Great way to shop second hand!
I love Thred Up! I have nothing but great things to say about them. Thred Up is a fabulous way to purchase second hand clothes and they make it so easy. Right now I am obsessed with Anthropologie’s The Colette pants. Thred Up has made it the easiest thing for me to find. I simply saved a search for them in my size and now whenever they have some, I get an email about them to look at. One of my favourite features is the item quality label. Thrifting items online can often be a challenge because the seller may omit certain issues or aspects in the item but I never have to worry about that with Thred Up because every item is inspected and given a label. They also measure the items and list them so you know if it will fit, especially since women’s sizing can have so much variety. AND they’re always having sales on top of sales. My only complaint is the shipping charge. It’s like $11 to ship items so ordering just one item takes the price up a bit BUT I usually purchase a few items at a time. You can’t go wrong with Thred Up!

SCAM
*Zero Stars: Deceptive, Unprofessional, and Exploitative - Avoid at All Costs*
I'm writing this review as a warning to others: stay far, far away from ThredUp SELLING YOUR ITEMS. My experience with this company was an unmitigated disaster, marked by deceit, incompetence, and a blatant disregard for ethical business practices.
I have picture proof of what I'be send in and in what condition. Customer service claims a pair of designer shoes to be fake and another pair to have been excessively worn when they're were in fact new.
Items supposedly disposed of so no way of getting them back!
I suspect them to be listed at a later date for their benefit without getting my (already ridiculously low) cut!
What a great SCAM/FRAUD they created with no accountability or repercussions!

RIP OFF
Ordered a purse from thredUp which was described to be in "excellent" condition. When I received the purse, not only were there several loose threads (it is a fabric purse with embroidery) but the zipper was broken. Definitely not my idea of excellent. I went online to find out what I should do because I still wanted the purse, but I was not happy with the condition. ThredUp gave me three options: credit for about 40% of what I paid, 35% off my next order or free shipping on my next order. So I chose the credit thinking it meant they would credit it to my credit card. No, they meant store credit. I didn't realize this until after I had made my selection. So basically they wanted me to spend more money instead of actually resolving my issue which was their fault in the first place. I got on online chat with thredUp's customer service and long story short, they refused to credit my credit card and insisted I had to either return the purse or accept one of their other "offers". I kept pointing out that it was their fault for misrepresenting the condition of the purse, but it didn't make any difference. I ended up disputing the charge on my credit card and getting the entire purchase price credited. And I got to keep the purse. ThredUp's loss because I had no issue with paying for the purse at a discounted price, but they refused to credit my card. So now they are out of a sale and a purse.

Do not sell on THREADUP
I made the mistake of trusting this company because it's promoted by MADEWELL, and completely regret it I sent in expensive designer jackets that's I wasn't able to sell in another consignment store in my town and they never told me when the due date was for my items, they only sent me 1 updated detail on the 3 bags I sent in with clothes. And usually if they don't sell these items you can get them back but because I was never updated on the bags I sent in I never knew when the due date was I could never get in contact to make sure they would send back my items. It's imposible to get a hold of anyone to track anything down. Long story short I lost about $1000 and made a profit of $5 go anywhere but THREADUP to sell. Absolute bull$#*!. They are stealing from people.

Successful buying, NEVER ever sell
I sent in over $700.00 dollars worth of clothing (mostly NWT) and my earnings after fees was $1.62! It takes months to list the items, and if some items are seasonal, they’ll be out of season by the time they are listed. If they don’t sell, in a rather short time frame, you have to pay $5.99 each to get your item back. Two items (NWT Loft and J.Crew) never were put up for sale. I don’t know where that stuff goes. I have purchased from Thredup, and have been mostly satisfied, and when there was a problem, they addressed it quickly. I would not recommend them for selling unless you want to consider it a donation.

Don't waste your time
I have bought and sold on ThredUp several times, but I'm done. Too many times I've sent brand new items they have deemed "ineligible for earnings," which means they'll still sell them, but I will get no commission. How they decide this, no idea because they still put a decent price on these items. Another time I sent in a pants and top set. Very unique design, obviously a set. They listed just the pants - shirt nowhere to be found. Takes months to process a clean out bag, fees are outrageous, sellers earn pennies (if that) and now they're discontinuing their points / rewards program. There's nothing that makes selling on ThredUp worth it. Donate to a local charity instead.

HIgher profile items not saleable?
Sent them 2 HUGE clean out bags with over 50 items and they only listed 12.. . . and not the best higher profile items either! EXAMPLE: A J. Crew linen lined skirt never worn for $1.53. A Chico's lined never worn crop jacket with mandarin style collar. Only $4. ????? All items were clean and carefully packed. I think they keep the best items for themselves.

Do Not Send Anything That You Were NOT ALREADY BRINGING TO GOODWILL
They put your items up for sale immediately after they go live on the website. They also lose items and do not respond to emails regarding their mistakes. They used to be a great site, but each year they go downhill a little more by not being transparent about changes being made to cleanout process. And you will never actually speak to a customer service representative. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because its not a bad site for PURCHASING items. But to sell items its ABSOLUTELY Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.

Do NOT sell on this site.
I've sent in 120lbs. Of NWT and/or excellent condition items (Lilly Pulitzer, Michael Kors, etc.) and only made $350 of that thousands and thousands worth of clothes. Some of the NWT items were not listed as such (affecting the price/value). SO many items that they clearly sold (some of which were sold for over $20/each) were not eligible for payment.

