After having had to fire two contractors for incompetence, I was fortunate to be connected to Mark Huffer and his sons via Chris Ruh, my ace concrete contractor (and now a friend). Chris was correct: Utmost Masonry knew how to handle my job redoing a concrete block wall on a commercial building and in addition lining up a painter to repaint the block wall and the metal above it. In the process I learned that not all Sherwin Williams representatives are equal. Mark had a true expert advise us on what product to use both for the appearance I wanted and for longevity. The building looks great. Perhaps most importantly, Mark and Gabe were responsive, showed up to work when they said they would, and followed up on final details. Yes — I had to pay a bit more, but the ease of communication, on-time performance, and quality work more than make up for the difference. Thank you, Utmost.

I just had Utmost Renovations do some work on my aging chimney which started to lean a little away from my house and crack some of the bricks and cement joints. They just finished their work, and I can't be more pleased with the quality of their work. My chimney looks like it did when it was new. You can't even tell where the repairs were made. Being my first time needing masonry work done as a homeowner, I really didn’t know where to start, other than some google searches, other review platforms and the BBB. Utmost Renovations kept coming up so I requested an estimate. I really needed restoration on a chimney built in 1900, but also work on a second chimney and the house foundation. Mark was out the next day and provided an estimate quickly by email. Again, being my first experience with masonry restoration, I didn’t know how the estimate would compare to others. I attempted to contact several other companies, most never reached back out to me, seriously?! After a couple of months I was able to get two other estimates, and Mark’s quote was the most reasonable. Additionally, they were the only company from my estimates that focused attention to historic preservation.
Because my masonry needs were pretty big, Mark suggested I break up the project based on urgency. The foundation could wait so I settled on the two chimneys first. Due to our rainy Spring, it did take some time to finally schedule, but anytime I had questions during that time, Mark would immediately (within minutes every time!) call me to answer my questions.
Once I made it to the top of the list, Van reached out mid-week to schedule and Hunter and a small crew were out on that Friday.
Mind you, my 3-story home has a very high and steep pitched roof, so extra scaffolding was needed.
100+ heat index and all, Hunter finished two days later and gave me a really great summary of the work he completed along with pictures.
All in all, my experience with Utmost Renovations was really professional and pleasant. It’s really great to have a locally-owned business, with friendly customer-focused service, you can count on. Don’t hesitate having them do work for you, I know I will be using them again very soon for my foundation work! Thank you Mark, Van and Hunter!

Impressed with the company from the time I got the estimate until the jobs were completed. Had chimney work done and sealed, lentil on garage door and tuck pointing on brick. Utmost Renovations is prompt and dependable, their skilled workers display an obvious pride in their craft. My very old house required some tuck pointing as well as repairing and adding a small span of wall. It is really lovely work. They matched mortar color the pointing was so well done. I was kept up to date on progress and completion time as well as an explanation of what was happening in real time. I originally had Utmost rebuild a chimney and knew they were the company to choose for the rest of this work. I don't believe you could find a better masonry firm in the Central Ohio area.

They did a great job helping to make repairs to the chimney in my historic house. I would highly recommend them!
Our chimney had moisture issues, spalling bricks, old flakey internal damper, and a deteriorating paint-like moisture seal. After watching Utmost rebuild another chimney in our neighborhood and talking to the home owners, who were very satisfied and impressed with the work and workers, we contacted Mark Huffer at Utmost.
He came out, inspected the chimney and firebox and gave us a very reasonable estimate based on repairs rather than replacement and recommended sealing the entire chimney. We scheduled the work, his workers came out and in a couple of days repaired the affected bricks and shoulders, removed the old paint seal, tuck-pointed where needed, repaired the flue top and installed a new crown cap with damper that can be activated from inside the firebox. And finally, sealed the chimney against moisture.
Even with ordering the custom damper the whole process took three weekdays total. The Utmost team was professional, prompt everyday and always cleaned up afterwards.
We are VERY satisfied with Mark and Co.’s work and look forward to using our fireplace a lot more now.
Would recommend anyone with chimney issues to strongly consider Utmost Renovations to fix their issues.

They did the best they could to match the mortar to the hodgepodge of work done over multiple decades. Appreciate their dedication and speed despite mother nature.
