I just finished my phenomenal walking tour of Zagreb with Alex from Limitless Balkans. It was highly informative, very interesting, and a lot of fun. Alex knows so much about the history of Croatia and the Balkans, and this tour was a great introduction to this region. Alex also has great recommendations on restaurants, museums, shopping, and much more. I highly recommend Limitless Balkans for a memorable experience -- you will not be disappointed!

We did a 12-day itinerary in Croatia and Slovenia with Limitless Balkan during the first two weeks of December. Our preference was a partial guided tour package to accommodate leisure days on our own for 2 persons.
From the time we contacted Limitless Balkan, Aleksandar was prompt to reply and find out our needs such as preferred mode of travel, travel interests, dietary requirements, must-see attractions and etc, before giving us a detailed quote. This was definitely a plus factor which allowed us to plan our travel according to the way we like. Our trip comprised a mixture of guided tours and leisure days for self-exploration which covered nature, hiking, history, cultural and sightseeing.
For accomodations, we arranged ourselves. Depending on preference and needs, Limitless Balkan is able to help recommend and/or book the hotels for their clients.
Alex coordinated our travel seamlessly in the following ways: airport transfers, personally drove us on some days, arranged experienced and knowledgeable tour guides for city walking tours, arranged reliable drivers, made purchases for attractions' tickets, took us on a 2-hour hike at Plitvice Lakes, doubled as our photographer and provided recommendations on attractions and food during our leisure days.
A hands-on and thoughtful person, Alex placed bottles of drinking water in the car, at the start of each day whenever we travelled with him. On days when we made long drives and did not stop for lunch, he also placed light snacks such as nuts, fruits and chips so that we do not go hungry.
I would also like to commend on the professionalism of the city tour guides - Mario, Milos and Marina under Limitless Balkan. They are friendly, genuine, generous in sharing their knowledge with us and definitely very proud of the cities they represent.
With minimum planning, we were able to experience Croatia and Slovenia in the best way possible with Limitless Balkan, making it a great winter travel. My favourite places would be Lake Bled and Skocjan Caves in Slovenia; and Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. And yes, travelling in winter is a good choice with less tourists and hence without the crowd in the background while taking photos! Also with the decorated Christmas markets and lights, there is the joyous holiday mood and festive spirit.
Thank you, Alex and team for the safe and fuss-free journey, which has left us wonderful memories!

Excellent walking tour with a touch of luxury
Great tailored walking tour with an amazing tour guide. Alex was incredibly patient and always try to give bounty of explanation for every corners of the City Of Zagreb. He ensures that all of the places that you want to see is met. Very knowledgeable in terms of the city and country’s history, from the old town to the opera buildings and cathedral, to the parliament and famous Zagreb landmarks that makes your tour more exciting. You’ll be driven in a luxury Mercedes Benz car that adds comfort and ease during the tour. He even gave me a parting gift at the end of the tour which is nice liquor and a chocolate bar that I didn’t expect to receive. Alex is amazing and I’m highly recommending and must book here again when I visit Croatia soon.

Our group of 5 had a wonderful day trip to Lake Plitvice. Mario was our guide and he was attentive, patient and very knowledgeable. Formerly from Dubrovnik, we had a good conversation on Croatia ranging from post war history of Yugoslavia, football and Games of Thrones. Would strongly recommend BLKN ESCAPES AND Mario to anyone who wished to have fantastic experiences in beautiful Croatia.
Hi Mun,
Thank you for your wonderful review!
I’m so glad to hear that your group had a fantastic day at Plitvice Lakes with Mario. He’s a gem—always attentive, patient, and full of great insights, whether about Croatia’s history, football, or even Game of Thrones!
If you ever plan to explore more of beautiful Croatia, we’d be more than happy to create more amazing experiences for you.
Best,
Aleksandar

Excellent tour company and guide from Zagreb to Plitvice for a day trip
This recommendation is long overdue. Last May I toured Croatia with friends and wanted to visit Plitvice which was not on their itinerary. I found Limitless Balkans/BLKN Escapes through an Internet search, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The owner, Aleksandar Vucin, was responsive and helpful in a way I’ve only met in the best of private tour companies – for example, I sent him an email with questions and a few moments later my telephone rang on my computer! He answered every question and more with the perfect American English I later heard elsewhere in Croatia. He arranged for my travel to and from the Zagreb airport and recommended hotels, not to upsell, but to be super helpful when I asked. His colleague Karlo Kaputsa was my guide. As an older solo female traveler, I’ve hired private guides on occasion and Karlos knew exactly how to allay any concerns one might have over spending a day with a stranger. He not only drove me to/from the park but walked it with me and pointed out some features I would have missed. Best yet, he was a fun and altogether wonderful travel companion -- it was like traveling with an old friend who educated me on the country and the sites but also veered into conversation you’d have with a BFF. (Example: Who was the best Star Trek captain ever? Picard of course!!)If your travel plans include the Balkans this spring, then my advice is to work with them. I cannot recommend Limitless Balkans and these two fellows highly enough.

