It was our first visit to Magpie Cottages and won't be our last......from booking to the moment we left Liz & Ian were so approachable and accommodating, couldn't do enough for us and all round great people. The onsite food 'peppers' made by Liz son Will was exceptional, fantastic Asian inspired food and hot breakfast delivered fresh every morning! The accommodation, spa, location, walks were outstanding and Liz was always on hand if you had any queries on where to go for walks etc. The most beautiful and peaceful setting, yes its a working farm/Livery but don't be put off it's a small oasis of paradise with the most beautiful of surroundings. The spa.....wow! large got tub, infra red sauna and steam room with very comfortable seating made everything just perfect Highly recommended! We will be back!

Lovely place. Great value for money with the spa access. Breakfast service nice and friendly too.

Liz was wonderful, really helpful from start to finish with excellent communication. The cottage is in a beautiful location where we were able to experience some gorgeous walks. We made good use of the spa and all in all just had a brilliant time away! We would definitely stay again!

had an amazing time, came from Glasgow to this little hidden gem. was a great few days, kids loved every minute. from the horses to the chickens and all the friendly staff, we felt very welcomed and at home. Will be back many more times as magpie Cottages feels home from home and didn't want to leave.all facilities were clean and very well looked after. thank you liz and Ian and all the staff.

As good as the photos but even better. It feels like you are deep in the Peak District, while still being on the edge of Manchester. Was a true experience to be in a working stables, and feel part of it.

Really enjoyed my stay at Liz’s. Beautiful surroundings to enjoy country walks. The spa was really relaxing with treatments booked separately, I had an excellent massage. The welcome gift of the homemade loaf and jam was very much appreciated. Thank you.

Location is nice and space was great for us. Food from on site chef- awesome! Overall- lovely.

Liz was a great host, very friendly and quick to respond when contacted. Her service alone made it a very enjoyable stay and we would highly recommend the wide range of services the booking provides.

Well what can i say, Liz was so lovely, showed us around on arrival, explained all activities and left freshly made bread butter and jam (delicious) . The on site chef asian inspired food was on another level, so tasty and all home made from scratch defo would recomend x the spa facility was fantastic x large hot tub, steam room, and colour sauna( which unfortunatly was out of action) but didnt effect the relaxed atmosphere. We had 2 hour time slot every day it also had a chill area which we used for quite reading time. Soooo peacefull and relaxing. Long dog walks right from the cottage within walking distance to dog friendly pubs with fantastic menus and lovely food. We got to stroke the lovely horses and my son had a riding lesson with a experienced coach, he loved it xx and to top it off we had use of a washer and dryer which was around 3 metres from our room (very handy when raining). We cant thank Liz and family enough. Will definatly return next year. Amazing place xxxx

We had a lovely stay here with our two dogs. The aprtment was dog friendly, hard floors throughout and even had a welcome pack with food bowls, poop bags and a couple of treats! ❤️🐾 The property was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.We were right by the river, which was well received by our girls 🐾 as we had a sudden heat wave! The location was great, you could walk to the local shop and pubs which were about 20/30min walk. The spa facilities were great, especially after a day of hiking through the beautiful countryside! Thank you for a great stay, we will definitely be back again next year!

I needed a peaceful, holistic, stress free solo break and I'm so glad I came here! Liz (the host) was absolutely lovely! She was so kind, helpful and very quick in communicating with me. She even went as far as kindly offering to pick me up from the station as I was travelling via train. The onsite Spa was amazing and I loved how each cottage had a private time slot each day included as part of their stay. There is also an onsite masseuse called Lisa. I booked 4 treatments with her and she was fantastic! I look forward to booking another stay soon! Thanks so much Liz.
