We went on the 4 day South Coast and Snaefellness tour and had an amazing time. If you are selecting the 4 day tour, it is important to know that it is actually 2 tours combined - the 3 day South Coast tour and the 1 day Snaefellness tour. Which means that you'll be with 2 different tour guides and busses. Our 3 day tour was wonderful and 5 star. We saw all the major landmarks and had a special guided glacier hike and ice cave tour included. Our tour guide, Branimir, was extraordinarily special, really making us feel like family. As the only family and vegetarians on the bus, he made sure that we always had options. He truly loves his job, meeting new people, and making sure the entire group is safe. This last part is no little task because Iceland is full of dangerous areas and he went out of his way to ensure everyone was ok. I cannot say enough about Branimir. The actual tour is tons of driving, which is to be expected. The bus is fairly small so make sure your personal belongings are small enough to fit under the small seat or shallow overhead compartment. The last leg of the tour in Snaefellness with the new tour guide was underwhelming unfortunately, with a 3 star at most. He did give tons of information but neglected to tell us the sights to see at each stop as some were not as obvious. He was not as personable and vested in the group. I do wish Troll would split up the 3 day tour and 1 day tour to make it more apparent that you would get two experiences. Lastly, the accommodations were all comfortable, clean and restful with standard but plentiful breakfast offerings. There were plenty of stops to go to the toilet and get food. I would highly recommend the Troll tour to get a good no frills experience of Iceland. It does seem dependent on the tour guide though. With the constantly changing weather (rain, hail, wind, snow), we appreciated having someone experienced drive us safely.

An incredible experience. Our driver guide Juliana did a fantastic job of preparing us along the way to a great spot away from the crods where we had amenities. Throughout the time we were watching she helped as well as took photos that she shared with us.

The glacier and ice cave tour in Skaftafell was amazing. Everything was pretty good organized, equipment was provided, the employees were friendly and courteous.

Amazing Iceland Trip!
We had a great time in Iceland! The itinerary covered almost all of the places we had on our list. We saw many Icelandic waterfalls and had a “waterfall of the day” in our daily itinerary 😄Glacier hike and ice cave visits were the highlight of the trip for us and should not be missed. Accommodations were clean, cozy and most of the days they were secluded - best for viewing aurora borealis. Our trip was exceptional because of our tour guide Thor Thorsteinsson. He is very knowledgeable and provided us history and geology information of the places we visited. He also recommended places to dine and included a visit to grocery store daily to ensure people like us who are vegan had enough options. He also patiently taught us how to pronounce Icelandic names of the places we visited. He had a good sense of humor. We highly recommend Troll.is and the tour guide Thor!!!

A lifetime Unpresidented experience
It’s an ice cave on the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier at Vatnajökull National Park. Very much experienced company operates the tour. The tour starts at the Jökulsárlón lake parking area. Our time was 1 pm in early October 2024. The weather was perfect. They drove 12 -14 ( a group) together in a van for more than 30 minutes. Then we have to walk for another 10/15 minutes. The walking is treacherous and my wife was unfit for that. Our guide ( a lady around 25-30 years personal took hold of my wife till the cave. Without her our tour would have been incomplete. She even fixed the spike on her shoes. Then we have to walk on the glacier for 5 minutes before waiting for another 10 minutes till the previous group vacates the cave. It was a lifetime experience. As such the ice is not blue, rather covered by black ash from the volcanic mountain. But the perfect weather with bright sun rays makes the cave appear blue. The time of the day is important otherwise someone got his heartened. Over all our experience was excellent. We shall keep it in our memory for the whole life possibly.

Exciting and Unforgettable Trip
The tour started on 21 March 2025. The mimi bus came on time with a friendly welcome by Thor, an experienced tour guide.During the tour, the following points are highlighted.1. The schedule was well planned with a variety of wonderful events such as waterfall seeing, glacier hiking, ice-caving, horse riding and whale watching etc.2. Extra sight-seeing spots were offered by Thor to enrich our tour experience.3. Detailed explanation by Thor was always available. He was ready to give satisfactory answers whenever any queries were raised.4. Though no meal was offered, Thor thoroughly planned where and when for teammates to take their meal.5. As we hired boots for hiking and others, Thor advised us when to use them in due course

Gabriel is a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable about the glacier, nearby volcano, and the geology of Iceland.

Troll Expedition is an excellent company to book with. I did 2 tours with them during my trip and both were 5/5.

Tour of the south coast plus + Katla Ice Cave is a long tour, but time moves very quickly. It’s a smaller tour bus (think a van/shuttle) that takes you to the hot spots along the South Coast. They then drive you up to the glacier via superjeep and gear you up for the hike itself. Glacier is a relatively easy hike with the crampons.

My husband and I did the Katla Ice Caves tour with Troll and it was by far the BEST activity we did on our trip to Iceland. The guide was helpful, friendly, and so informative. And emailing them with questions always got an almost immediate response so great customer service as well. I would absolutely recommend them and will be looking to use them again in the future for other experiences if we return to Iceland.

A Wonderful Trip
First of all, our driver and guide, Thor, was incredibly responsible and professional. He is an excellent driver and also very knowledgeable about history, geography, and geology. He patiently explained everything along the way and helped us solve various problems we encountered during the trip. I just returned from the 8-day tour organized by Troll Expedition, with my mind and body still in Iceland! The memories of this trip will stay with me for life. I’m french and went solo. From the moment I made the reservation, the contact with the Troll agency (which I called several times, wanting to be sure of my sometimes hesitant understanding of English) was so warm and helpful. Not only for the tour I was booking but also for the choice of my hotel before the tour and the transfer options, etc. They even allowed me to visit their office the day before the tour to try on the rented clothes. If you are like me, not used to cold countries and changing climates like Iceland, don't hesitate to rent the equipment offered for rain/snow especially. It will make your experience much more comfortable!And to talk about the tour. We were just soooo lucky to have David Ingi Magnusson as our guide. After a few hours, he turned out to be more like a friend, welcoming us to his island and wanting us to enjoy and discover it through anecdotes, tales, legends not forgetting geological explanations of the island. He also shared with us through his own perspective and experience what Iceland was like. Always incredibly patient with our little group of happy trolls! Adapting to each person, not forgetting anyone, always giving such relevant advice for our free time... And the bonus stops too!I won't spoil all the magic of everything we saw and felt. Touring the island felt like every hour we arrived in another world: glaciers, lava seas, waterfalls, black sand beaches with basalt rocks sculpted by Mother Nature, surreal lagoons, horse riding, the geysers and the icelanders so welcoming... The varied and breathtaking landscapes as well as the changing weather almost every hour, all these component made this trip unforgettable.A piece of advice, don't miss out on the optional activities, they all worth it and really add all something more. I forgot to mention the accommodations, all different, some in the heart of the city or town, others in the middle of nature. All with their charm, very comfortable bedding, hearty breakfasts, and always a very warm Icelandic welcome!I could talk for hours about this trip, as you can understand, I can only recommend that you have the chance to experience it yourself. Thanks again to David but also to all the members of the group with whom I shared this journey! Takk kærlega fyrir.