Once it was decided that we were traveling to Croatia in pursuit of waterfalls, a couple of family members contacted Aleksandar at BLKN Escapes earlier this year to inquire about a tour. This was a first time visit to Croatia for ⅔ of our group, so Alex put together a few different itineraries based on our preferences. After some more emails and thorough discussions, we decided on a custom 15 day tour of Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro!
We started our tour in Zagreb and Alex was there to pick us up at the airport in a super clean Mercedes van. He had already stashed it with water bottles for each of us and also gave us a detailed spiral-bound printout of our itinerary with our planned activities for the next 2 weeks. We kicked off the trip with an evening tour of Zagreb and as luck would have it, we arrived during a spell of rainy weather. I didn’t pack an umbrella but, fortunately, Alex just happened to have sturdy BLKN Escapes umbrellas for the walking tour - yay!
We saw so many cities and sights and were always on the go, which I loved! Essentially, an epic Balkans road trip. For many of the cities, Alex arranged a walking tour with a local guide, who were all very knowledgeable and engaging. Alex also guided a few of the walking tours and there were a few self-guided ones as well, which was a nice mix. There were a couple of built in free days where we found ourselves asking, “where’s Alex?!”
While the entire trip was a highlight, my favorites were Vintgar gorge, Plitvice National Park, Krka National Park, and Durmitor National Park. The previous days (lucky) rain storms had reinvigorated the falls at Veliki Slap (Plitvice), which were truly amazing! I also really enjoyed both the private seafood experience and wine tasting w/charcuterie board. I feel we only scratched the surface on Croatian wines- that deserves a separate trip in itself!
Probably one of the best reasons to go through BLKN Escapes, is because Alex does all the driving. He is familiar with the roads, knows all the scenic photo spots (he ended up taking a lot of great shots for us), and knows which border crossings are least busy. We didn’t ever have to worry about traffic, getting lost, or figuring out where to park. This allowed us to just relax and enjoy the amazing scenery.
Some friends who recently traveled to Croatia mentioned there are lots of stairs and uneven walking surfaces and to be prepared to assist carrying luggage. But no worries because Alex had that covered too, so feel free to buy all the heavy things (olive oil, wine, limestone bricks, etc).
There were a couple of times during the trip in which we finished a tour early. Instead of following the itinerary to a T, Alex would add in an extra stop that wasn’t planned so we could see another town or sight. If we had opted to do this trip ourselves, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t have done the same unless we got lost!
Throughout the entire trip, Alex was very communicative too on where to meet. On the days that we weren’t with him, he was always very responsive on WhatsApp and texting us restaurant suggestions and other useful links. He was also super thoughtful and introduced us to some Croatian sweets, food, and drinks. This felt really personalized and I don’t think we would have received the same experience had we gone with a typical tour company. Alex is extremely personable and turned out to be quite the jokester too, which was entertaining! He is more than happy to answer all (even the mundane) questions about Croatia and the Balkans.
In summary, Alex did all the heavy lifting on this trip, literally and figuratively, so we could enjoy the tour and make the best family memories! He even picked us up at 3:45 am to take us to the airport, which is real dedication, lol. We started the trip as strangers but by the end of the trip, it felt like Alex was part of our family, showing us around! I really hope to return one day and meet up again. Hvala, Alex!!
Hey Steph,
Biggest thank you for incredible review! Your words brought back wonderful memories of our 15-day private tour across Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
I’m so glad the custom itinerary, extra stops, and little touches made your trip everything you hoped for—and more!
It was an absolute pleasure sharing the beauty, culture, and hidden gems of the Balkans with you.
From breathtaking waterfalls to wine tastings and scenic drives, I’m thrilled you could fully relax and enjoy while I handled the “heavy lifting.”
It truly felt like I was traveling with friends—and that’s the best part of what I do.
Once again, thank you for choosing BLKN escapes DMC for your adventure.
Till next time.
Best,
Aleksandar

Unforgettable Trip To Croatia And The Balkans
I was not involved with the planning, but reap the reward. Our two family members did all the leg work and contacted BLKN Escapes with the wishlist and travel time.Kudos to Aleksandar V. of BLKN Escapes who communicated with them and created our private 15-day journey with sites to the natural wonders of Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro. I’m in awe with the beauty of the 4 National Parks we visited and the unique landmarks of the towns.Aleksandar was our driver/general tour guide throughout our journey and arranged private walking tours with local guides who grew up in the towns sharing their knowledge of history/culture. The guides were informative, friendly, courteous and punctual. We traveled in a Mercedes minivan with the comfort of AC, chargers for your devices and a playlist for our entertainment. Aleksandar takes pride in the upkeep of the van and it was always spotless the next morning even when we tracked in mud from our prior nature tours. On the road, Aleksandar often threw out a list of restaurants and was able to secure a reservation from the van which made it very convenient for our hungry group. I remember Aleksandar gave me his purchased banana when the hotel ran out, now that’s a FRIEND!BLKN Escapes deserves MORE than 5-Stars thanks to Aleksandar!

