My mom has been with Extended Family Assisted Living for quite some time and it's comforting knowing that she is treated well in a very nice place that she can call home. The staff is consistent and they know her needs. I appreciate the kindness and patience it takes for a difficult time of life.
After a really difficult experience at a larger facility, moving my husband to Extended Family Home has been the biggest blessing. He has dementia and is a fall risk, and I was constantly worried before. Now, I can finally sleep at night knowing he is in a safe, loving place where people truly care about him.
From the moment you walk in, you feel like you are in a real home. Everyone is warm, attentive, and patient. Marta, the owner, is hands-on every day and truly leads with her heart. Vicki, the home manager, is wonderful and always knows what is going on. Dani, the cook, makes amazing food—and my husband, who is very picky, is eating more than he has in a long time. That alone says so much.
I’m beyond grateful for the compassion, safety, and consistency they have given us. The peace of mind I feel now is priceless.
Moving my dad into care was one of the most emotional decisions we have ever made, especially after a very difficult and painful experience at a larger facility. We were nervous, protective, and unsure what would happen next.
From the minute we walked into Extended Family Home, everything changed.
The atmosphere is exactly what the name says, a home. You can feel it the second you open the door. There is warmth in the walls, light in the way people interact, and a true sense of family that is impossible to fake. It is not clinical or sterile. It is calm, beautiful, organized, and full of quiet dignity and love.
Marta, the owner, is someone who lives and breathes compassion. You can tell this is her calling. She is involved in every detail, every day, and you feel her presence in every thoughtful system and interaction. From our first conversation, she asked me detailed and specific questions, not just to check boxes, but to truly understand my dad, his needs, his rhythms, and what was ahead. That was the first sign we were in a completely different kind of place.
My dad has dementia and is a high fall risk, and at his previous facility, care was rushed, inconsistent, and frightening. At Extended Family Home, we were stunned from day one that he was letting them help him shower, guide him to the bathroom, and care for him so willingly. That was because they had patience, time, compassion, and most importantly, the right strategies for working with memory care residents. The difference was immediate and profound.
A couple weeks in, there was a scary moment when my dad’s blood sugar dropped to a dangerous level. The way the team responded, calm, professional, intelligent, and proactive, is something I will never forget. They managed the situation so well, and I truly believe that if he had still been at his old facility, the outcome could have been much worse. They were mindful of his schedule, his habits, and his medical needs from the start, and I am grateful every day that they were there when he needed them most. They may have saved his life.
Vicki, the home manager, is one of the warmest people I have ever met. She knows every detail and every person in that home, and you can feel her heart in how she leads the day to day care. You feel safe when she is around, and even more importantly, so does your loved one.
And then there is Dani, the cook, who brings just as much joy as she does nourishment. When I came to interview, she was dancing with one of the residents who loves music. That moment told me everything. This is a home where people are not just taken care of, they are seen, loved, and connected with in meaningful ways.
The staff has been there for years. There is no turnover, which is rare and speaks volumes about the environment Marta has created, not just for the residents, but for her employees. That kind of stability creates real trust and consistency for people with dementia, and we saw the results right away.
Choosing care for a loved one is the most important decision you can make. We did not know how much better things could be until we found this home. Extended Family Home has brought peace, safety, dignity, and compassion back into our dad’s life, and ours too. We are so grateful to have found them and we cannot recommend them enough.
My 88 year old mother had a fall, and was denied rehab. I was desperate to find a place for her, and was fortunate enough to find a bed with Marta and her crew. They provided excellent care and showed professionalism during her 9 months stay. I highly recommend them.

Thank you, Jim. It's always an honor being able to help neighbors with their loved ones.
My mom, who is recovering from lymphoma and six months of chemotherapy, had been in and out of the hospital four times in just eight weeks and spent time in a skilled nursing facility before being discharged to Extended Family West on hospice care. At the time, she was barely eating, refusing medications, and had lost all motivation to participate in physical therapy.
Since arriving at Extended Family West, it’s like a light switch has flipped. She is now eating, taking her medications, getting up to move, and overall is more cooperative and motivated than we’ve seen in months. The care and attention she receives here is exceptional. The staff truly care—for her and for us, her family. Their communication is amazing—I’m updated regularly and always feel in the loop, which gives me peace of mind.
The environment is warm, supportive, and feels like family. I truly believe that the level of personal care and compassion she’s receiving here is making a world of difference in her opportunity for recovery. We are so grateful to have found Extended Family West.

