I bought two Mobal SIM cards for a trip to Japan late last year ( 2023 ). They had both data and a Japanese telephone number. The latter is particularly convenient if you are travelling with someone else - very easy to get lost in the big Japanese department stores. The SIMS were mailed to me very quickly before I left from Australia, and worked really well. Happy camper. And even better that some of Mobal's profits support a charity.

I used Mobal's services with a chip for a month and a half while I was traveling in Japan. It worked very well. Mobile data and phone calls.

This company was a lifesaving answer. I'd gone to Japan for a six month employment stint and had planned to just get a SIM card since I already had a phone. My Japanese boss took me to a phone store and I researched several others. All of them either wanted me to get a new phone, lock me into a contract, or spend roughly an hour filling out paperwork. (Japanese companies love paperwork and a lot of it takes over an hour to complete.) Add to that the zero English tech support if something went wrong and I was ready to scream in frustration. Then I found Mobal. I was very hesitant at first, but the simplicity, contract free, English support, and plans that fit exactly what I wanted persuaded me to take a leap. I'm so glad I did. Mobal came through on everything. It was easy to apply for the SIM, they mailed it straight to my address, the directions to set up my SIM and online account were clear, everything was in English. When I did cancel because I left the country, it was hassle free. All I had to do was log in and cancel my subscription. There were no annoying follow up emails, hidden fees, withholding funds, or extra charges. As for the service, the coverage area is great. While I called very few people, my service and data coverage worked everywhere I traveled around the country. Mobal was a good experience for me. I recommend this company and the services.

Please be advised that iPhone handsets will only allow one APN profile to be installed at a time and so each time you switch between alternative service providers, you may be required to remove the current APN profile and reinstall the necessary APN profile settings for the new service. This restriction is specific to iPhone handsets and is out of our control unfortunately but we do of course apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused!

Service worked great everywhere I went in Japan. Pickup at Narita airport was super easy and the instructions provided were clear. Only drawback was that a took a while for it to activate on the first day. For this I contacted their customer service through email and they responded so quickly! Problems were solved on my first day and I had a great time using this everywhere I went!

The signup process was very easy and the pocket wifi was quickly delivered to my home address. Purchased for use in my vehicle to access Netflix, Disney Plus, Youtube and other streaming media. Works perfectly, even when place in my center console it still connects to internet. Also cost was much cheaper and connection better than when I was using my iphone as a hotspot.

eSim was convenient to purchase online and worked like a treat the whole time we were in Japan. A little technical to set up, but the instructions were clear.

Mobal kann ich jedem Japan Touristen empfehlen. Ich benutzte den Dienst nun schon drei mal und war meistens sehr zufrieden. Ein Tipp: solltest du eine physische SIM Karten bestellen, unbedingt nachhause senden lassen. Brauchte fast eine Stunde am Flughafen KIX bis ich die Karte bekam. Japanische Bürokratie ist nicht zu unterschätzen. Karte kommt relativ schnell ( 1 - 2 Wochen) und kann dann sofort in Japan eingesetzt werden. Werde auch weiterhin bei meinen Japan Reisen auf Mobal setzen.

I have never posted a one star review before but I am so shocked by this service. Customer service is only via email and takes a minimum of three days. As a Japan resident, I was looking for a portable longer term WiFi service that I could use month by month and chose Mobal from a Tokyo Cheapo article. While the unit arrived quickly, my 100GB of data was exhausted within two weeks (100GB lasts me over a month generally). Once the ‘fast data’ was exhausted, the speed was so slow that nothing could load. This left me unable to work online and in a rural area. Very disappointing. I’m sorry that visitors to Japan are also having this experience.

Absolutely terrible. I have issues with my ID, I´m leaving for Japan in two weeks and I still don´t have my SIM card, there is 0 customer service! Beware! I have now sent an email to their support team, waiting for an answer.