Claimed my clothes had an odor
I was overall very pleased with the clothes I received but when I sent in the bag of my own clothes to sell, after 8 weeks of processing I got an email stating they couldn't use ANY of my clean clothes because of a "strong odor" like perfume, cigarette smoke etc. None of those things are true in my life. In fact, I make extra steps into making sure my clothes are as clean as they can be as I do not have a natural sense of smell. I do not use perfume. I wash my clothes in oxyclean based tide detergent. I do not smoke or even associate with anyone who does. Their accusations were not only unbased, but downright offensive. This company will no longer be getting my business.

Great Place to Buy Clothes
I really enjoy buying clothes from ThredUP and have the most great thrifting experience, especially as to someone who doesn’t like thrifting in stores. The fit of my clothing are great and I have no problem and shipping is quick for as I always seem catch whatever seem they are having at the moment.

Shipping and restocking fees are a rip off
With $11 shipping fees with each order the costs add up quickly. Return shipping is $11 if you want a refund to paypal plus $4 restocking fees for each returned item. I made 11 separate purchases and lost $121 in shipping fees alone plus $32 restocking fees for returning 8 items. Thredup is a rip off!

Favorite way to buy clothes
I have been using ThredUp for a year now. I find the cutest clothes and really enjoy cleaning out mine I don’t wear. Shipping is really fast with clothes and clean out bags! I have yet to need to return an item because their size matching is optimum. Although I haven’t needed to use their return feature I imagine it is very easy to use as it’s right there next to your orders on the app.

Do not use
If you want to buy clothes here it may be ok I’ve never done it, just do not sell clothes to them. One word Horrific! I used this company so many years ago and enjoyed the experience but I’ve used it this year and I don’t even know how this company stays in business. The business model is horrific For sellers. Let me walk you all through this. So they send you a bag and then there is a processing fee of about $15 for them to go through everything which is fine. If you want anything back, you have to pay them 11 extra dollars to get the clothes that they rejected sent back to you. They then list your items and give you pennies on the dollar. I had some namebrand stuff and I probably got 3 to 6 dollars for it if even. You don’t actually get that money usually either because there’s so many fees that you’re paying back. This is already bad, but it gets a lot worse if you actually want your own clothing that they didn’t sell sent back to you. So they make you pay for your own clothing to get it back at whatever rate they decided it should be at so you are essentially buying your clothes back for more than you would’ve gotten if they had sold them and then you also have to pay shipping. What’s even worse is that all of your clothes are ending at different times so if you want to save a bunch of clothes you’re paying $11 over and over and over and paying for the clothes over and over and over at different times so you’re probably paying them like $50 or $60 for them to sell your clothes. It would be a lot better to walk down to a store and have them go through your clothes and choose what they want and then leave with your clothes then it would ever be to use this company. This company makes no sense. I have no idea how they’re still in business. Additionally, it would be more advantageous for me to just take all my clothes to Goodwill because in this model I am paying them 50 or $60 to sell MY clothes! I’ve never seen a worse business model maybe in my entire life. My only advice to them would be to hold both the not used clothes, and the clothes that didn’t sell all in one area and then ship them all back together so that the seller only have to pay one shipping fee. They should also stop selling someone’s clothes back to them and trying to make money off of that because it’s disgusting.

Rip off
I sent a huge bag of clothing. I double checked that each item was eligible and in good to great condition - no stains, so holes, etc. Many pieces were premium brands, and several were NWT. The majority of the items were seasonable. I get that my determination of the quality of the items may differ from theirs, or that I may have missed a stain or two, but I believe that at least 80-90% of the items should have met their standards. I paid $14.99 for them to process a bag with probably 60-70 items, and they listed less than half of them, most of which were the cheapest and not necessarily the nicest items I sent in. Some of what they didn’t list were items with tags. The prices at which they listed the majority of the items were much lower than the price checker (or whatever it’s called) indicated, and then due to a promotion, were significantly discounted from that. They also mislabeled several items - like an adult medium was listed as an infant item. The net result is that the payout of my huge bag is less than the $14.99, so I’ll receive nothing. I’m just going to donate everything - this is not at all worth it.

Still not seen one penny of the few they're paying me!
I will NEVER use this ripoff place again. Not only are they offering literally pennies for beautiful clothes, I'll never even see one of those pennies. Biggest regret EVER trusting them!

Do not send clothes
I will no longer be sending any clothes to Threadup. My last 2 bundles have not earned me anything although they have sold. I would rather donate locally and support a small, local business.

I wish I had read the reviews before I ordered
On June 5, 2024 I placed an order for $200+. It was shipped out on June 9, 2024. Now I didn’t expect express shipping, but I did expect to receive my items by June 20. Tracking last updated on June 14, 2024 and FedEx had the scheduled delivery date of June 17. At this point tracking still hasn’t updated other than changing the scheduled delivery date. I reached out to ThredUp on June 20 and after waiting over 45 minutes to chat with someone was told she had emailed FedEx for an update and would email me when there was an update. Yesterday, June 22, 2024 she emailed and said that she was still working on it and to let her know if I received the order. I replied and told her I haven’t received the order, the scheduled delivery date has changed again, and the tracking status still hasn’t updated. At this point I’m thinking the package is lost since it’s went over a week without being scanned or having any real update, so I ask for a refund. I’m told it has to go seven business days without a scan and to contact them by the end of business on June 25. It is now June 23 and the tracking status still hasn’t updated since June 14 and I still don’t have my order. At this point I’d much rather have my $200+ back so I can go to another store and buy the clothing I need. I will never order from ThredUp again.