My musical folk group loves to come and play here. The staff is so kind to the residents and accommodating to us. There is a peaceful feeling in the home which we enjoy and try to add to as we sing with the residents and play music for them.

Thank you Cathy and folk group, the residents truly enjoy each visit.
I moved my dad there and was very pleased with the care he received. All of the caregivers treated my dad with kindness and made sure all his needs were met. They were all professional in their dealings with my dad. I would recommend them to anyone needing to place a loved one in this facility. A very top shelf facility and would not think twice if I needed to do this again. My sincerest thanks to all who helped with my dad. Natha Smith

Thank you!
We were looking for a long term care facility for my mother, who has late stage dementia and needed a high level of care. I spoke to Marta several times on the phone. She was very helpful and kind. She even helped me find an in-home caregiver. Marta invited me to drop by and visit her 2 homes on Hermosa Vista. Both homes were very clean and well kept. The staff were friendly and attentive. All the patients looked well-cared for and happy. I would have every confidence in placing my loved one in their care.

Niki, thank you for the wonderful review. We appreciate your time.
Sharing this review for a friend who was cared for at Extended Family Home.
If you are ever in need of round the clock support while healing from an injury/surgery; or for a loved one whose health is failing and cannot be alone, please consider Extended Family Homes. This lovely group home can provide assisted living care in a large ADA home setting.
This home is LOVELY in every way and the staff there are top notch! They are kind, patient, and very skilled in caring for a person needing their support. Having rehabbed with them for almost 30 days, I have seen them at all times around the clock and have witnessed their consistency in caring.
Whether 12:00 AM or 12:00 PM they are approachable, and intent on doing their best, moment by moment. They welcome suggestions and are open to the concerns of the family who love the resident.
There is never a doubt as to the sincerity of everyone who labors under this roof. The teamwork and cheerfulness so apparent is rooted in kindness and respect.
Thank you Marta and all the staff for the amazing care.

Thank you Deb for posting for her. I appreciate your time and thank you for choosing us to take care of your loved ones. Always here to help, Marta.
If you are viewing this post, you need to look no further. Extended family assisted-living is the best decision that we made for my mother. She lived there 13 years and was very happy. The employees become a part of your family. They’re kind, compassionate, skilled, and very loving. I was familiar with other group poems as my sister also needed help. Nothing compares to this place it’s clean. It’s got a beautiful backyard where residents can sit on the patio and management is wonderful. although my mother has passed I know these people will always be a part of my extended family.

Thank you Susan, it truly was an honor taking care of Anita for 13 years.
Extended family home was the best place. Very clean. They were very kind. They were very attentive to my mother. They were very accessible in location and accommodating with our needs. Feelings of gratitude towards those who do the special work of caregiving. I met the owners one time, and would consider them friends now. Very kind employees. Thankful that we found them.

Thank you for letting us take care of your mother and then honoring us again with your mother-in-law. The staff loved working with them and you.
Our mother has been a resident at Extended Family Home-West since February, 2020. She has expressed many times that she feels safe and at home there. She receives attentive care from all the Staff and they have become an extended family to her. She especially enjoys sitting outside in the beautiful backyard. She also enjoys the good food and sharing meals around the family table with the other residents. As her children we are grateful for the ongoing compassionate service that she receives.
I wanted to Thank Marta and the Staff at Extended Family Home-West for providing my Mom with a clean, safe and friendly home. It is difficult for us to not be able to come inside and spend time with her and give her a hug. But we are so thankful to the warm and wonderful staff for keeping her safe in this difficult and sad time. Bless You!

Thank you Marge, I can't believe in April she has been with us for 10 years! Once COVID is over we are having a party!!
The home is clean and inviting. The staff is kind and they do their jobs well. I was allowed to come in for a few days after placing my family member, but the Corona Virus shut the visitations down. I did not find any activities happening to engage the amazing patients each day when I was there. I think it would be even more important at this time when no visitors are allowed. I am allowed to call and speak to her. The staff will also bring her to a window. They give her a phone that I can call and speak to her outside the home. It is a trying time for all.Staff is good. It is my prayer that the owners, staff, patients, and family members can all get through this with an awesome outcome. I am grateful to all who are part of my mothers care. Thank you.

The atmosphere at Extended Family is a true family environment. Marta and her staff are AMAZING with not only my father but all other residents of their homes.
