Mercari supports Fake sellers and Fake items Mercari use to be a good site to sell on, I sell authentic fear of god essentials products and it was a pretty good experience for a while. But now Mercari lets sellers who set up fake sites to sell fake items claiming the are legit for far far less than what the cost to but from the legitment company. Myself and many, many, many other people have complained to Mercari about the fake fear of god items being sold and Mercari has done absolutly nothing to stop this practice from continuing. so much for their prohibited items policy. So if you are a legitment seller with authentic items for sell then Mercari is not a site for you because you will not be able to sell your items without taking a huge loss.

Precious Metals (gold & silver) Against Policy My silver coin listings on the Mercari app were removed for being a “Prohibited Item”. “Precious metals”, in accordance with their policy. I find this highly discriminatory because they are not removing the other THOUSANDS of silver and gold content listings on their app (like jewelry, coins, etc). HOW ON EARTH CAN THEY ALLOW THOUSANDS TO POST THE SAME STUFF AND ONLY REMOVE MINE (and a few select others)? I think their “policy” is a bunch of crap when it comes to this category. Every other site I know of allows this category, so people naturally presume that they do to. That’s why they HAVE THOUSANDS OF LISTINGS in this category. But to selectively enforce their “policy” is a ridiculous abomination! Either they need to figure out a way to do it across the board, or SIT BACK AND LET IT HAPPEN (or change the policy). These items aren’t hurting anybody and besides, do they have ANY IDEA of the HUGE amount of transactions they’re collecting fees from? That’s why they don’t really want to fix it. Cause if they did, it would’ve been fixed a long time ago. From the programming side of things it’s not difficult, unless they just have an inadequate IT department. It’s all about THE BENJAMINS SILVER AND GOLD SELLERS GENERATE FOR THEIR COMPANY! That’s why it stays the way it is. Our sales bring in BIG DOLLARS, and that’s a fact. If their company doesn’t like it THAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! But in the mean time LEAVE MY STUFF, and others in this category, ALONE AND PUT MY LISTINGS BACK UNTIL THEY DO! I think they should reinstate my listings until they can fairly enforce their policies (which they’re either incapable of or don’t want to do, cause look at all the listings … are they crazy!). IT’S NOT FAIR! Not even close. They apparently just want be hard on their “policy” without regard to the fairness to their users. Just goes to prove that for some reason they care more about their policy being a POLICY and THE MONEY THESE LISTINGS BRING IN than their sellers being happy.

Company does not follow their own policies and does not have the customers best interest in mind. I have been a member over Mercari for several years and have generally been a satisfied user until recently. In my last 3 purchases over the last month and a half I have had issues with two of them that their customer service has been inept at addressing. For the first of the two orders that had issues my item arrived damaged i immediately reached out to Mercari about this but they failed to respond within the 72 hour window they provide buyers to report and handle an issue. I was seeking a partial refund as the order had been a set and most of the set had been alright. But they failed to respond and I had to bring PayPals customer support in before they even attempted to rectify the issue. The second order I had an issue with involved a seller that I was unaware was using a stock image. Mercari does not allow the use of just stock images per their own policies. When I submitted a request to return the item they denied my request and did not allow me to rate that seller to warn others about this sellers practices that breaks Mercari’s own policies. Mercari customer support, while more responsive than the first transaction I had issue with, has been less than helpful. I have asked them five separate times to explain how a listing using stock photos which they don’t allow is consider “as described” and they have failed each and every time asked to answer that question. I will no longer be selling or shopping on Mercari and I would advise any who continue to use their services to beware as they don’t have their customers best interests in mind and go against their own policies.

Breach of Contract By Mercari Mercari denied my payout for a Kate Spade wallet sold on their platform on July 3, 2024, for $55. I dropped off the package at my local post office on July 6, 2024. Due to a USPS error, the package was not scanned immediately and was subsequently lost. As a result, the buyer cancelled the order on July 18, 2024, due to the delay. However, on August 6, 2024, the package was scanned at a location an hour away from where I originally dropped it off, and on August 12, 2024, the buyer contacted me to confirm that the item had been delivered. Mercari has denied my request for a payout, claiming that I shipped the item after the order was cancelled. This is incorrect and impossible, as I shipped the item well before the cancellation date. According to Mercari's own policy, a seller should receive payment if the transaction was cancelled by Mercari or the buyer, the seller confirms they shipped the item by hitting "confirm" on Mercari, and the seller has not been reimbursed through Mercari shipping protection. My case meets all of these criteria. The delay in scanning and delivery was due to an error by USPS, which was beyond my control. The tracking information showing a scan on August 6 does not reflect the actual shipping date, but rather when USPS found and scanned the lost package. Mercari refusing to provide me with a payment is a Breach of Contract.

poor service, poor buyers, poor product Unable to make returns, unable to leave reviews for a seller. Seller didn't return messages, waited days and then mailed the item anyway as I was frantically trying to cancel. First and only experience with this company. And 100% the last. Lesson learned.

