I described my concerns with an existing system to the dispatcher. I then scheduled an appointment. The day of the appointment arrives and the technician says the problem is out of his scope. He needs to get further guidance from his office. He left without doing anything but promised Modern Air would reach out to me to discuss. That was four days ago. I am out several hours of work and they never bothered to contact me.

This was the second time I used Modern Air - and once again, it was awesome! Billy was able to diagnose the issue with my heater and order the appropriate part. At both the diagnosis and installation appointments, he took the time to explain exactly what happened and what needed to be done to fix it. Modern Air is definitely on my list for any future HVAC issues.

On time, very helpful, honest and respectful. They even had shoe covers when entering the house. My heater was turning on for only a few minutes and then shuts off. They quickly diagnosed the issue and fixed it. They also did other checks to ensure the system was operating per manufacturer spec's. Overall very satisfied and I will be calling them back when I need my heat pump installed. Keep up the great work! Thank you!

Billy was very informative, and you can tell he's passionate about the business. He explained our options and pricing for improving air flow and didn't push the most expensive one. Day of installation, the Modern Air guys were extremely friendly, respectful, and professional. They got the job done quickly and are working proactively to address an unexpected issue. Would use them again and would recommend to a friend.

Update: We've been round and round with Modern Air over the installation of furnace and AC. Lots of changes, including having to swap out a new furnace for one only a couple of months old due to complex substances formed by common exhaust routing with WH. Don't ask. Anyway, they didn't always bring good news, but the did what they had to, ad we got it settled. However, the thermostat with the new furnace, though a Honeywell, had fonts just too small to read, especially at night, even though my eyes are good. It was too easy to hit some obscure program that fouled up everything. It was so complicated it took very little to change everything to chaos. A year after install I called Modern Air and asked to buy a different thermostat with larger numerals. Seth said he would give us a new one at no charge, and sent Billy out with two for us ot choose from. He put in it—simple, no programs, like we wanted, and larger font—in two minutes. He also changed out air filter at the same time—no charge. All HVAC companies sell pretty much the same thing, but Modern Air had such high ratings, even though they are 50 miles away I decided to go with them. Lots of unavoidable hassles, but they still managed to get her quickly and their staff is very helpful. I chose them because of customer service rating, and would do it again. They made an unpleasant situation as pleasant as possible, and at a fair price. -Can you give me a bit more information? I'm have not been at the site, but would like to know: What brand and model did I buy? Why is this information not on the invoice—which came very quickly, but with very little specifics. —You are replacing one you put in less than a year ago because of problems with a shared hot water heater vent. (No idea why that was a problem. You saw it and never suggested it might be.) --Does the new three year warranty on service start right now, since it was installed just today? --Does this have any effect on the Trane AC you installed earlier? --What level of High Eff. is it--90%, 95%- ? --Is HE more expensive to repair than 80%? --Which is more reliable? I could not be there and deal with this directly, but due to family needs we spend much time in Daly City. But it is disappointing when you installed everything less than a year ago, and now you say my system was the problem all the time. Why didn't you see it then? If this one has problems, how do I know it will not be "my" fault in the future? Everyone at Modern has been pleasant, and I truly appreciate that. Thank you. I know you don't like return calls; believe me, when we are freezing we sure don't want to have to make them. But the outcome is disappointing. I think for sure the error that caused all the problems should have been seen by your crew beforehand--for sure. How many of these have you installed? Thousands? Mine is nothing unique. I simply cannot afford such surprises, nor do I think I should have had to pay so much for this exchange. But my wife and I are both in our 80s; we're very old and very cold and feel trapped over a barrel. Norm Smith

Billy was here at 8:15 diagnosed problem with the furnace. Repaired the furnace and restored normal operation. did an excellent job and left at 9:15.

Billy is a genius! He solved a huge issue that I couldn't get anyone else to fix, and I contacted over a dozen HVAC companies—all the top-rated on Yelp. There were so many I had to make a spreadsheet to keep track. So happy our AC is finally fully functional. I had a 20 year old 3-zone carrier system in a 3 floor townhouse with oddly or improperly wired dampers. Billy really is brilliant. Very impressed. I work in commercial facilities management and I can tell you Billy is a keeper.

I first called Modern Air a few years ago, my furnace stopped working in the middle of a heat wave. They came out diagnosed and resolved what turned out to be a rather complicated issue in a timely manner. I was impressed with the professional and caring attitude of the service technicians. Since then, Billy has been back to do various minor repairs and system checkups. Modern Air is a Five Star company, honest, fair pricing, responsive with fantastic customer service.
