Lovely Sunday lunch 😋 Delicious Sunday lunch and great service. The views from the restaurant are lovely, we had a nice table next to the window. The food arrived quite quickly, the Yorkshire puddings were huge and we were given an extra jug of gravy. Highly recommend.

No staff presence dirty room no real ales After reading various reviews and seeing the pictures of the rooms I chose to book here. I paid extra for an executive suite with a garden view. Which we didn’t get. We were given a ground floor self contained basic flat. The fridge was broken and not working the furniture was a miss match and broken and worn. The carpet was stained all over and there were dirty smear marks on cupboards on arrival. The bedroom had four bedside tables but no dressing table. We thought we would have a drink in the pub, no real ale available these were all off awaiting a delivery only thing on draft was larger. Had a drink then thought go back and chill in room instead. The tv had three channels to watch. Throughout the night there was a constant pipe nocking noise that kept us awake. On check out there was no one there to talk to so we just left the key on reception desk. Check in was brisk with no real information given about anything other than just wanting payment, there didn’t seem enough staff What should have been a special weekend away had the shine well and truely taken off it.

Do not stay if you value a peaceful stay with good customer service Having spent 9 months living happily at Travelodge Scotch Corner we were looking for a change. We are up to 6 drivers who want somewhere to park one coach each night. Having enjoyed a fabulous meal we decided to try the George, just two of us, this weekend. It is a long time since we have stayed in such a poor hotel - and we live away from home, in budget hotels, for weeks on end. We were given rooms 103 & 104, right above the bar. The music from the bar pounded through the ceiling & the walls were so thin I could hear the conversation of the people in the room above me (although my colleague did not hear this). The main problem happened on Friday evening after last orders. Either a lock in or private party was going on right beneath our rooms. Both of us were kept awake until the small hours. When we complained the following evening there was no compassion. The dreadful woman who we spoke to said that she had stayed in room 106 that night and heard ‘loud conversation’ from my room, room 103. Well that is odd as I was on my own, didn’t even had the television on and spent the entire evening trying to work with headphones playing white noise to escape the rowdy behaviour downstairs. Also that day we complained that the rooms had not been serviced and we were told that was because we hadn’t put ‘please service my room’ hangers on the door well IF YOU DONT TELL PEOPLE TO DO THIS HOW DOBTHEY KNOW & surely everyone wants their room servicing if they don’t put do not disturb hangers on their door. Accepting that we were dealing with a woman who was obviously having a bad day and should never be employed in hospitality, we both meekly asked for replacement tea bags - when we explained that we were in separate rooms so please could we possibly have so more the sighing & eye rolling convinced me that I would never stay here again. What a dreadful experience! We now both have to drive the length of the country after two nights of minimal sleep. Your staff are a disgrace! If you see my other reviews you will see that the vast majority are glowing. This is a difficult sector and we are happy to support local businesses. This hotel could be amazing. The rooms are pleasant if a little dated and the breakfast was lovely. If your priority is sleeping though please AVOID AVOID AVOID
