I first dealt with Select in 2011 when they introduced me to my ex-wife. Sadly my marriage ended a few years ago, so when I felt ready contacting them again seemed the obvious choice. Unfortunately after singing their praises to my friends for 10 years, my experience this time hasn't been as positive. I've been on the Classic membership for 18 months now, during which time only 4 of my matches has wanted to meet me, including only 1 in the first 6 months. My last match gave me some insight as to why this is; she joined in 2017 but I was the first person she agreed to meet, which suggests that at this level Select just have a list of random people that signed up in the past, but which they never follow up on or review to ensure their members are still current. You don't get any feedback if you're turned down so it's hard to do anything to improve your chances. It's currently been 3 months since I last heard from them. When I finally asked why I wasn't having any success I got a 1 line email back saying my profile looked OK, and did I want to adjust my search criteria. Given I'd already left these as open as possible I'm not sure what I could change, and they didn't offer any advice. In the end I reached out to Alex directly who did find me someone who did actually want to meet. Select clearly isn't a scam; I've spoken to Alex at weekends and late at night, and had one match on a Sunday. They also wrote my profile for me for free which is a service they usually charge for, however that didn't do anything to improve my chances so I couldn't say it's a service worth paying for. On top of poor communication they also don't take criticism well. Last time I left a bad review I got a letter from a "Mr Patterson" threatening legal action if I didn't take it down, which I think is quite revealing regarding their attitude to their clients. This is a standard letter they send to everyone who complains, which you can safely ignore as the right to free speech, including leaving negative reviews is protected under UK law. Interestingly if you email Select with a general query it takes them a day or two to respond, whereas if you leave a bad review you'll be hearing from Mr P within a couple of hours, so it's obvious which they're most bothered about. Ultimately I can't give Select 1 star as it did work 12 years ago, but that was a different time when dating was fun rather than an ordeal, or maybe I just got lucky. At least they've shown me I don't have many options in today's dating world, so I don't need to spend any more time and effort on it.

I cannot thank Select Personal Introductions enough for helping me find a genuinely honest and kind man. We've been on two holidays together, met each other's families and all my friends love him. I couldn't be happier. If you're looking for a personal and professional dating agency then you should try Select. I would never have met my soulmate without them.

I found the people at Select really helpful and proactive. I felt that they genuinely paid attention to the type of person I am and the sort of person I was looking for. I have had some really good introductions and enjoyed the experience.

Great service, I was able to meet them at their office in person. There was always someone on the other end of the phone to help me whenever I wasn't sure about anything and they even helped to arrange my dates when I got busy with work. I'm incredibly impressed with the service I've received and feel it's been money well spent. I've even recommended a couple of friends who are having a good experience too.

Absolutely worth the investment! I had been single for over 5 years and had tried lots of different dating apps, and had been ghosted and messed around every single time. I am now, thanks to Select, in a happy relationship with somebody that I am delighted to share my life with. I would absolutely recommend Select to anyone looking for that special someone!

So happy I joined Select. Everyone I've spoken to has been tremendously helpful and professional. I paid about £1000 and later added a personally curated bio and some coaching. Glad I did, the bio went in to a lot of detail and I think without it I would have struggled to make a great impression. As luck has it, I've been introduced to a true gentleman who treated me to lunch on our first date. We've since been on several dates and walked our dogs together last weekend. If you're thinking of joining a dating service, I would look no further than Select, they're experts.

He is lovely! I appreciate his thoughtfulness and friendly manner. We had some great walks with the 2 dogs (who get on extremely well!). There have been many texts and few calls, and we are going on our 5th date this evening. We have so much in common, and he only lives 5 miles away; surprised we have not bumped into each other before. Thanks for all your help.

I'm new to the whole matchmaking process, and I know you've had to hold my hand a bit, but meeting Shaun has been such an enjoyable and best experience of my life. He's so nice, and we have great conversations. Our first date went so well that we didn't want to say goodbye, so we went for a walk together and chatted for hours. We've been on 8 dates, and I think we're pretty serious about each other, so I'd like to thank the team for introducing me to someone very special.

