! The home is comfortable, peaceful, and perfectly located with easy access to all the main attractions. The neighborhood is safe and welcoming, and the host is absolutely wonderful—friendly, accommodating, and attentive to every detail. She immersed me beautifully in French culture and language, which was truly exquisite and made my stay unforgettable. I came here with 51-year old high-school French, forgotten grammar and limited vocabulary. I left here able to learn about and discuss my interests - WWII, the stock market, sailing, swimming, puns and dumb jokes. Beatrice went above and beyond Teacher and Host. She introduced us to her friends with whom we shared a common interest, and tailored excursions to show us places to which we want to return, and to our energy levels. We will be back so she can teach my husband to speak French.

We spent a delightful, productive 5 days in early October chez Marion. We are two friends who studied French together in Paris 50 years ago. We went to Ouroux in order to "live French" once again and give our spoken French a much-needed shot in the arm. Our stay with Marion provided us exactly what we were looking for and so much more. Her cheerful warmth, friendliness and patience immediately made us comfortable. She clearly loves to teach and she explains both her language and culture with skill and ease. Each morning Marion supplied us with lengthy vocabulary sheets centered around themes of our choosing and peppered us with questions designed to nudge us toward speaking about ourselves, our lives, preferences and opinions. The pace was lively, moving from one activity to another so that by the end of the morning we had discussed, watched videos, played vocabulary games and laughed, all the while inching closer to speaking French comme une Française. Our reward for our efforts? A delicious lunch, whipped up by Marion as she guided our activities, using fresh ingredients from her garden and without measuring anything! She is a woman aux talents multiples! The immersion experience continued into the afternoons through our visits to the Château Cormatin and Abbaye de Cluny and we also opted for the full-day excursion to Beaune. Each outing took us along the winding country roads, through quiet villages and autumn-colored vineyards. Each outing was another opportunity to hear and speak French and sample another slice of French life. Our apartment--clean and comfortable--afforded plenty of space for the two of us. And what a lovely view of the peaceful fields and pastures surrounding Ouroux! The week sped by. As we boarded the train for Lyon, we were so grateful we had decided to step inside French life through this immersive experience. We feel decidedly fortunate to have found Marion. She has our highest recommendation! Janet & Pam

I recently completed a 5-day French immersion with Anne-Elizabeth and it exceeded my expectations! It was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! From the moment she picked me up at the airport, we spoke only French. And even though I was SO nervous at first, after having spent so many years out of practice, she was patient and kind and corrected me all along the way. She really helped to build my confidence in the language. Our morning lessons were centered around real conversation — sharing my story, discussing what I did during my free time. Through our conversations, she identified mistakes I was making and areas of improvement, and she corrected me in real time, and then built lessons around that. She’s a wonderful teacher. What really stood out was her warmth and hospitality. Lunches with her and her husband were so enjoyable, and she also took me around to show me parts of town. One day we went hiking, which was one of my favorite memories of the week! I arrived nervous, but I left with confidence and a much stronger grasp of the language. I’m very grateful for this experience and highly recommend it!!! Even if you’re nervous, or this is completely out of your comfort zone, do it! You won’t regret it!

The best week, with the best teacher, in the best place to immerse oneself in the French language. Pierre offers a warm welcome in his lovely traditional house. One feels instantly at home, especially with his excellent cuisine and delicious local wine. He is attentive and patient, able to gently correct one's mistakes without ever making you feel embarrassed. I can't recommend him highly enough. La Livinière, surrounded by vineyards, is breathtakingly beautiful, with many excellent walks nearby. Further afield, Minerve and the Minervois are a delight to explore with Pierre, whose knowledge of the region's history, culture, geography and natural habitats is exceptional. If it weren't for three-hour intensive French immersion classes each morning, I'd have thought I was on holiday!

At the beautiful property Bernice, you are hosted by congenial Béatrice, who is also an effective and encouraging teacher of French language. I just finished my second French language immersion course there, 2.5 years after the first. My ability in French has come a long way, in large part thanks to regular online lessons with Béatrice. It was wonderful to see her again in person and to experience together some of the culture and history of beautiful Provence. My program was tailored to my interests, a highlight being an all-day trip to the Aubagne region made famous by director and author Marcel Pagnol. Béatrice, who speaks perfect English, helped my wife (a non-student) feel very much at home. Together we enjoyed a wonderful "study-cation" in La Garde.

I recently spent an immersion week with Marion in the beautiful Beaujolais region, with the aim of improving my rusty intermediate level spoken french. My husband, a non-participant, joined me. While I took morning lessons he relaxed and explored. Marion’s home cooked midday meals, with local wines of course, were deliciously fresh and healthy. Accommodating gluten intolerance was no problem at all. We enjoyed Marion's warmth and humour each day. Our walks, market visit and day trip to Lyon were educative and memorable. With Marion’s encouragement and support I realised I had achieved my aim of improving my confidence in french. In the following two weeks travelling I was confident enough to chat a little with shopkeepers, serveurs and market stall owners. I even had a lively chat about modern parenting with a young family on a train. Entièrement en français! Merci beaucoup Marion. Anne
