Be careful if you have a Gluten Allergy. We were told confidently the chips were cross contaminated. She warned us. We thanked her and did not order them. She confidently told us that the elote was 100% GF. It came out, I ate half of it and realized it had corn chips all over it. I was so nervous. We asked her about it and she came back and didn’t acknowledge anything and said, “nope they are fine!” I stopped eating them but it was really scary.
Also, if I’m honest, the food also just kind of sucks. No real flavor, all the meat tacos are dry and overcooked. My partner is not GF and said it was the same for him. That said, the vibes are cute and the drinks are good. My reco? Come here for drinks and go anywhere else for dinner.

Huge thanks for your feedback. Tonight was the first night with elote on the menu which is perhaps why my team member wasn’t quite as sure as normal on that front. However the elote is 100% gluten free as you were told. We use different coeliac friendly corn chips for this dish which have not been in the contaminated fryer. Apologies for the misunderstanding, I’ll chat to our server about what we could have done better.
We take dietary requirements incredibly seriously and given our tortillas are made in house from corn, Paloma is exceptionally gluten free friendly so I’m disappointed to hear you wasn’t looked after properly.

I do love mexican food, and it can be hard to find quality food, but this restaurant outdid itself. The service was lovely, we sat outside, on a sunny summer evening, not too loud, happy hour was $15 classic margys and Paloma's and both were real good.
We ordered the share menu (it was only the two of us) for around $50 per person, and was very generous.
True, I am a girl, but I am rolling out of here, so full. My favourite were the tacos, Ive never really like corn taco bread, but this place smashed it out of the park. I'm sad we don't live nearby, although I am happy too cos I'd be broke and fat as mud of i did.

Service is great, the food was great and the happy hour drinks were full strength 😂 All round great.
My wife and I had the $49 a person share plates and were full and satisfied with everything. Highly recommend 👍👍

Food was good, with fresh fish and tasty vegetables: the ceviche was great as well as the fried polenta. The tacos selection was well-assorted but some of them (the fish one) a bit tasteless. We had one mocktail which was really tasty too. The lady at the entrance wasn’t a ray of sunshine. The restaurant is quite cozy with cool colors and an amazing liquors wall.

Service & kwaliteit van het eten was top! We hadden een menu genomen waarbij je een voorgerecht, hoofdgerecht, toetje en 2 taco’s deelt. Was erg lekker & perfect om zo samen te delen. Wel werd het snel achter elkaar geserveerd maar ontzettend lekker en super vriendelijke service.

What a find. A delicious meal served by lovely friendly helpful staff. Go early for the happy hour. The menu is very diverse to suit most tastes. The patas bravas were the best. The sharing meal is fantastic and allows for lots of different tastes. The restaurant is hidden away, so you don't get constant passing strollers walking past. And is sheltered from any wind. Try it!

What an amazing place. They managed to squeeze us in for dinner for two at the last minute and were happy enough to find us an outside table. Staff were friendly, informative and helpful from the start with information of cocktails and preferences on food choices when we asked.
Cocktails and food tasted amazing! Shout out to Carlos the taco chef for staying later and allowing us to taste extra tacos!
Overall a fantastic evening! Would 100% recommend!

We loved everything about our dinner from the location, service, food and cocktails. Our server was gorgeous and took excellent care of us. We had the salmon ceviche, lamb quesadilla and one of each taco to share. All the food was fantastic but the ceviche, fish taco and cauliflower taco were our favourites. We were there during happy hour and had multiple cocktails. Again all were delicious. Everything was top quality. We ended with the churros which were fresh and tasty.
Well done to everyone on staff. Thank you for a very memorable dinner in beautiful NZ.

Really good experience. The food was cooked to perfection.
We tried the mushroom, fish and cauliflower tacos. The fish as a main dish and two desserts. And everything was made with high quality ingredients and cooked with expertise.

Possibly the best dinner I've had in Wānaka to date! We were a group of four who ordered from the $49 per person set menu (which meant we could sample most of the dishes). Everything was delicious, particularly the mushroom taco, fish of the day and the Basque cheesecake.

We had a fantastic dinner here. The menu is a mix of both Mexican and Spanish influences, leaning toward a modern take on Mexican. The tacos were all delicious, but personal favs were chicken and beef cheek. The mushroom was a close third. Would recommend starting with the lamb quesadilla (it’s not large by any means but two of us split it as a starter and it was great).
The restaurant itself has a nice patio, good background music, and a modern, minimalist design - someone put some good thought into this place. Check it out - you won’t regret it.
Only downside - paying for the bill was excruciating as we waited for servers to recreate individual bills for a large table that was splitting their total bill. If bills can’t be automatically or easily split, don’t allow large tables to do this.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a sensational meal here on Christmas Eve. The quality of the food and service were both excellent, and the decor was very tasteful too!
The experience was on a par with the best Mexican restaurants you’ll find globally.

Paloma is nacho-average Mexican restaurant—it’s absolutely amazing! We went in expecting good food and left completely blown away. The polenta fries were great, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, and the tacos? Easily some of the best we’ve ever had.
The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We’ll definitely be back for more. Five stars all the way!
Also, the margaritas are delicious! I just finished my eight! Thye use some vrery tastyyy Tequilas

Best meal in Wanaka!
Absolutely delicious! This restaurant was suggested by our Airbnb host as the best Mexican food and it was incredible! Casual dining with many outdoor tables, excellent cocktails and a happy hour until 6pm! We had the chips/guacamole, lamb quesadilla (delicious) and salmon ceviche as starters. All excellent! Loved the coconut/pineapple margarita! Many vegan options and handmade tortillas! Excellent!
