I need to address significant issues we encountered with Helton Security during our recent event. First, the officer's late arrival—over an hour past the scheduled time—was unacceptable. We were informed that the first officer backed out last minute, but that is not our responsibility; it falls on Helton Security. We required security in place as patrons entered, but due to this delay, we had to forgo wanding and bag checks for the first group. Officer Smith suggested I call if no officer arrived within 30 minutes, but on show days, I am busy with many responsibilities. It’s unreasonable to expect me to track down personnel we’ve already paid to arrive on time. Additionally, I was concerned about Officer Smith's conduct during the event. He was on his phone for most of the performance, leaving him distracted and unprepared to respond to any issues. I have footage documenting his inattention. I asked him to stand near the stage, but he remained at the back. When I requested his help with an unruly patron, he was unable to intervene effectively. There was also a troubling interaction between Officer Smith and our client’s mother, during which he allegedly stated his role was just to check bags, not to provide security. While I can’t verify this, we did hire Helton Security for private protection. Fortunately, no incidents occurred, but I had little confidence in Officer Smith's ability to handle a situation had one arisen. Our client and her producer shared similar concerns about his competence. Officer Smith later left a negative review of the venue, which is unfortunate. He complained about being the only guard on site when there should have been four. We hired him as private security, and during the times our client was safe in the green room, I asked if he could manage wanding and bag checks for incoming attendees. If Officer Smith was genuinely concerned about the lack of security, why was he on his phone the entire time? One would expect that he's significant concern would warrant a heightened sense of caution. If this was such a major issue for him, he should have addressed it on-site rather than leaving a review, after being called out for his inadequate service. This tour spanned 12 cities across two countries, and every other company we hired performed the tasks without issue. Given Officer Smith's late arrival and the subpar service, our company requested a refund. While service quality can be subjective, being charged for the full length of time when arriving over an hour late is unreasonable. The best offer we received was a discount on our next event, but there won’t be a next event.
