Hi Lavina, Thanks for the feedback. In an effort to maintain transparency I posted the receipts here ---> imgur.com/a/3kdwIDk Lavina (not sure why her name is Ayana on Yelp) reached out to me and asked for an estimate for two nights of boarding. I charge based on my time which isn't necessarily related to "nights" as I also offer daycare. I relayed my rate which is $60/24hr and Lavina seemed to agree with that estimate. Later when she signed up I noticed that she indicated on her form she wanted an additional day of care. I always put together a quote once I determine the dates and times for service. Unlike an estimate which is based rough dates, a quote is based on exact times and dates and it doesn't change (as long as the times/dates don't change). Lavina went over the quote and emailed me in an accusatory manner where she mentioned "unprecedented surprise" costs. I explained that I charge based on time. More time = more cost. This is why the quote is so important. Lavina at this point seemed to agree saying via text, "Yeah, the quote makes sense. How about the first time discount? Lol" Of course I found this hilarious because it was clear she was looking for a discount before outright asking for a discount. She was testing boundaries to see how much money she could shave off the quote. Still, I do offer a new customer discount and there is absolutely no shame in asking for it! I adjusted the quote to reflect the discount for Lavina. Again, Lavina seemed to agree with the overall quote including the discount and at this point attempted to move forward and schedule a screening. Why would she want to schedule a screening if she didn't agree with the quote? There seems to be a discrepancy there between her attempt to move forward and book Zuri and her review. Anyway, I was in the process of scheduling the screening - mandatory for any new dogs that would like to join the pack. This gives me a chance to make sure all dogs that join will be well socialized and the rest of my pack will be safe. She seemed reluctant to meet for the screening. This is a red flag for me. Typically pet parents who avoid the screening have dogs they believe will not pass. On top of that, she went on to describe her dog as a "sweet dog" and requested an additional discount... In my experience doing this over a decade if a person approaches my business in this way, trying to avoid costs, asking for discount upon discount before we've even met let alone complete the screening it's a huge red flag. I have found that my best pet parents are those that treat me as a partner in the care for their pets - who value my service and are willing to pay more than what I charge as a reflection of their value. When people like Lavina who I've never even met in person attempt to negotiate and lower my rates, implying my service is not worth what I'm charging... it's gonna be a no for me, dawg. Like any business, I reserve the right to refuse service. I believe the hundred-plus five-star reviews speak for themselves. I prefer to partner with pet parents who value my service because they value their pets. Take care and thanks for giving me the opportunity to clap back publicly Lavina! I appreciate it