Thank you to everyone at Select; you have given me such great advice over the last few months. If it had not been for you, I would not have met Jackie; she's amazing. We both make each other laugh, and we genuinely want to settle down together. I have to say that everyone I have spoken with at select has been so helpful and understanding. Initially , I was happy with the way the idea was presented to me . Unfortunately the process was extremely slow, I only had 2 prospective matches on the cards after 3 weeks . I wasn’t able to view pictures until after I sent more money , whether I wanted to meet them or not . I wasn’t allowed any form of refund . . All I got was an email from a Mr Patterson telling me no refund even though I had paid in full . Very disappointed

I wish I had seen honest reviews before I signed up and I don't want others to lose their money as I did. I had a conversation with Alex at the beginning and things felt very positive and I came away very happy. As soon as I handed over my money, things changed. Radio silence bar some generic emails about what to say on your date, etc. I didn't receive a match for months and when I emailed, they sent one straight over wasn't appropriate. When I turned this down, I never heard again. After months, I emailed stating I would like a refund as they had taken many hundred of pounds of my money and not fulfilled their obligations. I was told this wasn't possible and commented that I did not accept the single match they sent. I haven't received a single email from them since and I have lost over £500. I hope others don't make the mistake and lose the money that I did. It could be argued this company clearly prey on what is a vulnerability for some. Note: if you look at most of their 5 star reviews, most have two posts, with a generic 5 star review about a another company just before.

So far the experience has been good. Alex has recently matched me with someone I really clicked with. I was very impressed with how well matched we were from what we’d discussed in the initial interview so I would say the calibre and accuracy of matching is of a high standard and a good reason to go with select vs. dating sites.

Fantastic service. I wasted so much time on dating sites. I hadn't realised there were dating agencies offline, so I did quite a lot of research on this before I joined. I liked the fact they were regulated, had 20 years experience and based locally rather than travelling hundreds of miles across the UK to meet people. I paid about £700 to join, not bad considering as I had paid about £80 for one month on one of the big dating sites. Met Maxine from Select at the Manchester Office (before Covid-19) and she put me at ease straight away. Explained everything clearly before joining. I was surprised at how much ID they wanted to see, but they have been extremely confidential. Met some amazing ladies, but was blown away when they introduced me to Karen. She is an incredible woman. I don't know if we would have ever met with her coming from different social circles. Being smarter than me, she didn't waste her time on dating app's. As a dating service they have been awesome. Offered a lot of support and advice. If you are reading this because you are serious about trying to find someone to complete your life I would recommend giving them a call. That's how it started for me.

Quite simply an expensive waste of time with absolutely no customer service once they have you £800 joining fee. Credit card companies cannot help you recover costs for non delivery of service because the agreement (which quite rightly I signed not my finest moment) is so wooley and loose it leaves you without a leg to stand on. Just think if you are finding dating hard on websites with pictures and write ups, imagine how difficult it is with these guys with no pictures and a one liner - if you're lucky! Stay away, save your money is the best advice that can be given!

Exceptional service all through my membership. I joined Select after having my fill of dating sites. When I met Andy I was unsure about meeting again. I had a number of long chats with Max and she advised me to meet for a second time. I did and we haven't looked back. Really enjoyed being able to talk things through with someone.

Really happy I joined Select. Very nervous and a little sceptical about the whole 'matchmaker' thing at the begining. They have been really helpful and informative throughtout. Never tried to hard sell, which I seemed to get from another company. They have put together some really nice matches for me and given me good advice, when going through some feedback from people I have met. I feel in very safe hands. Met a couple of non-starters, but doing way better tha I did online - what a nightmare that was. I'm enjoying the experience and would definitely recommend this dating service.

This is a great company. I joined Select a few months ago. I was invited to a face to face meeting and because they have offices all over the Northwest I was able to choose where to meet them, which really helped because I travel a lot with work. Everyone I have spoken with at Select has been professional and friendly. When I got my first match I wasn't sure where to meet up so I gave then a call and they suggested a number of places to meet and sent me details too, which was very helpful. I think their matching is absolutely spot on. You can pause your membership which I have done because I want to keep seeing one of the ladies I have met. Things seem to be going really well. A great service.