First purchase was a scam First purchase was a scam. I even tried cancelling it almost immediately after but they refused, and forced me to wait for the seller to decided whether to cancel it or not. Of course they didn't. And they went ahead and shipped my camera. I mean Pokemon card. Right, very similar so easy to get confused with the two.

Zero buyer protection with Mercari Mercari does not protect buyers. My purchase came as an empty envelope that was supposed to contain a blouse. The seller did not properly seal the envelope and the item was either lost (or stolen) during shipment from Hawaii to California. I contacted the seller and Mercari right away, sent pictures of the empty envelope (seems ridiculous but the only “proof” I had), and reached out to Mercari several times to try to resolve. I even spoke to my mail carrier and he said that was how he delivered the envelope so I know the blouse was not stolen from my mailbox. Mercari ultimately paid the seller and will not be giving me a refund. Mercari also rated the seller on my behalf which allows them to close the sale in my account so now I have no recourse. Very shady operation.

REPORT THEM I purchased an item. The seller had three business days to ship it. Mercari sent me several messages stating that if the items tracking information was not updated within seven days of me making the order, then I would be eligible for a refund and cancellation of the order. I messaged them at the end of that seven days with screenshots, showing them what they said to me, and when they said that I would be eligible for a refund. They then proceeded to tell me that I actually needed to wait 15 days and to just ignore all of the messages that I received from them saying that I would be eligible for a refund after seven days. They then proceeded to call me the wrong name, kept copying and pasting the same message within emails, and kept ignoring my question which was “why is it that you continue to send me and other customers messages stating that tracking information is not available with a week we can get refunded when in actuality your policy is that we actually need to wait 15 days?” They never answered this question. Instead, they thanked me for being willing to wait on the order to arrive. After getting the runaround, I disputed with my bank and I am looking into making a BBB complaint as well. Now that Mercari has so many eyes on it after dropping seller fees down, they will want to have good press. They will not want BBB coverage of their scamming policies. Please report them.

Beware of buying from this site as returning will be impossible. Beware of buying from this site as returning an item will be impossible. I bought a backgammon set, when arrived I noticed that there was a large mark on one outer side and the actual inside field was peeling. When asked for a return they asked so many irrelevant questions and images that was evident that they did not want to approve the return. For example they asked for the images of the box that arrived which had nothing to do with the condition of the game box, or images of places that had no damage. They never addressed the fact that the images sent showed existing damage when they declined a measly $40.00 game set. Will NEVER buy from this site regardless of the price.

DO NOT BUY on MERCARI I bought a perfume from Mercari. The item arrived in 15 days. I am using this same perfume for last 6 years. Once, I opened it and try it, I knew that it was FAKE. I reported on Mercari Customer service and this is the answer I got. They wrote that they have no way to check it, it is my job to provide proof that it is FAKE. Ridiculous. I cannot believe that They asked me to get a third party VERIFICATION that the perfume is FAKE. I have no idea who verify these perfumes. Also, they should have asked seller to provide the proof that the perfume is genuine. It seemed that at Mercari, the customer is always wrong. I have not experienced such a bad customer service any place/ Online retailer ever. The worst company and garbage customer service. DO NOT BUY on Mercari.

Mercari scam worst site to sell through Sent a gold ring to a woman, upon receiving it she asked to return it, which is automatic. I get the return package with an empty ring box. They automatically took her side. Have gone back and forth with them and they wont give me any kind of compensation and avoid answering my question as to how to avoid this from happening again. Seller protection is BS. I sell thousands of dollars with them a year and have excellent scores on Mercari and on 5 other sites. They will lose more money than what the ring was worth. Im done with them.

Collectors cards are unbelievably overpriced Speaking only on sports cards, buy far the least educated sellers. The prices are 3-4 times that of eBay, PWCC, etc. mercari needs to ban most of them
