Excellent company, they installed a Generac generator, and it went very smoothly. Efficient and clean. JHACS did some other troubleshooting for me and fixed it up just fine. They have become my go to electricians.

I was frustrated using a local generator company in Port Washington this year. After waiting several weeks to get a quote to upgrade my generator with no response, I decided to find another company. I found JHACS. They responded right away. I asked them if they could beat a price if I got alternative quotes like getting a generator from Coscto. They said they would. I found out Costco uses an installation company in Suffolk. I spoke with them but they gave me a very high estimate for installation. JHACS were very responsive and I preferred much more local company in case of an emergency. I accepted the quote and they gave me. JHACS gave me an estimated install date once they received the new generator. They inspected the new generator Generac had sent them. JHACS found damage so they sent it back to the company to get a new one. That delayed the install by 3 weeks. In terms of timeline, I got a quote first week of October and an installation first week of December. The annual service contract from JHACS is approx. $100 more than the local generator company but they visit twice per year instead of one. So far very happy with their customer service and quality of their work. I would recommend them to my neighbors.

Love that there is someone answering the phone to listen to exactly what I needed to have done. Back in December around the holidays they understood the importance and had someone come over within hours. This month, just needed an outlet change for my AC and they were able to accommodate me the next day! Great news, one of the same guys was working! The consistency is great.

They sold me a generator at a cost of over $9,300 and they NOT mentioned the possible cost that is needed to replace my gas lines. When I went to sell my home the plumbing permit was still open. I contacted Chris at JHACS Electric who is the person who sold the generator but was never available to speak with me or return my call. Today the cost is an additional $6,500 to clear the permit. The additional amount came from National Grid $4,000 and another plumber to finish the job $2500.
Buyers be aware. I called many times your office to help me with the issue but Chris was never available or returned the call. You know exactly what you guys do. All you care is to sell and make your money.
Hello,
Thank you for your comment.
Due to the lack of detail it will be difficult to address your comment and offer a specific retort but I will do my best.
As we have always done, our generator installations include everything we can reasonably anticipate besides permit fees with a particular town or village and National Grid meter upgrades. National Grid meter upgrades are not included in the generator installation contract for three reasons:
1. Only National Grid is authorized to perform this work. The meter is physically upgraded by National Grid themselves, not a member of our company or our sub-contractors.
2. There is no cost for a meter upgrade.
3. If a gas meter upgrade cannot be completed, National Grid will notify the homeowner/business owner directly to go over pricing to upgrade the existing gas service so to accommodate the meter size requested.
When a client decides to move forward with a generator installation we are always very transparent about possible out of pocket expenses besides the permit fee. Some of these are: gas leaks on existing natural gas lines in the home/business, faulty or compromised circuit breakers, the installation of protective concrete bollards around the generator and/or natural gas meter and gas service upgrades sometimes required by National Grid to accommodate the new gas demand the generator requires.
Again, due to the lack of details in your comment and username it is difficult to tell what specifically happened in your scenario and why a meter/service upgrade wasn't competed in the first place. I did not receive any messages from my team regarding something like you are describing. I'm sorry for your negative experience.
I agree, buyers should be aware about any possible unexpected costs when it comes to a generator installation and this is something we always try and emphasize and make clear to our clients.

If I could I would give them minus five starts. It's terrible and dishonest company. Stay away from them!
I ordered my generator to be serviced annually by them. They arrived serviced the thing, run battery test (said it was still in working condition) and left. I paid for that $450. Two days later testing light went from green to yellow. They came reset it. Two weeks later generator stopped working. They said the battery needs to be changed (the quoted me price for that) I agreed. They changed the battery and charged me again for the full generator service (the one they did two weeks earlier) not for the labor cost for battery change as agreed upon before their arrival. So another bill was over $500. On the top of that they told me that there is a leak in my generator that needs to be fixed because it's going to explode - and the cost is another $500!!!
There was no leak two weeks earlier and they checked the thing 3 times within past two weeks ! the question is they didn't see it or they caused it? I paid them for the service and everything was fine but they are the type of company that is causing not solving problems and constantly creates work for themselves... STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
Hello there,
Thank you for reaching out.
We do not have a record of working for someone with your name but I will do my best to respond with the scenario that you described.
We did have a recent client who wanted a generator service. We performed said service and during the appointment recommended that the battery be replaced. The client declined. We made sure to put this in writing and had the client sign the work order. A few weeks later the client called again and said the unit was not working. Sure enough, the battery had to be replaced. Since we now had to make a special trip, open the generator, test and replace the battery, clean and coat the battery terminals and test the generator operation for an issue we could have remedied during our initial visit - we had to charge for another service. This client also had an issue with an oil breather leak (minor leak) which we again recommended a replacement which would remedy the issue. This issue will not cause the unit to explode.
Finally, we certainly are not looking to create work for ourselves. Our goal is to operate as efficiently as possible. In this way we can address the needs of our current clients while also being able to take on new clients and projects. Obviously however, we are all human and mistakes inevitably happen which sometimes leads to extra work; work which is our problem and not passed on to our clients. If we create a problem we will own up to it and fix it. It is not an accident that we have been in business 30+ years and have a large and loyal client base. Honesty is the only policy.
I hope this helps clear things up.

They did exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would do it and with the highest degree of expertise and professionalism. Their pricing was very fair and their guidance was excellent. All of the electricians they sent to my home were polite, courteous and considerate. I will use them for all of my electrical needs in the future and will recommend them without reservation to my family, friend and neighbors!
Thank you!

Chris and his family do a fantastic job start to finish. With covid things were harder than typical yet they still did right by us. Sold and installed a 20K generator with whole home auto transfer switch. Never again will we lose power. They handled all the permits and coordinating with other contractors.

We used this company to install our Genrac generator. From the ordering of the generator , getting the necessary town paperwork , and installation this company has been on top of it all . All work was done neatly and quite quickly . I’m so happy to have the peace of mind that if the power goes out , we now will indeed have a power source that we can count on ! ! Thank You so much !

My Generac generator worked fine for 7 years. JHACS took over the maintenance contract in April and then the storm hit this week and the generator didn’t work. They sent two guys over who spent an hour looking at it (and poring over large bound manuals which did not inspire confidence) and then left. 2 other guys came the next day, spent half an hour and then told me it needed a new stator (which would have to be ordered and takes a whole day to install). The office suggested I might want to just buy a new generator! I emailed them asking for cost to fix the one I have and how long it would take and they replied “ When I have a minute to breathe I will provide an estimate“. Generac told me to get a second opinion when I told them what JHACS said about the stator needing replacement.
I cancelled my maintenance contract with them now and they won’t even give me a pro-rated refund of the annual fee.