Amazing trip to the Balkans with Limitless Balkan
Our group of six used Limitless Balkan for our October 2024 tour of of Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Aleksandar was our tour coordinator, general guide and driver throughout our 15 day tour. For specific city tours, Aleksandar set up local experts for each location, and I have to say, they were all excellent.I read a number of the reviews by people/groups who used Limitless Balkan prior to my trip. I agree with everyone's comments about how great their trip was and that Limitless Balkan (Aleksandar) is a great travel agency. I couldn't agree more with these 5 Star reviews. We looked at and contacted a number of tour agencies (large and small). We found Limitless Balkan (Aleksandar) on Tripadvisor and contacted them. Aleksandar responded quickly and suggested a video conference to discuss and refine our plans. During the video conference, he made quite a few suggestions on sights and cities to see and the daily itinerary to make it more time efficient. We found Aleksandar to be very knowledgeable and seem to have a lot of experience (this was confirmed throughout our tour), and very important to us, we felt very comfortable with him. Our group preferred to see natural scenery (national parks, waterfalls, gorges, mountains, etc.), but also wanted to see some ancient structures/wonders. While we didn't mind seeing a few churches and museums, they were not our preference. Aleksandar designed an itinerary that was perfect for us.. While we did visit a few of the more popular old churches and museums, the time we spent at these sights were up to us. If you are interested in churches and museums, I'm sure Aleksandar can design an itinerary to fit your preferences. That is the beauty of going with Limitless Balkan. The tour itself was amazing and the whole trip was seamless. All the sights were breathtaking. This was my third trip to Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro, but first to Slovenia. I had been to Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, etc., so it was very nice to see some of the parks and small cities too. We visited Plitvice and Krka National Parks for the waterfalls and easy hiking/walks. One interesting stop in Croatia was the Ston area which is world famous for it's oysters. Most of us said we were not that enamored with raw oysters or mussels (cooked), but Ston oysters and mussels were so tasty, we ate everything. Slovenia's scenery is beautiful and reminded me of Switzerland, very green and lots of mountains. Lake Bled, Solteska Vintgar Gorge and Predjama Castle were amazing. Montenegro's Durmitor National Park is beautiful with it's mountainous landscape. We saw many other spectacular sights, but too numerous to list here. What makes any trip even more incredible are the people you interact with, including your tour coordinator/guide/driver, city tour guides, etc. For our trip, Aleksandar was incredible. He was very organized, suggested many of the sights and stops on our itinerary, booked us in very nice hotels, made restaurant suggestions for meals, made us feel comfortable/safe, and it felt like he was one of the family. He provided a lot of information about the places we visited, kept us entertained with great conversation, lots of laughs joking about many things, and an excellent choice of music during the drives between locations.Everyone in our group felt that this was one our most enjoyable trips among many we have made around the world. Aleksandar and his crew of guides are some of the best I've ever experienced. I would highly recommend Limitless Balkan (Aleksandar) should you decide to visit the Balkans.

2 week Limitless Balkan private tour
We (family of 6) began planning a 2-week trip to Croatia at the beginning of the 2024. We wanted to travel in October. We looked at the tours of several major tour companies, but we did not find one that met our requirements. Either the groups were too large or they did not have an itinerary that was satisfactory for us. So, we decided that we would try a local, private tour company. We were a little apprehensive about this, because all we knew about the firms were what we saw in their reviews. We made our decision based on their ratings review and by comparing some of the standard itineraries listed on their websites. We contacted 3 firms, one of which was Balkan Unlimited. They were the only company to respond to our inquiry. Aleksander, the owner of the company, suggested that we have a video meeting to talk and discuss our plans with him. During the meeting we had a chance to explain what we wanted to see and the time frame we had in mind. He listened and made suggestions, then told us he would get back to us with a prospective itinerary. The video meeting helped us feel more at ease with our decision to use a local tour group. Having a chance to meet and see him made it much better than just dealing with an impersonal website. The tour was excellent. From our discussion, Aleksander created an itinerary that exceeded our expectations. We visited Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Croatia. Aleksander, was with us during the entire tour. He was our driver and he handled all the day to day logistics, so the tour went off without a hitch. The local tour guides were all very friendly, knowledgeable and spoke English very well. We learned a lot about the history of the region and about the current local culture. We visited 4 national parks to see some of the natural scenic wonders of the area. We were able to experience a wide variety of food and drinks from the recommendations given by Aleksander and the local guides. The local oyster food experience in Ston is not to be missed.I would not hesitate to recommend Aleksander and Limitless Balkan if you are planning to visit Croatia and the Balkans area. You can tell, when you spend time with him, how much he enjoys his job and his pride in his country. After 2 weeks with Aleksander, he was not just a tour guide, but a good friend as well.
